Hi,
I have a friend who wants to go with our group and bring her son. She thinks she can swing the price of a Cat. 12. I think at least she will be on the ship. Just how bad can they be? She asked me to ask you guys if anyone knows what they are like. It will be her and her ten year old boy. Do they have twin beds, or bunks. Has anyone ever stayed in one ?
thanks,

They are exactly the same as the category 11 room, which is very popular. The only difference is the cat. 12 will only sleep 3 and some 11's sleep 4. For a party of 2, it should be just perfect. There will be a queen bed and the sofa will flip down to form a single bed, which will prepared each night by the cabin steward. The 12's are all on deck 2 which is also where almost all of the category 9 and 10 rooms are. All the rooms are equally well appointed. The 11 and 12 have a single bathroom, the 10 to 5 are the same room with either no view, a porthole, or a verandah of some sort and the split bath. A 12 should be very nice.

It was great. Our friends were in a 4 so we checked out their veranda once, but other than that, didn't notice a thing. The 11s are thought to have a better location, but when we had one on deck 6 we didn't like it as much as our cozy quiet cabin on 2!!

Also they can split her "queen" into "twins." Not a problem!!!
:p

The 12 and 11 are 184 sq. ft.; the 10 (deluxe inside, where the split baths begin), 9 & 8 (each with picture window/porthole) are each 214 sq. ft.; 7 (Navigator Verandah), 6 & 5 (regular verandah) are 268 sq. ft. But the 12 should be fine for your friend and her son. All of the staterooms are nicely appointed.

Sounds great.....why not?
They will receive the same dining, service, entertainment :)

Also, it is important to mention here that the larger square footage on the categories 7, 6 and 5 are only because they are adding in the verandah space. The room size itself is exactly the same as the 8, 9 and 10 categories, all which also have split baths.

Should she? Absolutely!
We were just talking today about how some people prefer the bath in cat. 11 & 12 because it feels more comfortable than the split bath in the other rooms.

and have her keep in mind this isn't the Titanic with different levels of service, dining, etc. based on the cabin category. The 12's eat with the 3's, the 4's sit side by side in the spa with the 11's. Everything is the same for all(except of course the special ammenities for the cat. 1-3 suites)

I am a single mom and I would say ABSOLUTELY. We spent very little time in our room, we were in a Category 11 (because all the 12's were booked!!!!)

Our cabin steward made up the sofa for my daughter each night even thought the queen would have slept us both quite comfortably (she is only 9). My daughter loved that bed......she had her space and I had mine!

We had 4 people in a 11 (one 12 and one 8) and it was fine. Since 11 &12 are the same except location, for two people, especially a child, a 12 will be terrific!!!!

DO IT !!! DO IT !!! DO IT !!!

On my first cruise, I stayed in cat. 12 with a "16" year old niece. We had a blast! It was like Disney Magic before our eyes -- we were amazed at how we fit all our belongings in the storage provided, no problem (just imagine what a 16 year girl brought with her!), everything had a place to be stored. Same for the bathroom. We were intimidated at the small size at first but quickly realized that we were quite comfortable in that little bathroom, and loved the bath products too. Very well designed space. We did not even bother having the sofa bed made up for my niece. We shared the two twin beds that were attached/made up together (as double or queen) and we both slept fine.

If it were a choice that I had to make again, I would definately do it. A cat. 12 on Disney blows away many of the staterooms that I have looked into booking on other cruise ships!!! Recent cruise decision -- back on Disney Wonder rather than others that I looked into; thus, I will be on the Wonder again next month! Also, we really did not spend much time in the room at all (showering and sleeping); there is too much fun to be had on that ship!!! So tell her to go and have as much fun in her cat. 12 as I did (if she has half the fun I had, she will be a happy sailor!).

We stayed in a Cat. 12 in May and thought it was great. We have sailed Carnival and Royal Caribbean in the past (also in the cheapest category) and Disney's Cat. 12 is fantastic compared to other cruise lines. The room was much bigger and nicer. You are only in there to sleep, shower, and get ready for dinners. It is plenty big and very nice!! You'll have a blast.

Hi,
Thanks everyone for all your posts. My friend said after reading all of them its really a easy call. They will be with our group on March 8th.
thanks again,

I am a single mom and we went for spring break this year. We were booked for a 12 but heard that our room was under the disco so we upgraded (only $200) to a cat. 11 on deck 6 (inside stateroom). The location was better but from what I hear people seem happy on deck 2. It's absolutely the best trip we have ever taken. . DO IT!!!!!!

Forgot to mention this...it threw me when we first began to think about a trip. The first 2 people in the room pay the full fare, regardless of age. A parent and a baby would pay for 2 adults, same with a mother and a ten year old, same as 2 adults cruising without children. She might have already figured that price, but if she was counting on an adult fare and a child $399 fare, she'll be surprised.:(
