Since everybody always hears complaints regarding WDW busses, I just wanted to say...

I'm going to move this to our transportation board for you.

Two out of three in our family love the bus system! My dh isn't really crazy about buses in general. We have had some terrific drivers though. Seems a lot of the transportation people are named Bob though. We had a boat pilot, and three bus drivers who all said their name was Bob. At least that's what they said to say if we had any problems to report to Disney;) Anyway, we're staying at the Polynesian this August and won't be using the bus system as much as in the past. But, I'll still be on the look-out for the dis boards very own purple panted treasure!! Yes, you Tyler!

That might have been me... lol... one of my lines is "Once again folks, my name is Tyler, and I sure hope you've enjoyed your ride with us tonight. However, if you didn't enjoy the ride, or my jokes, my name is Bob, and this has been the Walt Disney World Monorail System."

I'm hoping that everyone who has ridden on my bus has gotten one of my special rides... There are a few times when I haven't been in the mood to do my act... I do have my off nights...

Daxx - glad you enjoyed the ride. I'm guessing that was one of my "Let's share" Music/Movies first, and Sports last moves?

At any rate... I'm glad y'all appreciate our hard work... Most people really have no CLUE as to the sheer numbers of people we move daily. (It's an unreal number)

In regards to bus stops... Old Key West was moved down to the end at the MK as a temporary measure, while the North bus loop was repaved. That never happened, and so everything was re-assigned to coordinate better. All-Stars was moved down to the very end, not because they're value, but because of the amount of space needed for the park exit. (note: Stops will be changing slightly 2nd week of July...)

By the way... one more thing... the main reason why I prefer people taking the bus over driving... it's just one less crazy tourist driver out there to cut me off... lol

Cindy - if only SEPTA were half as nice as the disney bus system the world (okay maybe just the philly area) would be a better place.

I love disney transporation. It's part of being in the magic. Even when we would drive down we would still take the bus, boat or monorail. SOmetimes at FW where we stayed a lot when I was younger I would just ride the loop a couple times just for fun. And the drivers are so friendly and they give you all the good info about the parks and resorts. One year we had the same driver at least 3 or 4 different times and since we had told him our name the first day he always said hi to the bacon family. It was so great!!!! I'll be honest, sometimes the wait for a bus was a little longer than I would have liked but nothing is perfect and once or twice the a/c wasn't really working right but I'm still happy and can't wait to ride the bus, monorail and boat in Aug.

Here is another satisfied bus taker. I agree. I just love leaving the car behind. I drive every day to work and am a mini van bus driver for my kids each and every day. Part of my vacation is using disney transporation. I don't care how long it takes. It is part of the magic. I usually plan enough time and when I am there early, I'm even happier.

They are moving our resort to the furthest spot to walk to. LOL!
Drat, didn't do any good to switch resorts this year. =0)

Hey Tyler,
Which routes do you drive most often?

Hey Tyler,
Which routes do you drive most often?

If I rememeber correctly, after the holiday week at the MK, the North Loop will be OKW, AK Lodge, Port Orleans.
South Loop will be S/D, Y/B/BW, Coronado, Caribbean, Movies, Music, Sports.
Of course this is subject to change at any given moment.

As for what routes I drive... any and every. I never know till I get assigned it and do it.

Tyler, whether it was you as our driver or not, it really made my then 8 y/o dd's night. We were leaving Epcot, after being there the whole day and watching IllumiNations. Needless to say, we were a wee bit pooped. As we boarded our bus back to POR, the driver says "Hey folks. We have a red-head on board. Watch out. You know what they say about those red-heads!!! Don't get her going." Dd was mortified but it has been the one thing she always tells people is her best memory of WDW!! To think that maybe we were on your bus and didn't know any better. We'll know better this August!! Keep up the great work.

Alas, that wasn't me... just another one of our friendly drivers. (By the way... I myself am somewhat of a redhead :) ) At any rate, glad you had a good ride. :)

My first two WDW transoprt experiences were the Monorail (two trips to the Polynesian), and I was a little spoiled by that, I think. But now, I actually prefer the bus. Yes, I'm a convert, and proud.

I noted your comment about tourist drivers! I agree totally. It is amazing to me that they will be in a rental car and go from the far left to far right lane in about 15 feet. Of course that was in front of two Disney Busses and an SUV.

At least they are not as bad as the drivers around Orlando. I think everyone who gets a ticket at Disney thinks they have graduated to the roads of Orlando. How do you handle the mainiacs?

Disney Buses are the best.

Well... Since I drive the roads all day every day, I typically can predict where a tourist will blow a stop sign, or swerve and cut me off. As such, I make sure to prepare myself should they do something stupid.

I always speil to my guests "We are a high speed turbulent thrill ride subject to sharp turns and sudden stops, because there are lots of crazy tourists out there that have absolutly no clue what they're doing. As such, if you're standing, hold on for dear life. Those of you who are seated, you think you have it good right... think again. You're going to be the ones they fall on.

As I posted a while ago... Orange County is stepping up thier patrols... and they've been pulling guests over regularly the past few months... it's helped cut down the crazy speeding tourists a small bit...

I think the Disney Transportation system is unjustly slammed all the time on these boards. If you go to the resorts boards every other post is someone whining about 'waiting over an hour'. That always makes me suspicious because in over twenty trips to wdw I've never waited longer than 20 or so minutes (and that's unusual). I think a lot of people exagerate. I know sometimes it feels like a long wait, especially if you have kids asking every five seconds where the bus is.

I for one love the WDW Transportation. I would no sooner drive myself around WDW than I would drive in New York City, Las Vegas or LA.;)

I think people tend to forget just how big wdw is. Its the size of a small city. And just like using the public transportation in the city you have to be prepared by knowing where you are going, how you are getting there and realize that accidents and delays can happen.

And now the busses will be even more fun on my next trip, because I'll be looking for Tyler so I can thank him personally for all the helpful tips he posts on these boards :p

Please help.
We will be in Disney at the WL in Sept. for week during Night of Joy. We love the WDW transportation and are not planning on renting a car. One question, do you know or do you know how I might find out --- Will we be able to get from MK to WL after Night of Joy. Will the boat run and if not what will we be able to do? I believe I read on an earlier post that this was a problom for someone before. Just trying to anticipate any problems and deal with them ahead of time.
Thanks for any info you might have.

I fight Orlando traffic all year, to me this is a part of the package. Let someone else worry where to turn or get around the slow pokes.

I believe the boat should be running... however, in the case that it isn't... you can take the Monorail to the TTC, and hop the WL bus there.

Thanks so much for your help! I hope to catch you on one of our rides through the Kingdom!!

Thanks to all for helping me make up my mind whether to rent a car or not. I would be doing all the driving and not really looking forward to it, but not really looking forward to crowded busses either. You guys make it sound fun. I think that I will try it.
