Simple Thing a Cast Member Did...

Love this thread and love the Disney CM'S!
My birthday was scrapped this summer due to hurricane Irene, we were supposed to go to the beach but the beach was closed :guilty:
I was pretty bummed but my family had a great idea of celebrating my b~day during our Disney vacation
So I wore my birthday pin, we were just there oct 1st thru the 6th, then we went to Universal
But the Disney cm's rock!
I got a birthday phone call from Goofy at Hollywood Studios
While at Pecos Bills in MK, the girls there were fantastic! I got a birthday announcement, a big "yeee haaa" and free chocolate cake for the entire family!
Also, at Hollywood Studios, my DS11 walked up to ride Rock N Rollercoaster, the line was huge and fastpasses were sold out, I told the cm there it was my son's first upside down coaster (it was ), she looked at my pin, and said "And your birthday!" Reached in her pocket and gave us 2 fastpasses, we were elated!
Even at our resort (All Star Sports) which we loved, a cm stopped, pulled out a harmonica and sang and played me Happy Birthday
Also was sung to at Turtle Talk with Crush :goodvibes
The Disney CM's totally made my Birthday Special :wizard:
Even if it was 2 months later :)

Such awesome stories! The small things can matter the most.

My dtr went to Disney World when she was 18, she had always loved Tigger and we had lunch at Crystal Palace. She told Tigger that he had always been her favorite, he pointed to his cheek and she kissed him. Tigger made a big deal of the kiss and then proceeded to faint from the kiss, everyone around was clapping. My dtr was elated and still talks about it. She felt like a little girl again :) wonderful interaction with 3 adults.

we are returning to the world now 12 years later with our granddaughters and we can hardly wait. It really is the happiest place on earth for all ages.

Our first family trip was in March 2004, and our arrival day we planned on going to TL. We stayed at the CBR and a very nice CM took us and our bags to our room. On the way there we had a very nice talk about our first family trip. When he found out that we were going to TL, he told us that he would go and get us more of the big towls. We stayed at TL as long as we could, but since it was 60F we couldn't stay long. Our youngest DS was shaking so badly that we had to carry him. With the big towels, we were able to wrap him up and get him warm.

The best CM ever...my dd's heart belongs to him. :lovestruc

Took those over the weekend on our last trip. He must have waved to her 50 times from the parades we watched, said "hello" to her by name, danced with her like she was the only person there, gave her many silly poses for her camera (most that she missed because she was so awestruck, lol) and gave her a huge hug.

Of course she first met him when he was a face character. But it doesn't matter where Disney puts him now, he remains her #1 after 3 trips spanning the past year. Ahh the pressure I am going to feel on all of our future trips, lol.

I came down with a bad case of the flu on the second day of my vacation. The housekeeper came in to clean and I couldn't even move out of the bed to let her clean. About an hour later there was a knock at the door. It took everything I had to open the door, but there stood the housekeeper with hot soup, 2 cans of sprite with a glass of ice and a shopping bag filled with magazines and a deck of playing cards. There was also a get well card from Mickey!

Wow! That was sooo thoughtful. I love it. Thanks for sharing.:littleangel:

Oh man... I'm tearing up just reading these. I can't wait until our January trip :)

let me see... there were SO many magical moments for us this last trip in September.

First and foremost was Joe, the concierge at Bay Lake Tower. He was great. He made a big deal over DD and about it being her birthday and he started sticking stickers all over her and then grabbed the roll and pulled as hard as he could and ripped off a 10 foot strip of stickers and everyone knows the greatest thing to 4 year olds is STICKERS!!!! haha. he chatted with us for a good 10 minutes and we got a really great photo op of him and DD. he said they were "Beauty and the Beast" haha

Another time we were walking down Mainstreet USA and a photopass photographer came up and just started snapping pictures of DD and had us get in the shots and just a totally impromptu photoshoot. it was really fun and the photos she took turned out fantastic. When she was done she said "Thanks for indulging me with that spontaneous photoshoot" lol no ma'am thank YOU... that was fun and we got some great photos from it.

Belle... we met her the first day at Magic kingdom and the next day we were having a princess lunch at Akershus in Epcot. Wouldn't you know it... same Belle. the best part was she remembered us. I actually didnt' realize it was the same one until she said "Oh princess didn't we meet yesterday at Magic Kingdom? it's so nice to see you again". DD was THRILLED that Belle remembered their meeting the previous day. I went back and looked at the photos and sure enough... it is the same Belle :)

Edwin. Another photopass photographer at DHS. We were milling around waiting for Minnie to come out at 10:30. we missed her first meeting that day and we were NOT going to miss the next one. DD had been wanting to see Minnie the whole trip and this minnie had on her pink dress (DD prefers minnie in pink lol and it just so happened their dresses matched lol). so while we were waiting we got our family photo done in front of the hat and a magic shot done. I asked if he knew where minnie was going to be meeting (same spot as before?) and he told us where to stand and said that he was actually minnies photographer at 10:30. 10:30 came and we were the second in line. Edwin was READY!!!! he just went crazy snapping pictures. I bet we have a good 25 pictures just from that meeting. he knew DD was super excited about meeting Minnie and he really took special interest in our little family and gave us as many digital memories as he could. In the video of took of the minnie meeting you can hear him say "Oh my gosh she's SO excited". A couple hours later we passed him again on our way out and he stopped to tell us to have a great day and thanked DD for making his day. It was great :)

There are more lol but I'll stop there for now before I write a novel

We had an absolutely amazing CM as our Mousekeeper at Coronado Springs on this past trip (October 2011).

We had adjoining rooms, both of which were of course spotless. The pixie dust made the difference, though. Examples:

Baby's plush goofy arranged on the bed under a blanket, as if taking a nap.

Little boys' rubber snakes coiled on the foot of the bed.

Towel animals - a bird and a basket (DS4 loved to put the birdie in the basket). Later in the trip, a puppy. Birdie got lost, we left a note for mousekeeping about it, and she either replaced it or found it in the fourth dimension.

Different window displays every single night - toys and ear hats arranged creatively in the windows like in a New York department store at Christmas.

Stuffed animals tied up in the window shears to make them float above the other toys.

DD15's lightup Halloween hair toy played on DS2's stuffed Mickey, as if Mickey were in costume.

Two tiered towel birthday cake placed in the room one night in honor of DS2's birthday.

Huge balloon brought to our room one night.

All in all, we always had fun little surprises waiting for us after long days in the park. We are commending Mary Ann from Syracuse, New York, to guest services.

What a heart warming thread. I have one to share...

On our very first trip our oldest dd was afraid to ride POTC. Well the CM took her aside and gave her one of those plastic jewels and told her it was magical and that as long as she held on to the jewel she would not be afraid. She rode holding her jewel and she loved the ride!! POTC is still. one her favourite rides and she still remembers the CM's kindness.:goodvibes

The "magic" I listed was having someone get DD and I some napkins in one thread and watching the child in front of us have an amazing interaction with snow-white in another. Sometimes the magic is really really small..like a napkin, yet means the world, and sometimes watching someone else receive the magic is even more rewarding then anything that could have been done for you.

Be on the lookout for the magic--because even if it doesn't happen to you, it is happening all around you. Remember-Disney is a huge, busy place. Not everyone will get the dust...but I hope you get yours ;)

I know how you feel. I have been about 13 times and my kids have been around 9 times. This last time we went for my youngest dd's 16th birthday. She got a TON of CM's telling her "Happy Birthday" and it really made her trip! Just that little bit!

On my oldest dd's first trip, we were waiting for Snow White:love:...at that point she had an area up on a little hillside to make daily appearances. We had gotten there early because Snow White is my fav princess, and we wanted to be first in line. We saw her coming and started gathering up our stuff when this family comes out of no where (I think they may have moon-lighted as undercover security.;)) and cuts in front of us. They proceed to rush right up to her and get hugs and autographs for their daughter. I was livid, but I couldn't say anything because...well...there was a princess there. It just wasn't proper. Anyway, she graciously sent them on their way then turns to us and asks if our little princess would like to walk with her to her garden (where the meet and greet area was). She takes my dd's hand and walks up the path talking to her the whole way. I got some great pics of the two of them walking away.

From our last trip this Sept. Myself and my DD5 were sitting out in front of the mainstreet bakery and my DD was crying(we were not getting to the buzz ride fast enough). The young lady standing at the door came over and asked if she could talk to my DD. I said of course and she proceeded to chat with her about something I couldn't hear. It started to calm my DD down then a photopass photog came over and whispered something in the CM ear. She told me to stay there and not leave. When she came back out (by this time my DW and DD8 had returned) she presented the girls with a 12inch Mickey cookie. My girls were beside themselves with excitment. She told my DD5 that Mickey didn't like to see people cry in his home. It made my daugters day. The whole time the photographer was snapping pics and we got some great shots. It is almost a month since we got home and they still talk about that cookie. It is certainly something I will never forget.

Another special thing that happened. My DD5 got to welcome everyone to the Little Mermaid show over the microphone at DHS before they let everyone in. Just a little thing but the CM announced her name and where she was from and everyone applauded when she was done. She was so excited.

KEEP THE MAGIC GOING!!!!!

Such great stories! CMs are wonderful!!! I have a story to share. On our last trip to WDW in Oct 2008, Our Honeymoon, (going through withdrawal since I haven't been in a while! HA!) we had great pixie dust everywhere we went. Mostly just congratulations on our wedding, etc. But we loved it! This one day, at DHS, we were on our way to Toy Story. When we got there the wait time was about 120 mins & the fastpasses were sold out. Bummer! :sad1: So we just continued walking. Well, I guess it showed on our faces how disappointed we were because all of a sudden a custodial CM approached us, told us to walk up ahead & wait for her to come back. :confused3 So we did. She then comes back to us, gives us two fastpasses & tells us to enjoy our day! pixiedust: Wow! This was just great for us!!! Couldn't believe it!!! CMs are one of the main reasons I keep coming back!!!!

A couple of years ago, my DBF and I had a really late ADR at Boma. We came out of AKL and were wondering what the quickest way back to our resort (All Star Sports) was. We went to hop onto a bus that said Hollywood Studios but we must've kinda heisitated or looked unsure when we got on because the bus driver asked where we were going. We said we were trying to get back to ASSp, and since no one else got on the bus, he drove us all the way back to our resort instead of to Hollywood Studios!!
We asked if we could put in a good word for him but he said no because he wasn't supposed to do that, but we were so soooo grateful and I'll never forget his kindness.

On our first trip, our son was 5, and our twins were about to turn 4. We went to ride the Tomorrowland Speedway. My girls and I were going to ride in front of my husband and DS.

When we went to get in our car, my girls started to get upset, because they knew only one of them would get the steering wheel.

A very kind CM came up to our car and said that one could drive first, and then she would let us go around again so the other could drive. So, so, kind. So, the girls loaded in, and we were off!

Except that we were really doing the Speedway for my son, who is on the autism spectrum. I knew he would be devastated if the girls and I got to go around again and he had to go back in line.

Luckily, when we pulled up, the CM was right there, she saw my DH and Son behind us (we were all wearing matching shirts). And she asked, "Are you with them?" and when my husband told her yes, she said they could go around again, too. :lovestruc It was a very magical moment.

Me and my sister (12) were in line to meet Daisy at MK when a CM came over to us and was looking at my sisters pins. She then showed my sister her pins and asked which one she liked and if she wanted to trade. My sister said she didn't want to trade any of her pins. The CM was fine with this and asked her again which one she liked best. My sister pointed to the Princess Aurora pin and to our surprise the CM took it off and gave it to her! Very kind CM :)

I'd say when the Fairy Godmother gave then DD4 some "fairy dust" glitter (you know, the Mickey head kind) to make her hurt toe feel better. She had the toe nail ripped a bit just before heading to dinner so she was still crying a bit. Magically, her toe suddenly felt better.

And she still remembers it to this day and she's now 11. Gotta love Cast Members!

We got so much pixie dust while on our honeymoon last month! Some of the really nice things from CMs:

-free popcorn at Fantasmic
-free frozen lemonade from a stand in HS
-When we went on Test Track the man at the FP line gave us extra FPs
-in the MK a CM came up to us and declared us prince and princess of the day and gave us stickers ;)
-we had gotten FPs for Toy Story Mania and when we got up to the front to hand them in, the CM told us we could keep them! So we got to go on again :)
-we put our KTTW cards into the FP machine at Space Mountain and the CM was standing behind the machine, and he fiddled back there and somehow made 2 extra FPs come out!

This was one of my favorite moments:
-We were walking by the Tomorrowland Speedway and a CM ran out to us and asked us if we wanted to go to the front of the line (it was only a 10 minute wait and we weren't planning on riding, but what the heck?". So we went and when we got up there we said: "there's one catch. You have to drive around with this sign on the back of your car." It was a Just Married sign. That's not a catch, it's a bonus! He was really nice and offered to take pictures and everything.

We also got some great character interaction. We waited in line to meet Buzz and when he saw our bride/groom ears, he grabbed my arm and pulled me off to the side. He then flipped the veil in front of my face and proceeded to "reenact" our wedding! Buzz walked me down the aisle and then he also officiated the ceremony! Later we met Buzz and Woody in HS and Woody was really into posing with us, setting us up and taking so many fun pictures!

The photopass people were great too with setting up some awesome shots that we will treasure forever!

Love the stories and the pictures, I would have been super excited to have the "Just Married" sign, what a great photo to cherish!

Here's another.. wasn't pixie dust for me, but for the guest in front of me.. DD and I were in line "first" to meet Snow White in Germany, following her short break. While she was on break, a woman with a special needs child came up and got in line behind us. We were all chatting with the cast member, and she pulled the mom aside for a min. When they returned, the cast member asked if I minded if they got in front of me. Of course it wasn't an issue..but man do I wish I would have just left the line and come back later. It turns out that the girl was very seriously ill, this was her make a wish trip, and all the little girl wanted to do was meet snow white. When Snow White returned from her break, the CM quickly approached her, whispered in her ear..and then the magic.. Snow White started twirling around in her skirt saying she had just heard about her friend coming to visit her, and called the girl by name. The little girls eyes lit up..Snow white took the wheel chair and started walking around the area with her, took her to the "wishing well" to make a wish, and the little girl was just smiling from ear to ear. I was now sobbing at this point. Not sniffling..full fledge sobbing.. I had to turn away to the back of the line, and there was not a dry eye to be found. DD kept asking why everyone was crying, and I couldn't even get the words out of my mouth.

When people ask me why I go back to Disney so often, I can't help but say "why wouldn't I".:cloud9:

I know I'm a little late to the party, but this post just made me well up something fierce, and I'm generally a pretty stoic gentleman. Thanks for sharing. :)
