I looked at the photos of that house they bought on Zillow and I just don't see the appeal-lots of wasted space. the kitchen is not appealing to me (seems like an afterthought and rather crampt for a house that size. when we watched the show this week I told dh that I thought the flooring looked AWFUL and it looks no better in the photos.

from the numbers Zillow shows it doesn't look like it's a great investment for them so far (I know-zillow isn't entirely accurate but it's fairly decent on reflecting values). from what i've read the real estate market is Flagstaff is pretty strong with values increasing over 8% since they bought a year ago-but their place has little increase value.

Kody only cared about the opulence of it. And I think they wanted the separate quarters for Dayton.

The part I don't understand is that I am now reading it backs up to an active cinder mine and had been most recently used as a short term rental. With Robyn and Sol's supposed respiratory issues, it seems like a head scratcher. But once again, opulence seems to trump everything for Kody.

I agree on the opulence aspect. as far as Dayton goes-there have been rumors dating back to over a year ago (so prior to their move) that dayton no longer lives with them. different sources have reported that his bio-dad has cancer and after he graduated 2 years ago he moved nearer to him in texas (same sources claim that there was a fallout significant enough between he and Kody that he's changed his last name BACK to 'jessop'). he hasn't been shown on the show in ages and was also noticably absent from garrison's funeral.

He was at the graveside funeral. He was at the back kind of rocking. Not with Kody and Robyn

What kinda bugged me with the whole move was when they asked Ariella what she thought and she was so happy as so much more room. I guess I didn't think their prior home was that small. Maybe the layout was bad, but the kitchen had one of those massive built in refrigerators so I'm thinking the house was built for many people to be living there.

Saw part of the new home on the recent episode and I wasn't like "OMG this is such a big improvement". Just watched a YouTube video on it, and yep they sure do have alot of room so Ariella will be happy.

I thought I read that Kody and Robyn hadn’t told the kids about the cancer and the kids had no contact with bio dad?

hmm, I've always read that dayton skipped both and was photographed/filmed at neither.

Dayton is 25 years old and unless r/k's crazy control blocked any internet access both in the trailer and on his college campus he could have easily stumbled across it on the on-line. I suspect that even robyn's daughters at age 22 and 20 may get curious about their (for lack of a better term) 'first canceled family' and go online seeking updates.

That hasn't been proven. And I'm pretty sure his car has been spotted in the driveway. I really think he's there, just not filming.

And he was at Garrison's funeral. I'm pretty sure I he was over with the other Brown kids rather than Robyn's kids.

That old house was at least 4K square feet. They are raising an entitled brat.

Likes like it still has the 80's look

yet it was built in 2002

it reminds me of the stuff you see on home renovation shows where someone is going in to do allot of (at bare minimum) cosmetic work. I know that having what I counted to be at least 4 different types of flooring would not appeal to me (even if I liked that particular lvp I would want more consistancy). the built-ins in what I guess is the main living room are pretty limiting unless you have the exact sized tv to fit, and what I guess is the primary suite just looks wonky to me-that wall with the fireplace is at a weird angle so you couldnt put a tv above it to view from the bed and the way they have ('virtually' per the listing) staged with a chair in front of it blocks both the entry and bathroom doors.

it seems like it was built to someone's very specific tastes.
