Sister Wives, anyone???

Totallllllllly! Totally, totally, totally!!!

The scene with the lotion rubbing on her hands, while he was on the phone? Now, it could have been slick editing... but if not?? Not good. Not good at all. pirate:

what? I guess I'm naive but what did you read into that? The couple has spent everyday outside in the elements. Can't a girl lotion her hands?

I agree, btw, that she is the trophy wife but her husband is no trophy. He rarely acts like a real man-mature, capable, solid. He's an airhead and a narcissist.

The other thing is that I've watched about 15 minutes of this show prior to this episode. I'm not that familiar with the group. They seem like great mothers.

Yes...once a woman start making sure her hands are softer then other wives hands, you better look out. :rolleyes1

No... she was (and again, could have been editing) kinda looking down, and you could tell she was listening, as Kody had Meri on speaker phone.

I don't know anything about the lotion but I will say, Kody should have gone out on his balcony and told Meri that they were alone and then spoke with her ... although I guess alone only means w/o Robyn as TLC would have been right there filming his "speaker" call to his wife. It was a very uncomfortable call I thought between the two of them. :sad2:

BUT as someone that lives in San Diego it was fun seeing all the sights I know well from Mission Beach to Wild Animal Park! :goodvibes

Well the other 2 have 6 kids each and Meri only has 1 child.

I was kinda doing the math and in one epi I believe the ladies said they have Kody for 3 days each and then swap ... so with Robyn joining the pack, it will be 9 days before the ladies have their man back. So if Meri has Kody say Nov 1-3, she does not spend any time with him again until Nov 13th ... :sad2:

Secretly, I believe Robyn knows she has "ruffled" a few feathers and LOVES it. She is the trophy wife. Just thinking back to that whole wedding dressed debacle ... she knows exactly what she is doing. ::yes::

I feel the same exact way. And I can't explain it, I just really feel like she is enjoying the drama and discomfort of the other wives. I think she is just putting up an innocent front, and I can see right through it. I think that Kody is giving Roybn special treatment..him picking out Roybn's wedding dress after she already took the other wives with her to pick it out, having a bigger nicer wedding & reception than the other wives got, taking Roybn on an 11 day honeymoon when all 3 other wives got a 3 day road trip. I don't care what the 3 wives say, I know they're hurting and jealous and angry. You can see it all over their faces. I know that they chose this, but it really does break my heart :sad2: I just feel like they deserve so much better, a man that will love them and only them unconditionally. Kody says he's in love with them all, but I just do not buy it. How can you truly be in love with 4 people at once, really? :confused3 I do know one thing though, Roybn isn't as nice as the wants people to believe..

Oh and CathrynRose, I totally agree with you also, she was listening, and no it's not good at all pirate:

I watched it last night. My opinion of the BK has not changed. When they speak about how proud they are about how he's grown in the last 20 years, I can't help but think how awful it must have been to have been married to him in the "really jerky" years. If this is his "mature, grown-up" phase, can you imagine him 20 years ago?!

My dh has never watched the show. He came in for a few minutes and saw one of the segments of the first 3 wives, and asked me why they do this since it clearly makes them miserable. I told him religion is a strange and powerful thing...

Maria :upsidedow

They can say what they want about Meri not having any more say or higher position than the others, but let's face it....he can walk away from any of the other 3 at any time with no strings attached. Meri is the only one he has an legal obligation to.

Burger King has a legal obligation to all the children. I cannot imagine what kind of child support he would have to pay for 6 or so kids.

Maybe Meri had a car because she just has the one daughter and not a bunch of kids to drive around.

I think going on a honeymoon like that when you have all those kids at home and a new baby is disgusting. I find it bizarre what these women will put up with from "their husband".

I thought it was funny that Christine was talking about how she did not want to miss BK and think about him a lot. It's almost like she and Jenelle want a part time husband and father. Meri seems to have different feelings.

I felt very uncomfortable watching Robyn listen to what should have been a private converstation between Cody and Meri. I felt bad for Meri, but I also felt bad for Robyn. I can't imagine being on my honeymoon listening to my new husband tell someone else he loves her and misses her and that he will text her goodnight later. On the other hand, I can't imagine how Meri felt knowing that her husband was sleeping with someone else.

I also felt like that in the wedding episode when Meri was fixing Cody's tie and saying I wish it was me that you were going to be with. I actually felt really bad for her. I know she chose the lifestyle, but I think out of all the wives, she is the one that is the unhappiest. Oddly enough, I think it said in one episode that Meri is the one who encouraged Cody to seek out Robyn as another wife. Meri sure is a glutton for punishment.

I thought that Janelle showed her unhappiness for the first time in the honeymoon episode. She always seemed to be the non-jealous one who was handling it the best. It's very interesting to see there is now a chink in that armor.

I totally agree with everyone who said that Robyn isn't as nice as she would like to appear. I think she is enjoying being the trophy wife who gets more than everyone else. I'm sure it gives her ego a huge boost after being divorced. I love the way she made it very clear that they did not have sex before marriage, as if that makes it all ok. The emotional bond between Robyn and Cody probably hurt the wives more than any physical bond.

This show is such a train wreck, but yet I still find it fascinating. Go figure.

By the way, Cody's hair drives me NUTS! I want to drag him to a barber shop. My husband calls him the "Fabio wannabe". lol

KiKiMouse....I know he is responsible for all his children, I was just saying he could walk away from the women as he has no legal commitment to THEM, except for child support. Alot less red tape than ending a legal marriage!

I just got a chance to watch this and catch up on the comments. I agree that the honeymoon really was to long-- 7 days would have been plenty, and probably still to many. But Christine said she talked to Robyn and she said she "needed" this. They sort of touched on it without really going in depth, but when he married the first 3 there were no kids. All their time together was able to focus on themselves. As anyone with kids knows, they really change things. They each got time together at the beginning of their marriage without the responsibility of children.

BK and Robyn don't seem like they have had much time to spend together without children around. And to begin a marriage with kids in the house most all the time can be a strain, especially during the "honeymoon" phase;). Having a longer period of time on the honeymoon to spend together is probably something that she needed.

I also think that, as is so common, a lot of the editing is manipulating the situation. I am not so sure that Robyn could overhear BK on the phone with Meri. It looked they were in a Suite, he was in the living room and she was in the bathroom in the bedroom. Maybe she could overhear a bit, but I think they were trying to make it seem worse than it was. For all we know when the actual phone call was going on the doors were closed and the water was running in the bathroom.

Not a lifestyle that works for me, but to each their own. They aren't hurting anyone, their children seem happy and well cared for. They certainly seem like a family I would prefer to spend time with more than some of the others I know!

Up until this episode, I have enjoyed the show and have been surprised at how normal this family appears. But I have to say the honeymoon episode bothered me. The constant affection, which is normal for a honeymooning couple, was almost hard to watch. The other wives stay home with all the kids, while he is off in San Diego with the new, young, hot wife. The phone call with Meri seemed very sad to me. It seemed like she was craving more attention and conversation with her husband but he cut her off.

This is the episode that has made me realize that the reason this "lifestyle" is so uncommonly practiced is because its unfair to the core. He gets the cool car, the trip to Mexico with Meri, the trip to San Diego with Robyn, the new baby with (is it Christine?) and it seems like Janelle is left to work all the time. I am sorry, to work all day long, to pay for my husband to honeymoon with some new wife would be grounds for a Lorena Bobbit moment in my book. I know BK works too, but in the end, he can't make enough to support the whole crew, Janelle contributes as much or maybe more.

When he had just the 3 wives that for some reason didn't seem so bad, and they all seemed to get along. Now Robyn has come along and frankly, it sort of makes me want to puke to see them together.

I just cannot imagine how it must feel to know your husband is off on his honeymoon and the fact the other three honeymoons were so short and frugal just sort of adds insult to injury.

As this show progresses, I am liking the original three wives more and disliking BK and Robyn a lot! Wait until young bride has to lay there one night while he's in some other part of the house with one of the other wives. See how she likes it!

Hi everyone
I really enjoy this show and I really like the first 3 wives, not that crazy about Robyn. I agree that she is not as sweet as she acts.
Besides how sad and angry the wives felt about the fancy wedding and long honeymoon, I couldn't help but wonder what they think of a father leaving his newborn daughter for 11 days and not being more upset. I don't remember him being sad at all about leaving baby Truely. Maybe I missed that part.

Don't you think alot of the changes have come due to the show? There is much more opportunity for them than before. Not only is there a paycheck from the show for them which gives more money for other things, but I also imagine TLC is picking up the tab for lots of things, such as the 11 day trip to have something interesting to film and draw an audience with. That brings up another point...wonder how they are being paid from TLC, is each one getting a separate check in equal amounts and if not, how is it decided who gets what???

Ok, on the show they said they used to homeschool but found a polygamous private school so they send their kids there now.

Now today on Oprah they casually said, "And our children go to PUBLIC school." as if that has always been the case.

So, between the airing of the first show where they say their kids go to a private school for polygamous kids to today, did they switch schools?

I am very confused.

The show was produced last spring/this summer. So maybe the kids switched schools this Fall. Like private schools in our area, many are closing, the tuition is getting high.

I thought on the show they said they could go to the private school but didn't. I never heard them say they homeschooled.

The second season of "Sister Wives" starts on Sunday, 3/13/11 on TLC at 9PM ... who's going to watch? :happytv: ...

Kody & Company ;) have been doing the talk show circuit this week to promote the new season ... so far I have seen them on The Today Show, Ellen and Access Hollywood Live ... I have noticed that Robyn seems to be the most talkative of the group during the interviews and seems to really be enjoying all the media attention - as well as her acrylic, french-manicured nails ;) ... Christine comes in a close second as far as being most talkative ... Kody, surprisingly, has seemed to have toned it down a bit too - i.e. not so dramatic ...

Since last season, they have moved to Nevada and are now living in four separate houses ...

From their interviews, IMO, I don't know how Christine and Robyn actually get along with each ... they just both seem to be the most attention-seeking and dominate ... it'll be interesting to see how they interact with each other on the show ... :)

How odd as I saw them on JOY BEHAR's show online and I thought Robyn said that they are living in TWO houses. :confused3

I could be wrong, but it looks like one of the wives is pregnant (janelle?). She isn't the one that just had a baby...it's the other blond...but not Meri. LOL
