Sister Wives, anyone???

I agree that Christine is making a valuable contribution by watching the kids. But when you think about it, Meri got a trip to Mexico, Robyn got the 10 day honeymoon in San Diego and Christine got the trip to Vegas. If I was Janelle I would be pretty ticked at my one night in a tent.

Oh for sure! Unless that is something she is 100% totally into. Who knows. I hope so, for her sake, because if not that's pretty messed up :rotfl:

Plus, all the trips are probably paid for by TLC so they have something to film.

Re: One night tent camping trip

I would like to know who did all the packing for the camping trip. I've gone on my share of camping trips and it is a lot of work to pack everything.

I don't see Kody helping out too much with the day to day stuff. He just seems to appear and disappear and I see all the women dealing with the kids and house work.

As for Robyn having another baby. Sorry, I think that is ridiculous. I wonder how much of that is for the show. As if Christine needs to look after yet another kid and as if they have the finances.

Okay, my take.

You are wife #1 and you know from the get go this is gonna be a multiple wife marriage. Okay, as long as it's okay with you.

You are wife #1 and all of a sudden the dh springs, "I want ANOTHER wife!" on you? justifiable homicide.

I wondered that too, but maybe that's all she could take off of work for the time being.

I haven't read thru this entire thread and I'm new to the show. So how does he decide where he's sleeping at each night? Is there a schedule?:rolleyes1

Yes, he said there is a schedule.

One comment on Robyn having a baby. Remember when Meri talked about wanting a baby, Cody told her he would give her the money foe invert, and she decided she did not want to. I think she is going to have the biggest problem with the baby. Plus if they are living in Vegas now, how did she keep her job. something does not add up here.

I thought before Robyn came along he slept with each wife every three nights. Now it must be every four nights.
Not sure how that works when you are trying to make a baby!

I imagine that would go over well. Sorry dear I gotta run, wife #4 is ovulating!

That's a big EWWWW!!!

I occasionally enjoy having the bed to myself if DH is away on a business trip, but I am pretty sure I would not sleep well if he were in someone else's bed...

Just watched the 2 episodes from Sunday. 2 comments
That cabin they rented for 21 people - way too small. Sounds like the teens really wanted to spend Christmas in their own home. Felt bad for them about the move.

So funny when Cody asked the wives if they ever felt like their relationship with another wife was stronger than the relationship with him. Some pausing, then Christine says no. How could they have such a strong, intimate relationship with him if they are only with him about 7-8 days per month and a lot of their time is spent all together? Any personal info he shares about himself is also told to the other wives so their is nothing special there.

Also, can someone explain to me why they can live as polygamists in Nevada but not in Utah?

My DDs were watching this on Sunday and their question was "Why are they so stupid as to put their illegal activities on TV and ten be surprised when the authorities investigate?"

I seriously think Cody had a big idea that if they aired a show about them, the laws would change b/c everybody would like them so much and they'd see that having many wives is OK.:rolleyes1 Didn't happen.
They all seem so surprised about the emails they get and the media stalking them. They had to have know this would happen!

One of the wives commented in the beginning that TLC approached them and asked them to if they wanted to tape and they all agreed. They thought they could explain the dynamics of their family and help people understand it better. (I think TLC forgot to tell them people will actually be watching).

I think it has to do with the fact that Utah recognizes common law marriage and Nevada does not. So he is committing bigamy in Utah but in Nevada since he is only married to Meri everyone else is just sharing the same home.

Ahhh, ok; I was going to ask this very question! I mean, there are probably thousands of men in the US who are legally married to 1 woman, but who have children with 1 or more different women (and have never been legally married to any of them); what makes Utah different? I suppose actually LIVING with the "other" women makes Kody and Co's case different...

What are they going to do for employment in Nevada? At this time only Cody and Janelle are employed. Did they transfer? It will take lots of income to buy the houses in Nevada plus to support that large and growing family.

Well they will get paid from TLC but I have not found any articles relating to their pay … but I did see this little gem …

"There is no public information on how much Kody Brown and his family are paid for 'Sister Wives." Compensation for reality TV shows can vary wildly from a mere pittance to $250,000 an episode for "Kate Plus 8' and a cool million for "Sarah Palin's Alaska."
A best guess would be somewhere under $50,000 per episode."

YIKES, SP got a million per epi!!!

Ohhh, this makes sense. I was under the impression that technically, they're all just a bunch of roommates (except Meri), so what law would they be breaking?

But if Utah recognizes common law marriage then that makes sense.
