Singing on the Pirates Ride??

If I were taking someone on thier first visit, and all the could hear is people singing over the attraction audio I would be very sorry for my friend.

One things I hate about hearing people point things out in the park, is how poor thier information is. Misinforming their group and others around. If you are a casual guest be casual, no reason to tell you kid that the chassis from the Rainbow Ridge Stacoach are used in the Indy Jeeps now. <- No kidding.

Even though hard of hearing, I listen to folks talk in the eateries and really am surprized at what they say..but realized many go to the parks knowing nothing and leave the same way. I make occasional mistakes but at least someone here will correct me and life goes on.

ARe you the same person who said my answer told them something about me? It was after I said I never thought I had been ruining anyones entire experience.
Anyway, I dont know if that was you, but that was the quote that changed this thread for me. I had just ADMITTED that I never thought about that.... and to me, that meant something like, Wow, Ill have to look at this totally different now since that never dawned on me. AND that never dawned on me becasue nobody had ever said one word that it had ever bothered them one bit, let alone ruined thier entire experience.
Of course I would stop if anyone even HINTED that it bothered them!

And you sure assume a lot. Now you are assuming I asked and never planned on changing or whatever. I am not looking for an argument, so since I think someone else is, Im done here.

Well, it appears you won't be checking back in, but for the record to clear my name, no, I'm not the one that made the comment that hurt your feelings, which you could have gone back to see at any time. I suppose you *assumed* that and took your emotions out on me instead. I'm done here as well, as I have more than answered your original question.

I sing to myself but never loudly for others to hear.

I would be a bit annoyed if a boat mate did.

I had someone in our boat doing this the first time I rode Pirates and it was frustrating. I just wanted to experience the ride and it was a day where lines were crazy, so it wasn't like I could just hop back on and hear the audio.

It also bothers me when people recite all the lines at Haunted Mansion, so maybe I'm just kind of lame. :confused3

I have to say that it would annoy me. I only get to Disneyland once ever four years or so, and I've invested a lot of money in my trip. To have to listen to others singing through a ride spoils it for me. I can only go during high peak times, so getting back in line for another hour just because someone wants to sing through the ride is not always feasible.

I have to say, though, that I hate those who talk on cell phones or loudly have a discussion that has nothing to do with the ride (during the ride) even more annoying. It's easy to have fun without annoying everyone around you.

I wouldn't join in (no one wants to hear ME sing :rotfl:), but I have been on Pirates when others in the boat have sung along with the theme song & for some reason, it makes me laugh...same thing happens when people sing along on it's a small world. I think it's funny & it doesn't bother me.

Now, when I was the only non-teenager on a boatful of teenagers who'd apparently just learned about "the birds & the bees" before Christmas vacation (don't know if I can say the ess eeee ex word here) & they were yelling out, er...clinical terms the entire time...THAT got annoying. (What a bunch of skeletons have to do with that sort of thing, I do not know :confused3 , but they found it amusing...)

No singing, and no flash photography, please.

Follow the rules of movie theater, and you will be a considerate soul! :goodvibes

Man oh man oh man! I haven't seen such a heated post over so much silliness in a long time. Yup, my family (several trained singers in the group) sing during the very first part of POTC. And, yes, I confess, we've sung a bit during Small World ( tend to get bored with that one and quit pretty soon). And, at WDW have even been known to sing out a bit during Carousel of Progress. Yes, the singing is short lived and not continued throughout the ride...we appreciate the magic of Disney too. However, we have NEVER flashed our camera, cell phone, or video camera anywhere on a dark ride. We have never talked on a cell phone, sworn, carried on an obvious argument, berated each other or our children or CM's, other patrons, etc during a ride/attraction. I have seen and heard near attrocities commited by parents, couples and even CM's on rides. BUT I have never had anyone even frown at us for singing. And...if I did, or anyone even looked like it was bothering them we would immediately stop. Lighten up folks...this is an amusement park...not the Met.

I'm kind of amazed people know enough of the words to sing through the whole ride! Whenever I hear people sing, it goes "Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirate's life for me" and then segues into slightly awkward humming.

My kids can do a front to back narative for most of the rides including the ones with music, but they dummy up when riding.

To me it's comparable to going to a concert or a movie and having someone sing along with every song in my ear or recite lines throughout the movie. I'm paying to see the band/actors perform, not some random person. It doesn't matter to me if you have a horrible voice or are trained singers, I wish you would save it for a sing along during the car ride home or something and just let people enjoy the regular audio on a ride.

Thank you, well said.

So I have to ask, because I am honestly curious. Is it just someone signing a few bars to a song in the ride, or does it bother when people vocalize anything during the ride?

I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as they werent obnoxious about it or overly loud. I like the vibe that gets put out when people are genuinly having fun!

It doesn't bother me when people are pointing things out in a "Oh, wow!" kind of way. It's natural to be surprised and awed by the "magic." Singing or reciting and anything that gives away a surprise (I've even had to correct my son for exclaiming "here comes a drop!" or whatever and explained to him that people might like to discover things for themselves. He's also a fan of telling me when something is going to happen in a movie he's seen and I haven't, so it's a theme we're working on :lmao: ) bothers me. That's just my two cents though, obviously.

I remember when i was younger going to Nsync concerts and so many people would be singing some songs you couldnt even hear the guys. That was pretty disappointing.
