Sister Wives

The show last night was very sad. Although I am glad Truely is doing better. I was surprised meri didn't make a huge deal about him staying back. Although during the "talk" about it it seemed at first like Mariah was going to be a snot then meri started talking and saying how important it was that he was with Truely.

I also read on one of their twitter feeds that Christine took her to the doctor like three times. It was so sad to hear Christine ask herself why she didn't go to the hospital sooner. It is such a real mom moment, no matter how hard you try it never feels like enough.

I thought it was kind of sad that Christine was worrying and taking Truely to the ER by herself while Kody was napping at another wife's house.

He did get up and meet them but it seems like they do most everything alone.

But, they did choose this for themselves.

That's what REALLY gets my goat about this lifestyle choice, is that it seems as though you're still a "single" mom, plus you have to put up with these other jealous "wives" who your "husband" expects you to be friends with!

I felt terrible for Christine...

Huge PSA for parents to make sure they watch their children's fluid intake when they are ill.

Wondering if the fact she was 3 and most likely potty trained made it harder for them ( the family) to tell there was little to no output and the dehydration was as bad as it was, or if more kids means you are less likely to notice?

I am not trying to point fingers at Christine, I think its odd that the doctor missed the signs more than the mom, who went to the doctor more than once before the hospital.

And I am not one who usually defends Cody, but in all fairness the minute it went from Dr's appointment to ER he ran out the door.
My Husband doesn't go to Dr's appointments either and he only has one wife and 3 kids.

I am going to point fingers at the fact that at the end when she was talking it looked like she had a case of baby bottle mouth :(

Her mom said on her Twitter that her teeth looking like that was due to iron supplements she had to have.

so did Mariah get her new car, like Kody said they were going to get before the whole Truely thing?

Poor baby, so glad she got better. As a mom, it's so hard to see our kids helpless

I'm thinking that in a family with 4 mommies, 1 daddy and what..... 17 kids? It's just going to be hard to keep a close eye on any single child and can totally see how her urine output could be overlooked.

I actually thought when I saw her in last week's show that she looked awful. It's hard to tell though in a show like this what the real progression of events was.... when they saw the doctor, when she first had symptoms, when anyone noticed she was getting worse instead of getting better.

So the show is now off for the next 2 weeks. I wonder if they will gloss right over Aspyn leaving for college? Does anyone know if they bought her a car too? And just how DID they come up with money for the more expensive college for Mariah, plus a car, plus this expensive ceremony.

And I lost track while I was watching. Did they order the ........ gulp........... $8500 cake? :faint:

Yes, it's the train wreck I just can't look away from. I don't watch soap operas or professional wrestling. Let me have this! :p

A few pages earlier we talked about how the show is probably paying for the ceremony..

Well, I get that. But I'm still curious if they try and pass of the $8500 cake as something we might believe they would buy.

And I doubt the show is paying for Mariah's school or car. Perhaps they just make enough from the show to buy those things, but just a few weeks ago it was a really big deal for them to figure it out. Maybe Kody "allowed" her to take out some school loans? I just hope they are prepared to do the same for all the other kids, show income or not.

The first season of this show I liked Meri and didn't care for Jannele or Christine. Now Janelle is my favorite, she is the most down to earth. I do like Christine a bit. I can't stand Meri or Mariah. Quit with all the whining and creating so much drama. Boo hoo enough already. Robin seems like a nice person, but she is still the favorite wife and in the honeymoon phase. I think we will see a whole different side of her when he takes another and makes her the new favorite flavor. It is going to be REALLY hard on Robin. And to whomever suggested it, I also think Janelle should run off with her trainer and dump Kody.
:lmao: Well, I'm thinking there will not be another wife. But what do I know. I felt bad for little Truely. So scary. Glad she is OK. I was glad we did not have to see Mariah and and Mary boo-hooing as well! Ick. Sick of that, big time! Mariah seemed pretty snotty that Daddy was not able to escort her to college.
Yes, I also thought it was so sad, but it seems as if Truely will be OK so thats a good thing. She seems like a sweet little girl.
Anyway, I did want to say, as sad as it was that that little girl was so sick, one silver lining was that it took the emphasis off of Meri and Mariah. Meri would have been crying throughout the whole show if we had seen more of Mariah being dropped off at college.

BTW, I thought more people would be posting today about last nights episode. Where are all the Sister Wives fans? Or in some cases, kind of like me, not so much a fan but just can't stop watching the train wreck :faint:

Karen :)
Here I am! :rotfl2:
I did notice that when they were saying that Kody needed to stay behind and be with Truely and not drive up to drop of Mariah that she looked like she was ready to throw a fit, but instead said just said a in very sad, woah is me voice, I understand .

Glad Truely was ok in the end, but I can only imagine how scary that was!

Did anyone else notice the new lady they kept showing in the background, just wondering who she was. The never showed her long enough to put her name and title under her like they did for Christine's mom.
YES!! Who was that lady?????

How well does Kody really know his kids? Well besides Mariah..

I too was wondering of Aspen got a car too. I don't feel it is fair for Mariah to get the more expensive school and a car and aspen gets nothing

I think when the wives were gone Kody should have taken her to the Dr then. I just can't believe they didn't watch her urine output or notice that she wasn't drinking...it makes me sick, for her to be that sick I wonder how long it had been since she urinated....

My guess is that Kody is so used to sub-contracting out day to day parenting stuff that it never even crossed his mind. THAT is what is wrong with having 17 kids. Little stuff gets missed. This time it almost cost Truely her life. Thankfully the stakes usually aren't as high.

The past two episode were great examples of why this arrangement is not better than monogamy.

1) The kids are not true siblings, as they live under different roofs and the rules of their own mom.

2) Kody does not know his kids well enough to take care of all of them. He relied on the teen girls to do most of the work.

3) He is spread too thin. Not able to take his daughter to college because another mother's kid was very ill. The ill child should take precedence.

4) He was napping on another bed and was not there for his wife and daughter when she was so sick. It was sad that he had to be woke up to be told to check his text. It seemed he was home more than he was at the hospital.

One thing struck me - Kody remarked that kidney failure meant "either dialysis or death". Does anyone know if there's something about FLDS that prohibits organ transplant?

Now see..... I didn't even think about a possible religious objection. I just thought he was ignorant. :lmao:

I was talking about this to a friend at work today. Meri and Janelle have been around for over 20 years, right? Christine came not too long after Janelle. Why the heck do these women need to take a trip to "bond?" I can understand Robyn feeling a little like an outsider, but even she's been in the family for a few years. If the wives haven't bonded by now, they're not going to. A trip to SF is not going to do a dang thing for their relationships with each other.

Frankly, I don't really get why any of them chose to be in a polygamous marriage. Is Kody really that awesome that they're willing to share him? If he is, I certainly don't see it! Meri is very needy and seems jealous of the others, even though she's the only one he's legally married to. Janelle seems way too no nonsense and independent to want to be part of that circus. Christine craves attention and has said before that she wants more time with Kody. It seems like her very own husband would make her happier. Robyn? Who knows. Her first marriage ended badly. Maybe she's just happy to be there.

I've read books about polygamy where the marriages were arranged, the men were controlling, and the women were unhappy. These people chose this lifestyle and each of the wives chose to be with Kody. I would think they would be happier. In terms of the women bonding, it ain't gonna happen!

I sat and watched several episodes the other night...never really watched before. And this was my first thought too (bolded above). And with poor Truely getting sick...my thoughts were that these women are SO fixated on this guy and so busy competing for him that they kind of overlook all these children. I don't see the draw (to Kody) either :crazy2:. Another thing I noticed was when they did the group prayer for Truely, her sister Aspyn got all emotional and none of the sister wives comforted her...at least not on camera. To me, being in a plural marriage means you need to consider all the children as your own and I kind of expected to see one of the other wives consoling Aspyn. I feel this group is so fragmented and competing.
