We've stayed there a couple of times, and we're actually going to stay again at the tail end of our Orlando trip during President's week. The nice thing about this place is that they have some "suite" rooms, that are more accommodating for our family of 5. They have 2 queens and a pull-out, plus a small kitchen. I think we're paying something like $169 a night.
The rooms can't really measure up to Disney standards. This is an older resort, and it shows in some places. However, we have always found it to be clean, the staff friendly, no complaints that I can think of. It is in a great location, you can walk right onto the beach. There are also two pools, a nice pool bar to watch the sunset. There are a few good places to eat nearby (we like the Cuban restaurant just a short walk away). This year we are going to head over to Fort De Soto park again, which is probably less than 10 minutes away (awesome beach, Fort is interesting for the kids, nice picnic areas). We also went to a nearby nature preserve, the name of which totally escapes me now. It was a small nature park, with nice walking trails, and we saw a number of alligators and osprey. The front-desk staff were really great about giving us ideas for things to do, and this was one of their recommendations.
It is also just down the road from Pass-a-grille, which is a funky little Old Florida town, where you can eat a grouper sandwich and watch the sunset.
So, if you lower your expectations a bit in regard to room decor, this is a legit 3 star hotel, right on the beach, with pretty reasonable rates. The one gotcha that I've read (go to Tripadvisor.com to see more review) is that they do a lot of weddings and corporate meetings, so there can sometimes be "that" type of crowd

(i.e. maybe a few folks cutting a little more loose than they should). However, we have not run into this during our previous stays, all of which have been in February.
Enjoy your stay!
