Sister Wives

Well, that's probably why Robin was so insistant on her kids seeing the house before they left for their trip, lol. I always wondered why the older teens didn't get a pt time job or something.

They seem to own a lot of cars. Wonder how much they pay in auto insurance...

If I'm not mistaken, I think Kody used to be employed in some kind of advertising field, Janell was like an accountant & Meri did have a job but got let go once her lifestyle was made public. Something along the lines of counseling teenagers????

Actually if you follow the kids twitter feeds many of them do have part time jobs.

Janell worked for the state of Utah in the social assistance department and also had some kind of home business (food storage).

Months before the marriage of Janelle and Kody, however, Janelle's mother entered into a polygamist marriage with Kody's father.

That has got to be one gnarled family tree :rolleyes1.

So Janelle's stepfather is also her father-in-law....and her husband is also her stepbrother?

Terri

I know a girl C and a guy T.

C's mother died years before she met T.

T's parents were divorced.

C and T married.

About 2 years later C's dad married T's mom. The mother in law is now the step mom and the father in law is now the step dad.

C and T became step brother and step sister as well as husband and wife.

C and T had children. We joke that the kids are not only brothers and sisters but also cousins.

Oh that's just like Catelynn and Tyler on MTV's "16 and Pregnant"!

Interesting your friends have the same initials!

I thought it was $1million per episode for Friends???

I watched SW last night and all I could think is that Mariah seriously needs to grow up...between her previous whining about wanting her mom to have another baby (REALLY???) and then last night's drama and whining over not being in the house by Christmas I just wanted to pluck both her Mariah AND Meri. It's ridiculous. Everyone else did their paperwork on time, that's why they have their houses and you don't. And in the grand scheme of things, does it matter???

There was a lot of talk about the times when they no longer wanted to be a part of plural marriage on the couch interviews last night. I think Janelle has gotten very used to be independent but at the same time welcomes the help of the SWs with her kids when they are living closer. Janelle is the kind of mom that is a better mom when she is working and out of the house. I am the same way. Robyn is still a dreamer and has this idea that they should all work together, live together and do it all together, as long as she gets her alone time with Kody too. Christine really loves being a mom and I think she is the best at being "the mom." Meri -- I think she needs a job or something. She was going to school when they lived in Utah. Did she finish? Why not get out there and DO something now that your daughter is grown?

You're correct, it was $1mil per episode.

$75K is definitely possible, the cast of the Jersey Shore made $150K per episode their last season.

That's funny.

I've never watched that show but I changed my friends initials in case they happen to see this board. :lmao:

They're Disney fans also. Didn't want them to think I was talking about them behind their backs. ;)

Are they still selling the LIV products?
Found these testimonials on their website:
From Christine:
My road rage has significantly decreased after using Serezen in the car while driving. If I don't remember to use it, my kids remind me. They love the effect it has on me, I love how calm it makes me and I am sure the other drivers love it too.
Helping my kids with their homework used to be a struggle. Now we all spray our Serezen, sit down, and start to tackle homework. Somehow, it helps them focus and feel confident. They get it done quicker and have a better attitude.

From Janelle:
With Liv, I was able to cure my long time diet soda addiction! And I lost 5 inches in 3 months by just adding Liv SXinney to my daily regimen

From Robyn:
I keep SereZen in my purse, diaper bag and next to my bed to keep my kids and I calm and focused.

And from whiny Meri:
I always have a bottle of Serezen in my purse and on my counter at home. It does an amazing job at calming my nerves & anxiety.

I think Meri & Robyn need to up their dosage.....

Some other interesting info that I just found on another site (don't know if true or not) they have all filed for bankruptcy and Christine has been on food stamps.

According to an interview Robyn gave a couple years ago, the family (at the time) was living off Kody's retirement.

Here's Kody and Meri's bankruptcy paperwork: http://www.scribd.com/doc/57692053/Kody-Meri-Brown-BK

Janelle's bankruptcy paperwork: http://www.scribd.com/doc/57591862/Bankruptcy-Filing-of-Sisterwives-Star-Janelle-Brown-1997

Christine's bankruptcy paperwork: http://www.scribd.com/doc/57590942/...ster-Wives-Star-Christine-Allred-Brown-3-2010

and http://www.scribd.com/doc/57590939/Bankruptcy-Filing-of-Sister-Wife-Christine-Allred-Brown-3-2010

If I recall correctly, they had to pay 40 percent down on each house and were given interest-only loans, and were told when they could qualify for a traditional mortgage that they could refinance.

Well all THIS ^^^^ just boggles my mind on how they can all be in brand new pricy homes??? Banks are suffering all over the place, why oh why would any bank give them a mortgage???

As far as Sunday night, it was disturbing that the reason, the SOLE reason Meri is NOT in her home is because of HER and the lack of her getting her paperwork in. I mean she has NO ONE to worry about, (Mariah is gone all day to school), Christine and Janelle have SIX children, and manged to get their paperwork done. :confused3

Yet, she is all cryeee and Mariah is all cryeee. Gawd. I am so glad Kody calls Meri out on it next week.

Meri all whining that Her mother is coming to HELP her move. Gawd what about the other 3 ladies who have wayyyyy more kiddos? None of them mentioned having any help to move. :headache:

As far as Robyn is concerned, yup, I totally agree with the Builder, she and Kody are still on their Honeymoon. There has to be some jealousy there with the ladies because if WE see it, they all have to see it. :headache:

Perhaps they have the cash to pay for a majority of the homes, as in more than 40 percent. Assuming they did some saving up from their series salary, the book sales, etc., they could conceivably fork over $1.2 million in cash.

If that was true and they had millions in cash then why would Robyn have come to the mortgage approval table with credit card debt? She was on the show at least 2 years before applying for a mortgage.

Why would any of them file bankruptcy as stated in the post above mine?

Why would they be living off of Kody's retirement? I did not even think you could touch 'retirement' money UNTIL you retired?

And lastly why would they all be very disappointed in the lack of sales at those "shows" for their jewelry line if they had a stash of $$$?

Naaa, first off I don't believe they have millions stashed away and secondly, I do not believe they get $75,000.00 an episode.

Actually I "kind of" get it in that she's the only seemingly intelligent one out of the bunch, and they seem like really good friends.

Yeah, in past seasons Kody described their relationship as being "best friends." I'd venture a guess that if Janelle had better body image she wouldn't have married him. She could have done better.

Janelle is the only one of the wives who (IMO) acts like an adult/partner. The rest seem very childish to me. However, I will say that at least Christine harnesses her child-like energy into being a good caregiver/mother figure for the family's kids. (I'm not saying that Robyn's not a good mother, just that she seems to only mother her own kids, whereas Christine has mothered her, Meri & Janelle's kids.)

I've only seen the show a couple of times. Most of what I've shared I've learned from reading about things.

That said, "reality television" is often highly scripted. Maybe the family's money woes are fabricated for you, their audience.

The most recent bankruptcy was in 2010 the others were several years before that.

You can draw on most retirement plans but usually its subject to tax on the earnings.

I really have no idea exactly what they are making per episode but I do applaud the fact that they seem to be trying to come up with a business venture to make money after the shows popularity wanes.

Regarding the home loans, they all could have had issues with their prior bankruptcies. They stay on your credit report for something like 10 years. So the one in 2010 would definitely cause an issue. Robin may have had horrible credit too. I also don't think they had much money stashed. They may be paying off old debt and putting it into college funds for all those kids (I hope so anyway).

So
One of them filed bankruptcy in 1997
then another filed in2005
then another one of them filed in 2010.
I think an individula can only file every 7 years or 10 years, sepending on what type of bankruptcy.
so next time will it be janelles turn to file bankruptcy or will Robyn have to take a turn?
they have a good scam going on.
I wonder why they took on a fourth wife/family, if they cannot even support themselves?

I had a friend who was about to file for bankruptcy let me amend a an aquaintance. Anyway, she was up to 90K in credit cards and her lawyer advised her that she run the cards to the max because it would all be wiped out. She is one of those people who complain because she does not own a house.

I think it's *extremely* hypocritical of Cody to lecture on and on to the older teens about how they can only go to a college that they can afford, how terrible college debt is, etc when it's pretty obvious that dad and all the moms do not have good money management skills at all.

I hope the rest of the kids follow the first boy's example of going to college and not looking back....

That is fraud! You can not intentionally run up credit card debt if you know that you are going to file bankruptcy(not that people don't do it).

I know of many examples of people that do this. My own Nephew took a trip to St. Lucia right before they filed and paid for it with his credit cards. Not quite the same, but our current county sheriff declared bankruptcy but managed to go out and buy a huge boat at the same time. Not sure how he managed to pull that off...
