Since when did 'amigo' become a bad word?

My boyfriend is Latino (here legally from la Republica Dominicana) and he's all for secure borders and against new amnesty. So to imply there is ONE Latino position on illegal immigration is a false presumption.

another Zombie thread- they have increased lately?

Yup - it's because of those stupid boxes with pictures and thread titles posted down below the actual active thread. I have no idea how they are selected for display, but they're always old. I actually almost resurrected a zombie thread this morning because I was intrigued by the title and clicked on one of the links.

Mods, that's definitely a feature that should be turned off if possible.

Not always old. Just last week, one evening I was reading a thread I started the previous day, and THAT thread, the one I was currently reading, was one of the suggestions on the bottom. But, yeah, in many cases a lot of them are zombie threads, some of which were LOCKED 10 years ago.

In general, I don't mind zombie threads. Since I'm still new here, I never saw them when they were originally active. Some are quite interesting.

As for "amigo," yes, it can be used in a condescending or derogatory manner.

Everybody be forewarned. RANT ALERT!

Ever since these $#@%&&$ "suggested" threads started appearing at the bottom of every page, we've been inundated by zombie threads. They're annoying and a waste of space. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression that Webmasters had a working knowledge of webpage design and function. As in, they could identify problem areas and work to correct them. It would be nice to see a little of that talent put to use.

I agree with you and what upsets me is many of them are locked threads from years ago!!! Really?????

Edited to add.....sorry Missy, didn't see your post.

Could be amusing if a bunch of political threads get resurrected from back before the rule on that took effect.
I don't understand why threads aren't automatically locked so many months or years after no new replies. Archiving threads after 2 years would prevent so many of these and leave a really, really long window for updates. Many planning threads end up containing outdated information after 2 years anyway. And from an SEO standpoint you want people finding your site based on the newest content, not 10 or 15 year old forum posts.

I agree. I think it's a poor reflection on the site when you go to the first page a forum and find such old information. I don't get it. Surely they could set parameters so those "suggested threads" linked at the bottom of the page only pull from some within a given timeframe.

Ad Blockers...worth their weight in gold. I've never seen an ad or a "suggested thread" on this site at any time. I can't recommend them enough and they are easily available on mobile units as well.

Yeah, I have one and don't miss the links at all. I just see them on my phone.

OOOOO A zombie thread.

8 out of 10 zombies said Amigo means I want to eat your brain. As the other two were getting a little bit too friendly for our comfort, we got out of there.
