Sister Wives

Did the show seemed more scripted than normal? So much so it was almost difficult to watch.

When did Meri’s child change their name to Leon? During one scene I heard Sobbyn Robyn refer to the child by their original name not Leon
There was a lot of talk about that on Tik Tok. So much so that a creator got on and said "I NEVER do this, but I have to defend Robyn on this one". Leon did not come out as Leon until after this was filmed. Since apparently when they mention the holidays they are talking about way back to 2021. I realize it takes time to produce a show, edit for time and content, all of that. But why do they have to be so far behind?

When Meri was saying that Kody liked her turkey until he had Robyn's turkey, but then turned it dirty and said he signed up for a life where he could have both turkeys!! I was like OMG!!! Not in a prudish, clutching my pearls kind of way, but I just didn't expect it! I'm not sure if I thought it was funny or like ewww, I don't want to think about their "turkeys" :rotfl:

I know what yall mean about enjoying the drama. I actually lost interest and stopped watching for a few seasons. Then I heard Christine was leaving and started watching again last season.

I finally watched the show last night and OMG Kody is definitely the problem. He does seem different from the beginning of the show and in a way I do feel bad for Robin as she is stuck with him and he is just so angry and delusional.

He has been the root of the problem from the beginning of this COVID thing. You cannot just dictate to people around you what they can and can't do for years on end. HE chose to no longer have an intimate marriage with Christine, HE chose to push Janelle away, HE chose to not work on things with Meri or just cut the cord with her years ago. HE is making all of these choices and is unwilling to take responsibility.

It is amazing that he wants support when he is unwilling to support the mothers. He pits them between him & the kids and then is surprised when he doesn't win. He should have been more understanding and tried to find solutions but again he is the only one who knows what is right and what everyone should be doing.

I will definitely watch until the end but man is it hard listening to Kodi...

And GOOD for Christine, Janelle & Meri to leave that sad sack...

No website says “Sister Wives season 18 was filmed in late 2022 and spans several months into 2023”. And Kody is still talking about testing for covid
Which website? Because it’s wrong.

Christine Brown wrote on Instagram, “I’m finally filming in my house.” Previously, most of the season 17 content was filmed in early 2021 despite airing in the fall of 2022.

So it’s been almost a year since the events of season 18 unfolded! Jenelle Brown announced her separation from Kody in December 2022, just weeks after filming began again.

Christine Brown and Kody Brown’s 24-year-old son, Paedon Brown, reveals the air date of Sister Wives Season 18. Paedon claims the show is around a year behind which makes it filmed in 2022

They're talking about the holidays in the newest episode. There's only 2 choices there, holidays 2021 or holidays 2022. They aren't up to November 2022. The show is well known to be much further behind than other reality shows. The comment from Paedon was from 6 months ago.

Their personal updates aren’t inline with the shows timeline. The show is still in 2021, more than a year and a half behind.

I remain happy for Christine. But my God she seems twelve half the time to me.
That is almost verbatim what I said about her to a friend!

I'm 100% team Christine and wish her all the happiness, but she's probably going to get on my nerves this season. It's easy to see where Mykelti gets her personality. And I've never been a Mykelti fan.

i just read an article from US magazine wherein leon and audrey announced that they married back in october '22. the article also reports that audrey came out as transgender in december '21 which was 6 month's before leon's transgender announcement (the article still referred to audrey by the name audrey so apparantly no name change).

a brown marriage that chose to fly under the radar and actually managed to do so-kudos to them:love:

This whole thing didn’t seem sustainable from the beginning. One man cannot meet the needs of 4 women and dozens of children. Heck, in the busy child raising years it can be difficult to keep the wheels on a singular marriage with two jobs and a couple of kids. Factor in Kody’s narcissistic personality and the fact that he brought Robyn in because he was bored with the others and it was headed for disaster.

With regard to him deciding to give up the physical side of at least 2 of the marriages (not sure about Janelle as I don’t recall her talking about it,) it seems to me that as he’s aged he just might not have the libido X 4. Especially since he actively disliked Meri and Christine and had Janelle in the friend zone. A young man might be capable of intimacy wherever and whenever but an older man might just want to go to sleep every 3rd or 4th night. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

It seemed really convenient for Kody to blame the wives and stay at Robyn’s since that’s where he wanted to be anyway.

It was never sustainable financially either. Hence, the fact that apparently most of those kids spent large parts of their childhoods uninsured.

I do love that they started on the show to prove how viable their lifestyle was, and now it turns out to be a very public display of why it isn't.

Kody was so bitter at his meeting with Christine. I'm glad he has to see her moved on and happier. He sucks. LOL

And I see things get particularly spicy with Janelle next week. Yikes. What a frustrating man he is.

It's crazy that he thought she should do counseling with him. He just wants another avenue to assert his control over her. So glad to hear her say later that she wasn't going to do that.

I saw a live that Meri did on Tik Tok (I think it was her account, but I don’t remember), and she said the episode we just watched was from 2021.

this drives me mad!! i administered medicaid programs and there is NO reason those kids should have gone uninsured unless there are assetts that they are not sharing with the public. i know they don't align themselves with the flds but their practices of maintaining eligibility to public assistance programs by purposely structuring finances and assetts are common knowledge that the browns could have used to ensure all those kids had coverage.

along a similar line-it drove me nuts when they talked of how there were financial obstacles to some of those kids going to college-again, unless there are assetts and income we as viewers are unaware of those kids would at minimum be eligible to pell grants, and i believe the state of nevada is similar to our state and provides grants to lower income students as well.

SO looking forward to it-last night dh and i were chanting 'you go janelle!!!' as they showed the coming attractions!

i think they did individual therapy YEARS ago b/c i seem to remember the two of them going on a couples only vacation where their therapist had specificaly instructed them to focus JUST on the two of them but during the trip when christine would try to engage him in doing the assignments the therapist had given them kody kept saying he could only ever focus on the ENTIRE family and not just one wife/one group of children.

All students in Nevada are eligible for the Millennium scholarship if they have a GPA of 2.75 regardless of income. Pell grant is based on income. We had a fairly moderate income when older DD was in college, not poor but certainly not near her classmates parent’s incomes and she did not qualify for any kind of student aid (other than the Millennium) and she couldn’t get any on her own because she fell under her dad’s income. The Browns are all worth quite a bit more than we were. I can’t imagine any of those kids would qualify. Same for Medicaid. Kind of hard to work that system when the world can see you living in million dollar homes and TLC is writing you a check.

The only thing I found noteworthy this week was the earring thing. I’d never noticed it before. The whole “dad is going to allow you to get your ears pierced and be the one to take you” was creepy. To me it translated to, “you’re eighteen but I’m in charge of what you do with your body.”

I was expecting the Janelle blow up with Kody on this episode. I hope it comes soon and they don't play it for several weeks.

And I thought the ear-piercing thing was cringeworthy. I also cringed when Kody said something about how she respected him and his role as the patriarch (paraphrased).

I feel like the ear piercing thing was there to highlight the dichotomy between how Kody treated the OG kids and how he treats Robyn's. Couldn't be bothered to go along to Ysabel's major surgery, but made such a big deal about going for Aurora's ear piercing.

Also, wasn't Aurora the one who hasn't had Covid yet? The one he wanted the family to Covid test to be around? Yet she can go out somewhere to get her ears pierced? I wonder if Kody called ahead and had everyone at the store take a test. ;)
