Single Mom with 5 year old

I'm a newly single (divorced) Mom taking 5 year old to Disney for short (2 day) visit 3/6,7. Staying with friend in Orlando area. I've been there many times without kids. Any tips you can offer? Should I rent a stroller? What's the best rides? How do we best see the Princesses? I have dinner planned at GF on Sat. night and CP lunch in MK. Do I do Animal Kingdom or MGM 2nd day? Thanks!

I was in the exact same situatuion several years ago...and it was a wonderful vacation. I will never forget the look on my DD face as she watched tink fly out of the castle before the fireworks. That one moment will be one of the most memorable highlights of her childhood for me. I would say no to a stroller at that age...but I am not a big stroller person. They just seem to get in the way for me. But if you are staying off site, and will be at the parks all day, it may be a good idea...so she has some resting time. She loved the characters, and getting autographs, and of course, all of the rides. They did not have AK back then, but she loved MGM and all the shows. I suggest being flexible, doing what she wants to do, with a few special things planned (like you have already done) and just have a great time being with her. She was (and still is at 16 yo) a huge donald duck fan...so we spent alot of time duck hunting. I still have a picture of her with Donald hanging up from that trip...the look on her face is priceless. I just know it will be a really special vacation for you both. You just can't go wrong at WDW. Enjoy your time with her!
