Simpsons Update anyone?

I can easily see a wait time of well over 60 minutes right off the bat. Let's hope the ride capacity per hour is decent enough to deal with the crowds.
Since it's the BTTF "engine", then it's possible. If they have both domes running and all 3 levels running, BTTF/Simpsons can cycle over 1700 guests per hour.

I have to say, I rode Mission Space right after it opened. After I got off the ride I felt very weird - kind of woozy, kind of sick to my stomach - just strange. Ever since then I get motion sickness very easily. Things that never used to make me motion sick now do like reading in a moving car, take offs and landings on airplanes - things that never made me sick before. I swear it was that ride that "triggered" something.

Good description of Mission Space. Even the kids felt disoriented and wanted to return to the hotel.

The same thing happened to me. I was nauseous for most of the day and couldn't eat anything or go on any other rides. I know they have the Green Side option now but I don't want to take the risk.

I think just everyone has heard that but the worry is nothing official from Universal for those dates. Nothing on the website and nothing in the local media.

I read it on Orlando Sentinels website this week so the dates of May 15- 16 must be legit. The funny thing is Disney is having Toy Storys AP preview the weekend before on May 10-12 so it is going to be a busy 2 weekends in and around the parks.

Could you post the link to the story you saw? I'm looking at the website now and can't find anything on The Simpsons.

The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios in Orlando will have its grand opening May 15-16, Universal Orlando announced.

The brief annuncement promises a "Simpsons-style" grand opening" complete with celebrities, then promises more details later.

The Simpsons Ride (at left) is a rebuild of the old Back to the Future: The Ride building. Construction began about a year ago and looks just about finished.

There's no word whether there will be a soft opening to get the kinks out of the ride before the opening. Usually soft openings start a few weeks before the grand opening. As of Friday, a construction wall still surrounded the building and construction workers appeared to be still putting things together.

The construction, reportedly costing $30 million, will use the 80-foot-tall movie screens and the bases of the motion-simulation vehicles from Back to the Future: The Ride, to give visitors a virtual-reality trip through a cartoon theme park called "Krustyland" -- the domain of The Simpsons' TV clown.

The ride also is being built at Universal Studios Hollywood, and is set to open May 17 there (with a reported $40 million pricetag.) The studios there have given local reporters a couple of opportunities to tour the construction site and the reports are that the pre-show is the highly-themed Krustyland carnival. There are new ride vehicles, new scissor lifts, new motion platforms and new digital projectors.

Local 6 News' website has it also:

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios Florida will open to the public May 15, park officials announced.
The long-anticipated, simulator-based attraction takes riders on a trip through "Krustyland," a theme park named after Simpsons' character "Krusty the Clown."
The ride cost an estimated $40 million, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported. The attraction will replace "Back to the Future."

The Simpsons Ride was announced about a year ago.
"They've probably been working on this ride for longer than we know about," said Jerry Aldrich, president of Orlando-based Amusement Industry Consulting. "Any new ride gives you something to advertise about, and 'The Simpsons' is a name everybody understands and knows."
The ride will open at Universal Studios Hollywood in California May 17.

Here you go. it is actually in a blog on the Sentinels site. i actually thought it was a story but it should still be legit.

It will be a few down from the top.
Thanks...I just found it!

This has really been irritating. Universal dropped the ball on this opening and they handled the opening of ROTM so well. They had an after hours opening for passholders only but we don't even know if an AP preview or soft opening is going to happen for The Simpsons.

I stopped riding BTTF a few years ago because the headaches I experienced afterward. I'm glad it's gone! :snooty:

Yeah...I was thinking of doing the AP preview for Toy Story Mania that Sunday IF Universal doesn't have an AP preview of The Simpsons.

Will The Simpsons have express/FOTL access right away? I am staying at HRH at the end of May and IF it is open, it would be nice to get on that way... so I don't have to rush over right after opening and hope not to wait forever...

Getting back to the "no express" when it first opens, I think that's terrible!!!! I don't have the patience to wait in line for an hour, but that's just me !

Ya we're hoping to hit the Toy Story Mania AP preview as well when we're down :cool1:
Cool...I'm planning on going that Sunday...I think it's May 10th.

don't forget to post a link to your review;)
Don't worry...I won't. :thumbsup2

I hear ya Mike...I certainly hope Universal WILL have an AP preview at some point but it doesn't look like it at the moment. Getting there EARLY will be key.

Not that that's any guarantee of quick entry either. I remember an an AP preview night for ROTM where we were in line for a good 90 minutes. :scared1: Of course, it was made bearable because I was in line with a bunch of people from this board. ;)
