Sister Wives

I cried during last nights episode. It brought back memories from last year of when my sister stopped by and we talked through the window and I cried. It was a tough time for me. It broke my heart to watch when the little kids got so upset because they couldn't play together.

Any thoughts on the new Seeking Sister Wives episode?

Another show I won't miss. I remember the Snowdens from previous seasons. Wasn't she the one who insisted on both woman having "compatible" vaginas or something? I think they had to eat the same type of foods for a month. What was that exactly? They are so strange.

Yup

I was actually happy to hear the suggestion of Christine's to go back to Utah. They all seem so miserable in Flagstaff. More so then when they were in Vegas living on the same street. Utah does make sense. It seems to be their home. They all can live under one roof there. Cost of living is cheaper in Utah compared to Flagstaff. Meri's Inn is there. Sorry to read about Meri's mom passing. Meri's mom seemed very nice. It could continue their show and/or cause.

All the teens heard with Christine's suggestion is you're wanting me to be ripped from my friends that I made and start over again. All during Covid no less with everything beyond crazy. Only a few very short years and those teens will fly the nest themselves. Unfortunately, going through the same with our youngest and the need to relocate to home state because of finances and well work is now gone. We asked youngest, what are your plans after high school? Do you see your life where we are living now? Youngest said college and they don't see themselves continuing to live here. Oldest is already one foot out the door. So for us, there's no point of staying for 2 more years barely making ends meet in a sunk cost fallacy just for youngest's high school friends. So I do see Christine's side of it and the teens side of it as well.

So Meri’s mom died couple days ago.

As for tonight’s show - Kody finally visits Meri and Robyn has to call!
Awe, that’s too bad she seemed like a really nice lady. Kind of reminds me of one of my aunts.

For real with Robyn calling. Geez. And he could have called her back later. That just reinforces they don’t really take Meri’s “time” seriously. That said, it was really crappy for Meri to play sly about the girls leaving and it was crappy of the girls not to let him know. Granted, he should have been checking in but still that just felt plain spiteful. Then Kody throwing the “leave my house” thing in Meri’s face. Just so much passive aggression happening between those two.

That was so sad! I just wanted to reach through the screen and hug Truly. ☹

The big difference here is that Christine wants to move back to Utah just to move back to Utah. They’ve said this was the absolute last move. It hasn’t been brought up with anyone else so why put that on her kids plates for them to worry about? Those kids have been uprooted their whole lives. Take it from someone who lived that way as a kid. It does a number on you. IMO your situation and theirs are apples and oranges.

Nope. Of all of them, Christine is the one that absolutely refuses to live together regardless of whether they're in Nevada, Arizona, Utah or the planet Mars. Whatever her motivation is about Utah, it isn't that. And as for the COL, I for one would reeeeealy like to know exactly what their financial situation is. From the outside it all seems untenable but none of the wives ever seem to be concerned about money, nor do they seem to be scrimping on any of the trappings of normal, middle-class lives. :confused3

can you imagine what their cell phone bill must be every month! Granted, we get fleeced in Canada, but it seems like everyone has a smartphone (besides the younger kids). Internet for four houses, electricity for four houses, health insurance for 23 (?) people, car insurance...how do they possibly do it? OH, I didn’t even think of rent on four houses or food.

Does anyone know how much they get paid by TLC? It must be a ton to keep up with their expenses.

Interesting because they all seem to talk about Utah like it was so great being under one roof with all the kids. I did hear insider info with their Vegas homes that they had some very creative financing where their mortgages weren't sustainable long term.

Christine refuses to live with anyone. She has felt she is the basement wife. Strange though as to why she wants to go back to Utah.

Meri-leave, she deserves so much better. Cody will never go back to you. He has Robin, pacifies Christine and Janelle is nothing but the financial best friend.

Based on what?

They aren't really living like a polygamist family anymore. They all have said they don't even talk to one another regularly. They are living like separate families, sharing one guy in bed, minus Mary, who barely has any relationship with Kody. Janelle is the only one brave enough to try and broach the topic with the other wives, and watching that episode was painful! It was so evident that it was totally uncomfortable for them to talk about the state of the family, yet still claiming to be sister wives. They are very hypocritical. At this point, their family seems to be sending a message that polygamy doesn't really work. I thought the point of the show was to educate the rest of us on how polygamy does work. Guess not huh! They are a living testament that sharing one man with other women is not all that appealing, not to mention super complicated.

Go find companionship. Is she suppose to live like a hermit the rest of her life?

I think she’d be smart to stay. She’s getting all her expenses paid. Sure, she is in a loveless ‘marriage’, but that’s ok for some people. Not me, but some.

:confused3Not necessarily, but my take on their situation is different. Legally married or not, they considered themselves married when, during a period of dissatisfaction with one another, she entered into a relationship with another man and was planning to leave with him. The fact that it wasn't actually a man and she was catfished  (boo hoo) makes it no less a betrayal and act of infidelity.

Now, as we all know, some relationships survive cheating and some do not. Theirs has not and what I think should have happened is that if Kody couldn't get passed it, genuinely forgive her and work on rebuilding (a very personal decision), he should have left her somehow. It's much more complicated than it would be in a monogamous couple who could just divorce. He clearly has not forgiven her but for Pete's sake - she started it and I don't remember her ever apologizing to him or asking forgiveness. Wouldn't you, at the very least need that from an unfaithful spouse? And the whole "oh we're all so sorry this terrible thing happened to Meri" was just such a bizarre angle, IMO.

I agree. While I'm sure we weren't shown the entire situation, Meri sought out a relationship with another man. The fact that it turned out to be a deceitful woman is beside the point. She stepped outside of the marriage and it basically blew up in her face.

No way am I excusing Meri's behavior, yet Kody did cut her off emotionally first when he ultimately decided to refuse fertility treatments with her. Robyn offered surrogacy, yet at that point why bother if your husband said no to begin with. No doubt this was a no for Meri years and years prior. Meri's situation is a difficult one. You're the first wife and could only have 1 child, when other wives come along popping out more and more children. Kody surely was insensitive. He's shown this behavior on camera. Even excluding Meri at times.

I do have empathy for Meri of wanting to be accepted, wanting a love, wanting attention, perhaps at one time long ago wanting more children, etc. Resentment stems from both sides. Majority of Meri's neglect was caused by Kody. Kody tends to shift blame a lot lacking personal responsibility and accountability of his actions along with not even taking into account the repercussions of those actions. Yet Meri made the choice to continue on despite the pain and suffering she was under until a time came where she decided to act out.

Ultimately, it's Kody that tipped the boat first and Meri tipped it back and fell completely headfirst overboard. I think that's why there's no apologizing or asking for forgiveness. The other sister wives may have empathy and sympathy for Meri due to them having the front row seat of Kody's treatment of her. Robyn at times almost looks very scared if she steps a toe out of line.
