singles over 50 going to wdw

My partner "strongly dislikes" WDW. That's the family-friendly way to put it. So I go alone and have a blast. Really. I mostly do counter food so eating alone has never been a problem.

spiceycat, I realize there are more women, than men, who are into Disney here. And, maybe it's like finding a needle in a hay stack, but the last thing I need is a sports jock!;)

TC:cool1:

hey agreed completely - avoid sports (despite my nephew playing baseball) - but they can be better than the ones at the bar - who won't go away.....

some men don't understand that no is NO and is not going to change.

oh if you are looking for a man - might try WWoS - or the offsite sports field.
curlgirl71,

If you're looking for someone with a spiritual connection between their couch and ESPN, the sports bars might be a good choice. If they're interested in Disney from a historical, engineering, marketing, landscaping, architecture or just fun perspective they'll be in the parks.

re: dining alone - that's how we'll know you're single!

60yr male I go to WDW 2-3 times a year

I will be there in Nov. and it looks like you will be there in Dec.

Are you planning on going to the solos DIS Meet in May?

I'm single '54' and travel lot with my job so I'm use to eating alone. I enjoy solo trips to Disney, I haven't found a TS meal yet where I was uncomfortable because I'm solo. Plus it's nice to go where I want when I want. Even when my son, who is 26, does join me, he's normally off on his own and we might meet up every once in awhile for a meal. I have met others from the Disboards while there and we have a great time.

I will be 50 in Feb. I lost my sister who was my WDW travel buddy. We loved our Disney trips. My last trip was in '04 with her and her daughter. She passed away in '08. Not knowing anyone else that is really into Disney the way I am, I want to go solo someday, but i'm nervous about memories of past visits with loved ones cropping up while i'm there. So I really understand your fear!

A few weeks shy of 58 and my last solo was back in late April of this year for the F & G Show. I was hoping to hit the World for Christmas this year but planning didn't work out.
I've gone solo 3 times so far and it doesn't bother me a bit although a companion would be nice, too.

I'm what I like to consider a 'young' 63, but I guess we all consider ourselves a young something. :rotfl:

With the exception of twice I have been going solo for the last 10 years. I have never met any other solo travelers, male or female. As a male, I kind of understand a ladies resistance to someone traveling alone, so I frankly haven't looked for anyone while I was there.

I'm heading down to WDW on the 5th of December for a week and I have no expectations that I will meet anyone on this trip either. I mostly meet couples that seem totally bewildered that I would be traveling alone especially to WDW. I guess as a male it is not sufficiently macho to travel to a place like Disney alone.:cool2:

I will be doing my first solo trip starting on the 6th. I usually have a group of kids and grandkids along. Am a little nervous about the whole eating alone but I'm sure once I get this trip under my belt I'll be anxious to do it over and over. Plus I'm really looking forward to the decorations as I haven't been able to go in December since 2002!!

over 50 , and have done numerous solo trips, try to go twice a year, usually 2 or 3 weeks at a time,
occasionally I wish I had someone with to share the fun with, but when that happens I throw myself back into the WDW experience and have fun..

as far as dining alone, I don't worry about what others think, if someone wants to worry about me dining alone, they spent s lot of money to go to WDW, to not be immersed in the experience..LOL

I have to admit that I am bewildered about the "eating alone" problem. Can anyone tell me why this is a problem? I understand that a few generations ago it was considered shameful for a woman to be dining alone. No husband, boyfriend, etc.!!! But today? I don't understand it. We are human and one of the basic needs of a human is to eat. How did it ever become a problem for a male or female to be dining alone?:confused3

I have always dined alone in the mall in my home town, so this never bothered me at Disney World. I also dine alone before i have an evening class. It would not make sense to drive home only to have 5 minutes for dinner.

I think the only exception I could make is the possibility of dining alone on Valentines Day. I would feel pretty awful about that.
