The new Figment ride scared my sister,5, half to death.:sad2: Why the change?I felt so bad for her. Has anyone else had this problem? :confused3 Have you also noticed that all the rides are scary in some sort of way for a younger child?

I think it's normal for kids to change what they like from age to age. My 3 year old son decided on this trip to Disneyland that he really didn't like POTC, even though he *likes* pirates. But the images were just too disturbing for him (3 year olds not really understanding skeletons, let alone models of skeletons).

And I agree that the rides are scary to a certain extent, with ver few exceptions. I mean, even Disney movies have scary moments...Lion King every time Scar shows up (to name just one moment), Cinderella's stepsisters (I had to be taken home as a child, when it was playing in theaters, b/c I was so incredibly frightened by the stepsisters), and so on.

Give your sister another year, and I'm sure her opinion will change again. :)

The big bang at the end of the ride scares both of my kids. Heck, I even jumped out of my seat the first time.

My daughter is the same way. And you are right....Even the Peter Pan ride. I think my DD only likes Small World. No dark spaces. Figment scared me also. And I was a huge fan until they redid the ride. I see we are going to be there the same time, I hope she does well this time and good luck.

The bang causes my DS to cry every time... but he loves the rest of the ride!

This is my exact concern. We are going in a month and my 8 month old DS startles so easily that I am so afraid he is going to get startled at one thing in a ride and then we will spend the rest of the time trying to calm him down. Everyone says how easy it is to go with a baby, but what if your baby is really sensitive. I also don't want to ruin it for other people that are on the ride to have to listen to a baby that just got scared. Does anyone have any suggestions other than not going on the ride. We also have a 3 year old DD, so we want to experience these things with her as well. Do they do baby swaps on kid-friendly rides? I have never heard of it but who knows?

We tried swaping last year and that was a joke. They really don't do that on most rides. The Nemo ride is even scary! A fish jumps out of the dark which is the really scary looking fish also. I just don't get it. Me and my husband trade off for rides with my DD13. I do the tamer rides and he does the wilder rides. The only ride that she feels comfortable on is Small World. No dark areas, nothing jumping out, no bangs! Why can't they have more toddler friendly rides. Even the Pooh ride scared her, the Hefelumps(sp?) were scary and strange looking. That is the only thing that really bothers me and if you don't do rides you don't get any million dream chances. How is that fair?

I rode the Figment right twice *just* last week... but I caemember that big bang you are all talking about. :confused3 Can someone explain what part it is? Obviously it didn't scare me, 'cause I can't even recall what part it was.

We did not even attempt this ride with DS3 last week. I knew it would scare him to death. Almost every ride did except Dumbo, the Teacups, and Indy Cars. Everything else scared him. I was really sad about the fact that so many rides are scary for kids.

My daughter cried on figment too! I thought it would have been a great ride for little ones but the part where the stinky smell comes at you and the bang scared her. She wasn't scared on anything else though. By the way, she's 1 yrs old.

It's so weird what children respond to - my 2 year old boy took in Peter Pan, Pirates of the Carribean, and even the Norway ride (which I thought was pretty intense) in a state of total relaxation, and then freaked when we tried to take him on Cinderella's Carousel:goodvibes What was that about? I really think you just have to pick a few mild ones that you know are really calm - Small World, Jungle Cruise, the ride in epcot at the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot, etc., and build your way up gradually while you see how they respond. I hate seeing "grown-up's" dragging shrieking, terrified toddlers on Dinosaur and such - they should all have their Fastpass privileges revoked and their mouse ears confiscated:thumbsup2
