Simple Thing a Cast Member Did...

I know I'm a little late to the party, but this post just made me well up something fierce, and I'm generally a pretty stoic gentleman. Thanks for sharing. :)

Oh, this story killed me too
I witnessed a great one too just last week. We were at Epcot, in the character pavillion. We all got in line to meet Pooh Bear, my favorite!
Well, in front of us in line, was this beautiful girl in a wheelchair. Her Dad
pushed the wheelchair up, she got up and walked, very shakily to meet her Pooh Bear, he posed for several pictures, walked her back to her wheelchair, helped her in and then, very sweetly, put is nose to hers for a moment while she hugged him one last time. I was a mess
But it was a beautiful sight to see :wizard:

My niece was picked to be the princess at the Beauty and the Beast show. She got a plush rose.

She wore her Tiana dress that I made her with Neveen as a frog on the front to see Tiana at the meet and greet. When we watched the 3:00 parade Tiana saw us and pointed the dress out to Neveen. He pointed at himself and then at my niece.

My niece woke up early one morning, on a day we were going to the MK. I thought why not try and get picked to be family of the day. I thought we had a good shot since she had me awake at 5:15am. She was super excited to be at MK and was in a great mood for having woken up so early. We were about the 2nd or 3rd family there but we were not chosen. The CM that did pick the family of the day waited and picked a family of 4 that arrived a while after us. A CM came by and gave her a mini ziplock bag of Mickey Head confetti-I didn't see him give anyone else one.

Our first trip last year was just slap full of moments but the morning of our last day was special and I really didn't realize it until I got home
It was COLD (especially for FL) last December and we decided to go to MK our last day. Well we practically had the park to ourselves and we wandered over to the Rapunzel meet and greet not really knowing much about it. There were already kids in the roped off area so I assumed that was all the kids that were allowed so we went to leave. As we were walking away another patron stopped us and said to wait because once the initial dance coloring activity was done they would let more kids in (All of you understand how good this advice was.).So we were first in line and we strike up a conversation with the CM at the rope. He asks where wen were from and if we only have one child we answer yes and that today was our last day and how much fun we have had. He calls another CM over and all of a sudden another coloring book appears and the just so happen to have one more spot. So they let my DD4 in but she gets a case of the antsy pants because the concept of waiting still hasn't caught her realm of understanding yet. So I am trying to be good dad and explain to her what's up that Rapunzel and Flynn were coming in a minute and just trust me it will be worth the wait. Well she is almost at full meltdown and all of a sudden the Photopass guy comes over and kneels down beside me to talk to her. I proceed to back off and let him talk to her one on one and he just talks a smile out of her. Right after he talks to her Rapunzel comes out and makes a bee line to my DD and dances with her the entire time. It was a really cool moment and not one but 3 CM made it happen, in all honesty I didn't realize how lucky my DD was to have that moment until I came home and read DIS and saw how long most people waited for the Tangled meet and greet.

My son has Autism and was having a difficult time with the crowds and noise. I stopped in to see about a GAC card and the CM said "This card is going to help make wonderful memories" and he was so right! Our trip was amazing and my son asks to go to Disney every morning. I am so thankful for that!! We are going again in June:)

From our 2007 trip...

The bus was very speedy on our Blizzard Beach day and we were there very early. CM comes up and talks to one group. Asks if they have any kids. Nope. Comes over and starts talking to us. Ends up asking my two older kids (13 and 11 back then) if they could help him out. Sure, they say. Takes us through the entry gate and he says he needs them to "test" Summit Plummit. Yeah... no way. My little 7 year old steps and says she'll help him out (thank heavens because I could just see the magic slipping through my fingers). She went down just as the park opened... in the half hour before park opening, we were given a private area (before they had cabanas), towels, a locker, a refillable mug... and our own Photopass photographer. She took photos of us as a family, then sent my youngest and my dh up the chair lift. At the top, another Photopass photographer was waiting. Took pictures of dd and dh looking out over an empty park. The other stayed at the bottom and took photos of them both coming down (the ones of my dh are so fun... he was so excited to go down it). DD got a medal to wear all day and all of the CMs knew what it meant and gave her special attention. A truly magical memory.

At AK, we were waiting for the opening show. A CM asked if we were going to ride the Safaris, and I said, "Not until later." Stupid, stupid.... as I watched a family get escorted for their own private safari. So a few minutes later when another asked the same question, I said, "You betcha." My kids got to hold the rope that led the crowd back to the Safaris and we were escorted right onto the first "real" safari of the day. The CM took a picture of us sitting alone in the safari vehicle (although others joined us after the photo).

Two days before we wanted to eat there, I managed to get an ADR for the castle breakfast at 8 am. We had ended up with an extra table credit and needed a two credit meal and I was so shocked to not only get Cindy's but to get an 8 am. We skipped down to the castle and the CM who checked us in asked my younger dd if she's like to be Princess of the Day. Yes, she would. She got some special attention and we had a special table.

As you may have noticed... these were all because we were super early to the parks. We're just early people, which really works to our advantage at Disney. Our kids are much older now but I'm hoping for another magical trip!

I have really enjoyed this thread, although I am crying and smiling all at once! I definitely wanted to add my favorite extra-magical moments.

My hubby and I went to WDW for our honeymoon in 09...We wore our Just Married pins and received lots of congratulations and well wishes. When we got lunch one day in Pinnochio Village Haus, one young CM stopped to chat with us, then got a microphone and announced to everyone in the restaurant that we were newlyweds!

When we went back last fall, I got to celebrate my 25th birthday! When leaving our first day in the parks at Epcot, we stopped by guest services to pick up a birthday button. When she asked why we weren't staying for IllumiNations, I explained that we would be back later in the week. She told us it was her favorite and that we shouldn't miss it, and arranged for us to view the show from a special seating area later in the week. She also spent a while decorating my birthday button. She was really sweet and really made an impression on us!

That week when we returned to Epcot, we ate at Les Chefs de France. When we arrived, Remy was making the rounds on his cart, and the "Maitre D" pushing him around the restuarant stopped at our table and sang Happy Birthday to me in French, with Remy chiming in with squeaks! It was so much fun and really made my trip!

Can't wait to go back in January- as we all know from reading these posts and our own experiences the magic moments don't even have to happen to you, just witnessing them is so special! Love it! Thanks everybody for sharing- keep 'em coming!

We took my now 11yr old ds to Disney for his 4th birthday. First thing we did when we arrived at the MK was get his hair cut. As he was sitting there getting his hair cut, out came the Dan Dappers (barbershop quartet). They found out it was ds's birthday and surrounded him to sing Happy Birthday while he was sitting in the chair, getting his hair cut. Then they got a HUGE pair of scissors (prop) and pretended to cut his hair with them. I have it all on video and it makes me tear up watching how special the moment was!

Not really a big deal, but it made my day....

Last week we went to DTD to pick out Mr. Potato Head parts. It was our last day in Disney and our last activity before we packed up to go home. We already had a Mr. Potato Head, so I was just buying the parts. I didn't realize that I needed to pick up the special hands so Mr. PH could hold all of the cool Disney items. When we got back to our condo and tried to play with him, I realized it wouldn't work.

DH when back to Once Upon a Toy and the CM just handed him two arms. We didn't have to pay extra or trade any pieces. I was so happy!

On our first trip to Disney World, my son was 6 years old. He's always been what I call a "Chunky Monkey" and I knew the walking would negatively impact his enjoyment of the parks.

So, I decided that a stroller would be the way to go. Because of his size, I knew that a double stroller would be more comfortable for him.

This worked out great until we got to HS. The double strollers were designed so that one child couldn't sit in it. We had already paid for a double stroller at Epcot. I asked a CM if we could get a single instead and I discreetly explained why the double stroller wouldn't work for us at HS.

The CM told me to wait and returned with an "older model" double stroller that wasn't necessarily designed for two kids.

My son hopped in and we went on to have a wonderful day!!!

It was so kind for that CM to take the extra time to make my son more comfortable..

Well, I"m not sure if this counts as something nice a CM did.. but if the characters are considered CMs, then this one is a doozy. I know this is long, but I think it's worth it.

My first (and only trip as a child) to Disney World was when I was 11 years old. (I'm 44 now..so this was long ago). I had a wonderful time, but being on overly sensitive child, something bothered me as I lay in bed after a day in the Magic Kingdom.

I remembered seeing Smee in the parade that day and I remember that Captain Hook was being mean to him in some way. It was all a part of the act of their characters, but Smee seems so innocent holding his little balloon and being bullied by Captain Hook..and he didn't even mind. I just felt so sorry for him. As a result, I always had a soft place in my heart for Smee.

Fast Forward nearly 30 years (!) to my first trip with my 6 year old son..right after my messy divorce. I was sharing the story of my "soft spot" for Smee with my family before we arrived and they all laughed because I am such a "softie" and little stuff like that gets to me.

That night, we were watching the night time parade...

Then, I saw him.. It was Smee!!

I screamed out his name and was thrilled to see him.

Smee stopped right in front of me as the rest of the parade went by. He looked at me and pointed his right at me. At that moment, his entire suited LIT UP!!!

The little girl inside of me knew that Smee was ok..and the newly divorced single mother inside of me know that I was going to be ok too.

I started to cry happy tears and I looked over and a couple of members of my family had teared up as well.

It was such a magical moment.

I love them all ~ too many to comment on.

I forgot about this one from our July trip. The shop outside of HM as a CM who works there who is deaf (both her and her boyfriend/husband) ~ she couldn't really communicate with my girls but gave them each a teeny tiny little hand made envelope sealed closed with a tiny character sticker. Inside each envelope was a small stash of the metallic Mickey head confetti. The girls had been picking them up off the ground making little stashes of them so it meant a lot to them!

Yes, I've met them and they are really sweet. I love talking with them and look for them each time I go. It is so nice to have a conversation where I don't need to lip read. :)

We were in WDW last month and we were at Typhoon Lagoon one day. My daughter got hurt in the wave pool. When the 6 foot wave knocked her over and she scraped her back on the bottom of the pool. We took her to first aid and they put some stuff on it and we decided to have lunch at Leaning Plams to take a break since my daughter was REALLY upset. While we are eating lunch, my daughter is crying because her back is so sore and she said that it has ruined her day. So my mom took her to the bathroom to let her calm down and wash the tears off. There was a CM in the bathroom who asked what was wrong so my mom and daughter told her. She was sympathetic and everything. So then they came back and sat down with me to finish eating and the next thing we know..one of the food CMs comes over with this sand bucket FULL of an ice cream sundae. He said to us at the table, "Does anyone here like ice cream?" my daughter started saying "Me! Me! Me!" My daughter was so happy..she said that was one of the best days from the vacation for her. She said that sundae made everything better and she was able to enjoy more stuff to do at Typhoon Lagoon that day. I am pretty sure the CM in the bathroom had something to do with it! There is nothing like Disney World! :goodvibes

My DD lost a Vinylmation on Space Ranger Spin and we went to MK Guest Services to see if anyone had turned it in (knowing it hadn't). The CM -- who was from our home state of KY -- wrote DD a voucher to go pick out a new one in the mercantile. It totally made her trip.

last wednesday at Epcot, we were leaving at closing, and I somehow got separated from the rest of my party. I was tired, I was cranky, and didn't want to have to go find them only to get yelled at for "wandering off again"....

so I'm going through the turnstile off in my own little world and all of a sudden I hear "you look awfully sad for someone who just left one of the happiest places on earth, come here i'll give you a hug".... I look up and the CM at the turnstile had his arms wide open and gave me a huge hug.

I was SUPER shocked because I didn't realize I looked as miserable as I felt. But I smiled the entire ride home because he stopped to give me a huge hug just because I looked sad.... my mom was so upset she missed it because the family joke is that we aren't huggers and wanted a picture.

:cloud9: Nice story! I love your sig's picture!

Last month at DHS I went to the drawing classes with the animators for the first time. Ever since I watched Tangled I decided my dream is to be a 3D modeler at Walt Disney Animation Studios, and this year I started studying for that. After finishing my drawing of Woody, I went to the artist to ask for a eraser. He got one for me and started talking to me about my dream and giving me tips of what I should study and how to get there! I also told him about my fascination with Tangled, and he told me to come back at 4:30 because an artist that could draw Rapunzel would be there.
I came back, he did Rapunzel and gave me his drawing! I'll always treasure it, as it makes me feel a little closer to my dream! :lovestruc
I also spent most of my day at the drawing classes! Also, when I was a little late for the last one and it was full, the same artist told me to wait there and got an extra spot for me!

Here's another.. wasn't pixie dust for me, but for the guest in front of me.. DD and I were in line "first" to meet Snow White in Germany, following her short break. While she was on break, a woman with a special needs child came up and got in line behind us. We were all chatting with the cast member, and she pulled the mom aside for a min. When they returned, the cast member asked if I minded if they got in front of me. Of course it wasn't an issue..but man do I wish I would have just left the line and come back later. It turns out that the girl was very seriously ill, this was her make a wish trip, and all the little girl wanted to do was meet snow white. When Snow White returned from her break, the CM quickly approached her, whispered in her ear..and then the magic.. Snow White started twirling around in her skirt saying she had just heard about her friend coming to visit her, and called the girl by name. The little girls eyes lit up..Snow white took the wheel chair and started walking around the area with her, took her to the "wishing well" to make a wish, and the little girl was just smiling from ear to ear. I was now sobbing at this point. Not sniffling..full fledge sobbing.. I had to turn away to the back of the line, and there was not a dry eye to be found. DD kept asking why everyone was crying, and I couldn't even get the words out of my mouth.

When people ask me why I go back to Disney so often, I can't help but say "why wouldn't I".:cloud9:

Ok, you got me on that one..sitting here crying all over my laptop. Disney is magical isn't it?!

We were there for our last day on 10/28 and we were at MK with reservations for Boma at 5:00. We knew we were not going to make it, even though I really wanted to try it because DD was having so much fun at MK. So, I went to guest services to cancel and he said, "are you sure, it's a REALLY good restaurant." I said we wouldn't make it. He said let me check for you. He let's out a 'Holy Cow' and got us in to 'Ohana at 5:30 at a window front table. He said that NEVER happens. It was awesome!
