It’s been a couple years since I was at Disneyland and since then they’ve brought back single rider for Space and Soarin’ and Tiana’s opened. How quick/effective are those single rider lines? Also Tiana’s doesn’t show up on the app as having single rider but I’ve seen articles about it so I’m just wondering if they are for sure using the SR line? TIA

In my experience, both Space and Soarin are extremely CM dependent. We've done it with very efficient cast members who can multi-task. Other times, it is as if the CM doesn't realize there is a single rider line (especially on Space since you are behind them). Space is such a fast loading ride that if they don't grab a single rider immediately, it takes off with an empty seat. On Soarin, I went with a friend and we were split up - one went to the theater on the right and the other went to the theater on the left. My friend was seated in the first show. I, on the other hand, had to wait through several shows before they sat me. Instead of grabbing a single rider, the CM walked up and down the standby line asking for parties of one or two to come forward. She did that over and over until there was a change of CM. When the new CM arrived, I was seated in the next showing.

Tiana's is set up for single rider but I haven't heard of them using it yet.

They are using it, and since there is no sign or publicity, it's almost a walk-on.

RSR, Webslingers, MF:SR, and Matterhorn also have single rider lines that tend to work very well.

Tiana's is on the sign - I think it's easy to miss, especially if you're coming around from Pooh.

For me, Tiana's single rider is CM-dependent, too. Some of the CMs will do what they can to match up standby parties into groups of six - the SR line might be short, but it could be a half-hour or more if they're able to pull that off. Still probably better than the standby line on an average day.

Anecdotally, Space Mountain's line has seemingly gotten a lot longer since they moved it out of the hallway and to the outside - it's a lot more visible than it was. It was almost a hidden secret before, but I didn't even bother to get into it on my last visits in January (on what were relatively quiet days). It can also be CM-dependent - occasionally, they'll just forget it's there. (It's sometimes frustrating to stand there and watch a train launch with empty seats.) Again, probably still faster than the standby line.

Frankly, I'm not sure I'd ever want to use Soarin's SR. The few times I have (or just been in line as a single), I've ended up in the worst seat in the section. (Not always, but it feels very hit and miss.) I'd rather hit it in the morning with a short standby line - that way, I've got the option to ask for a more desirable section/row. (I'm a little bit picky, though - I'd rather wait for the next showing than be way out on the edges.)

I'm a big fan of the other SRs, though.

That last time we did single rider for Space Mountain, the CM didn't use single riders at all. He didn't grab from the standby line either. He just kept leaving seats empty. Someone in our queue started shouting "single rider" whenever it was obvious that there was a space. It worked, so every empty seat after that people would shout "single rider."

I like to ride Space as many times as possible and especially since it’ll be Hyperspace when I go in April I’m thinking the single rider line might be shortest the first couple hours of the day so I might try dedicating an hour or two in the morning just dedicated to that. Has anyone had any experience with doing single rider early in the morning before it gets long?

I just saw an article that said the Space Mountain single rider line doesn’t open until 10 AM. Can anyone confirm that?

Most of the rides in the park don't open their SRL until the standby wait time is above a certain threshold. I would be gently skeptical that Space's opens at 10am on the dot - but that would be about right in terms of standby wait time. Either way, I would be very surprised if was available at park open, especially as labor-intensive as that particular one is for CMs.

I don;t believe that is right. I tend to his tomorrowland first and try to be there for rope drop. I am sure I have done single rider before 9 AM before. Early is the time to go though as I have not even had to stop by the theater to wait. I just walk over to the desk for the handicap riders and ask for single rider and given the paper to head down that way. This past Saturday I think we probably got to that area between 9:30-45 and I saw a short line (first time seeing one so early). I stopped in the bathroom and when I came out the line of 7-8 people had been taken down to wait, so I started the line again. The ride went down and when the previous SRs came out, they told us and the about 7-8 of us waiting all dispersed.

Tiana's tends to be good because not as many people know it exists. You also get the cast member's attention when you're standing there, so they usually get you on quickly.

Space is hit or miss with the cast member. Unfortunately the only way to know is to get in line. If it's really long and not moving, you might be better off leaving.
