What does it mean by 'soft' openings??? We aren't AP holders or anything special, so does that mean we will miss out???

Soft openings are test runs that are not scheduled. There's a chance you could ride it when you're there but nothing is guaranteed. You would have to be in the right place at the right time.

::yes:: ::yes::

Woohoo! The 15th is our first day at the park!
Do you think they'll have FOTL access right away?

Well, that really stinks. I planned my whole trip around wanting to be there when the ride opened. Now it looks like I won't even get to ride it at all :confused3 We will be there May 3-10 and until i just read this post I thought it would be open wayyy before that. Is there any hope for me to get on it at all???:worship:

I would imagine so but don't expect everything to run like clockwork right away.

There MAY be some soft openings that week but you never know...it's really hit or miss.

Just letting you all know, if the ride does get soft openings, there will be no Express access. It's just a technical rehearsal, so the ride could open for 1 hour, then close for the rest of the day.

i totally lucked out one year and got to do a soft opening for Rockin Roller Coaster. Made my step-mom go on TOT (she doesn't like drop rides), turned the corner and saw a big sign saying they were doing test runs and to come try it out. we felt really cool......and still have the pic from it at my dad's house.

Of course it is opening May 15th....we come home on the 12th. Hopefully it will be operational when we're there!

That and it is supposed to have wildly long lines after opening and they want it to be "fair" and easy to "shoot" ppl through building
I can easily see a wait time of well over 60 minutes right off the bat. Let's hope the ride capacity per hour is decent enough to deal with the crowds.

How accurate are those dates? I haven't seen them announced anywhere else or on any other website, including the Universal Website. Also, how crowded do you think the park will be on the grand opening date?

No one knows for sure. You're right...nothing official has come from Universal. As far as the crowds go, I can guarantee one thing: If you don't do it FIRST thing, you'll end up waiting for hours.

I didn't take the time to read through all 10 pages on this thread, so I'm sorry if this info has been posted. We were just there last week, and got to have a family picture taken with the Simpsons characters -- too cute! I asked the employee when it was supposed to open. He said that they're hoping to open it in May, but nobody was making any promises. As you have probably seen from the pictures, the building that they have up right now looks great!

:sad1: Going in exactly 2 weeks.I'll have to buy annual pass for the fam. too ride it.Unfort we only go 2times ayear(it keeps it fresh),but have too ggo for this..

Our other US vac. is always HHN!!!!!
