Singing on the Pirates Ride??

If I do not like the ride experience I just do it again. I can not stand the flash photography..that puts a damper on the experience..then I look at the person doing the flash photo's and then I understand why...sorry about profiling.

Singing in the POTC ride doesn't bother me half as much as the large gangs of people who recite the opening narrative in the stretching room of the HM ride. When 10-15 people recite dialogue, it is very difficult to clearly make out the intended message. I can remember, after MUCH preparation, taking my timid 7-year-old into this ride for her first time, and having the experience almost ruined by a huge crowd of people reciting the entire thing, enhanced of course with the obnoxious scream in the dark at the end. Yes, we all know that you've been on this ride enough to memorize it, and we're all very proud of your ability to shriek, but please, consider people who are experiencing the ride for the first time. (phew...rant over)

I have to agree even though I know the whole narrative I dummy up, the boss would kill me if I did not.

Thanks for posting this. I actually wanted to use this as an argument against this:

Sorry but it is a bit hyperbolic to state I or anyone else singing a line in a song that is playing during a ride could ruin an entire experience for someone.

Just because the words are already being said (or sung) doesn't mean that it's okay to speak (or sing) over them. It really does affect those around you. The recorded version is by professionals, and you may be a great singer, or you may not be, but I would like to be able to hear the original Disney version, not your version.

Do I think it's annoying? Yeah, probably a bit.

Do I think it would be fun? I think a round or two would absolutely be fun. Just not through the whole ride.

My opinion is to keep it in the line. I've had people break into songs while waiting in a long line (D-U-M-B-O comes to mind) and I think that's fun and keeps your mind off the waiting, but when it comes time to ride, I think it's time to let everyone experience it as it was intended...just my 2 cents:rolleyes1

Genius. I would be up for some line singing.

:rotfl2: Well I can certainly see the ones I hope are not on the ride with me!

Hey, all in good fun. Your experience is no more important than mine.
Relax and dont look for things to be mad about.

Do I enjoy squaling babies?
Crying children?
Chatty people?
Pukers?
People eating things that stink the whole place up?
People who hold the bar and in doing so pull my hair the entire ride?

You know, I cant stand a crying baby on the entire ride. Or someone who talks the whole time. BUt I have sat through that. Did I make a stink? No. I would never. I simply get back in line and do it again.

Hey, have a beautiful day! :thumbsup2

Okay, good for you. :confused3

All things in moderation. A little singing doesn't bother me all that much but there are some who go a little overboard with it.

Really not sure why you brought it up then...

You're going to do what you want anyway.

That is absolutely true, but my experience is also no less important than yours. If someone were to politely ask you to not sing, would you continue? If you were made aware that you were upsetting someone and continued anyway, then I would interpret that as disregarding one's experience as less valid than your own.

I love hearing people sing and have fun! If you can memorize the whole song then more power to ya! No matter what ride..... I have been to Disneyland several times now and love hearing people have fun! that makes it more fun for my family! Averse hear and there .... does it really bother you that much? I want more than anything for my kids and family too feel an awesome emotion on any ride! Too hear other peoples history or story telling or singing, while on a ride, during the line or after the ride is wonderful in my opinion! Just relax a little and enjoy Disney the way everyone enjoys it!

Whoa, just a minute. Are you really assuming that I think anyone is less important? IF SOMEONE WERE TO.... nobody ever has, so dont go assuming anything about me.

There is absolutely no reason for this thread to have gone off in this direction.
Wow people, I am an actual human being, not just some typed letters coming across your screen. I mean, I understand how some people can forget that, but come on. :confused3
I say I SING AND HAVE AT DISNEYLAND and some have a way of making me into some abusive self centered monster.. for singing and having fun? OMG this is laughable or really really sad.

If I were taking someone on thier first visit, and all the could hear is people singing over the attraction audio I would be very sorry for my friend.

One things I hate about hearing people point things out in the park, is how poor thier information is. Misinforming their group and others around. If you are a casual guest be casual, no reason to tell you kid that the chassis from the Rainbow Ridge Stacoach are used in the Indy Jeeps now. <- No kidding.

Yea, sorry if others do not like it, but generaly there are at least 7 of us on the pirate ride singing away at the beginning. We move as a large group since so many of us go, and many times over chirstmas took up the whole boat :rotfl2: There were 19 of us.

I realize other's may get upset....but er, it's kinda a tradition for us. But we stop fairly quickly after the 1 st drop, honest!

So how many drops does the DL version have WDW only has one

It would bug me, too. BUT.....it would be so much better than my last experience on POTC when the guy behind us was trying to "save" the entire boat. He quoted scripture the ENTIRE ride. Wow.

I would have kindly ask him to stop I don't mind listening to it but there is a time and a place for it

That's why I asked what you would do IF someone asked. I didn't say you were a monster. I was genuinely curious if you would stop if someone asked you to. You didn't answer that question. If you said "No, I wouldn't stop", then I would have considered that as you placing your own experience over that of others. If you would have said "Of course I would stop if someone asked", then I would have commended you for taking others into consideration.

I agree that this thread got heated, but I also don't understand why you asked any question asking for the opinions of others if it wouldn't affect you either way? :confused3

It as two drops, and the space between them is when the song plays. And should anyone ever ask that I not sing a line from a song, for less then a minute, I would not open my mouth.

ARe you the same person who said my answer told them something about me? It was after I said I never thought I had been ruining anyones entire experience.
Anyway, I dont know if that was you, but that was the quote that changed this thread for me. I had just ADMITTED that I never thought about that.... and to me, that meant something like, Wow, Ill have to look at this totally different now since that never dawned on me. AND that never dawned on me becasue nobody had ever said one word that it had ever bothered them one bit, let alone ruined thier entire experience.
Of course I would stop if anyone even HINTED that it bothered them!

And you sure assume a lot. Now you are assuming I asked and never planned on changing or whatever. I am not looking for an argument, so since I think someone else is, Im done here.

Please dont sing in my absence.
I dont want to ruin the whole thread for others.
