Single parent concerns

Thank you for all your replies.

I am a single parent. I am still legally married, but have sole custody of my son, no visitation (long story here). Im glad I heard that this might be a problem. I will bring a copy of my court papers just in case.

I was, however, informed, my son will need a picture ID by the travel agent. He is 11 and has never had one. I heard I can obtain this at any motor vehicle dept.

Just got back today!

Welcome home, sdoane. Hope you helped Brianna blow out all those birthday candles! My son just turned double digits earlier this month. Geez, they grow up so quickly...

I think she was a little bit confused. She thinks her B-day is the plurality instead of a DAY. I met up with a friend at WDW the day before her B-day and they celebrated with a cake. Then her big day came. WDW was wonderful b/c they wouldn't stop celebrating her b-day. After the 3rd day of her celebrating I put it to a stop b/c her head became to big for her! Oh well, she's only 4 once!;)

Hi L24 teacher

I hope you are feeling much more positive about your cruise. I know exactly that sinking feeling.......when you think you'll have to get permission from your ex!!
I am a single parent and am taking my daughter on a 3 day trip on December 4th. I was researching all the things I would need for the trip and ......got that same sinking feeling when I read that I would need permission............OH NO!!!!!!!
After a few days in a panic....caused by the sinking feeling....I got an e-mail from DCL to say that permission wasn't necessary for me as I am an Overseas visitor (we live in Scotland)and we are therefore outwith US jurisdiction.
I certainly hope so------no surprises/shocks to come I hope.

So please don't worry -(easy for me to say I suppose). I am slowly getting more excited about the cruise. Only 4 months.....yahoo.......I am bringing my daughter, mum and sister.we are all squeezing into a Cat 11 , i believe one bed folds down from the ceiling. If we are too cramped it won't matter for such a short time and i don't plan on spending too much time in the room anyway.

Hope you have a dream holiday.

You know, there was a thread just like this one about six weeks ago - as I was packing for my cruise. However, that thread was far more slanted toward GET THE NOTARIZED document. Sinking feeling was an understatement. I have joint custody and was down right scared of one of two scenerios: ex saying "no way" or being denied boarding. So I bit the bullet and had him go through the effort to get the letter notarized. (We were on a four day.) Anyway - total waste - No one asked or cared - not necessary in any way and I wish I hadn't worried about it.
Just my experience,
Barbara

PS - I would like to add that I think if it was required, Disney would mention it - somewhere, and, unless I missed something, it isn't mentioned. There is a form for children not traveling with their parents but that is as close as I could find.
