Simba's Summer (July) 2015 W.I.S.H. Weight Loss Challenge!! Any and All welcome to join!!

So....Smores Oreos aren't on the plan are they? (forehead smack). Grrr - so irritated with myself. Oh well. I'm going on a 2nd walk tonight w the kids to get them ready for walking at Disney so I'll burn a few extra calories.

Sorry I am late. As of yesterday I have walked 40 for this month. That makes 40% of my goal!!

I am also down 2 pounds for this month. I am hoping that when the kids go back to school it will be easier.

QOTD for Friday. I love fresh fruit and veggies. Yummy! Sometimes I freeze my fruit. Like grapes, blueberries, and bananas. So yummy on a hot day.

I'm late but I'm in! I had good success in June with the thread and somehow fell off the wagon huge the 1st 10 days of July and need to get back moving in the right direction.

I'd like to lose 6 pounds by July 31st

HI all! Just a pop on to say I haven't fallen off the planet..... just fallen into a SUPER BUSY bunch of days! This working in the summer business kind of stinks! I haven't worked (other than my WW meeting) in the summer since the year I had my DD.... and she turns 20 in two weeks! Between working both jobs, yard work, housework, and TRYING to take time to visit DD when she is here, I haven't taken a moment to pop in here. Mostly because I feel rude just saying HELLO and then disappearing! I want to be able to read and reply and chat and answer the QOTD, etc! But since I don't have time for that today..... or tomorrow..... or Tuesday, this HELLO posting will have to do!!

Hoping you all are well..... rededicating myself to staying SOLIDLY OP even on the weekends, etc, and walking whenever possible (did NOT hit my goal last week unless I count the walking I did at work :( ). Hoping to knock the pounds I've gained since February to the curb BEFORE the end of summer vacation!

TTY soon I hope!......................P

Checking in - late again!! Lost 3.4 pounds so far this month (68% of monthly goal!!) - only 1.6 pounds to go to meet my monthly goal! And only about 20 to go to my goal weight!

As an added motivation, I've put in some bets on DietBet - money is a real motivator for me and I am SUPER competitive. Like, crazy town level competitive. So I think that will keep me from eating more when even the WW points can't keep me in check. I've put in 3 competitions to lose 4% of my body weight in the next month (only about 6 lbs, avg. 1.5 lbs/week - so still a healthy loss rate and completely doable) and 1 competition to lose 10% of my body weight in 6 months (about 16 pounds total - puts me very close to my goal weight and will force me to pick up my exercise routine to meet the goal). And I've decided any money I win from the losing pot plus what I win back of my own will go toward new clothes after I get to goal weight! Double win!!:banana:

For now, here is your QOTD for Friday:

What is your favorite healthy snack (or snacks)?

I love fresh fruit! Especially in-season from local farmers - we have great locations here for strawberries, blueberries, apples, peaches, watermelons, and cantaloupes. I will argue to the death that no melons can beat Missouri sandhill melons!!

And fresh from the garden tomatoes! I love them sliced with a little salt and pepper. Of course, I also really, really like them breaded, fried, and green - that's a problem ::yes:: Nom nom nom!

What's your feedback on DietBets??? I've looked into it before but haven't taken the plunge yet!

I have to say sorry once again for missing another QOTD. The weekend has been very busy as I had to catch up with some stuff from work. Hopefully after Monday things will get better and I can spend some more time here! I will update your results tomorrow, so you still have time to submit!

@JacknSally
Well, I don't really have much yet - this is the first time I've tried it myself. My SIL has done it in a private group with coworkers and was very, very pleased. She made about $25 on a $35 bet with only 4 people in the game. She's very similar to me in that money can be a big motivator and is quite competitive. I've figured out in the past that I have to have some kind of tangible accountability to reduce my food intake to a level where I can lose weight, and just writing it in a book isn't going to cut it. I'm a big fan of tables, graphs, etc - probably the scientist in me! And I also have to be able to have some junky-type foods here and there to keep from losing control and binging. That's part of why weight watchers works well for me.
With the money component, DietBet is providing me with even more of this. I did have to do bets of $25+ (including one high stakes) to ensure my discipline though. For $10, I'm probably going to eat those candy bars, LOL!

Some things I do like:
- Even if everyone loses their weight, I get my entire bet back. So I've lost weight and it cost nothing.
- There are lots of competitions starting daily, all at different price points and with varying numbers of participants, so you can definitely find one that fits your needs/risk level
- The weight loss goals are realistic, depending on where you are starting. I don't care how much I might win, if I have to do a juice fast for 2 weeks to meet the goals, I'm not going to make it. That's why I went ahead and joined the 6-month Transformer now, if I waited a month or two, I would (hopefully) be at a point where I probably couldn't lose 10% in a healthy way (and probably not 3% each of the first two months either). But starting now, I'm on the timeline I was already working toward. Now, if you're 5 lbs. from your ideal weight, maybe trying to lose 4% in a month isn't a great idea.

One thing I can say is that I've not come across any reviews saying that DietBet cheated them. I'll post more feedback after my month is up. I think my first official weigh-in is August 7-8.

I've never heard of DietBet, that sounds neat, might have to try it some time. Thanks for sharing & congrats on the weight loss!

Checking in for last week, no gain or loss. As frustrating as that might be I had a super successful Saturday. Tracked all my food in MFP, was within calories, and I had a wonderful workout. It was the first Saturday in a long time that I felt like I didn't undo all the hardwork!

Happy Monday Everyone. I've had to readjust my water intake. Trying to drink 124 ounces of water a day is just way too much. I've set a goal of 64 ounces, which are two of my Nalgene bottles. I'm increasing my bike riding today and am going up the road instead of round and round in the driveway, just as a trial. I ate out on Saturday night. Baked Haddock with stuffing and hollandaise sauce. It was so good. I split the meal with my honey. We got an extra vegetable instead of the potato. We also shared a Caesar salad, which I found out is very high in calories....must be the dressing. So gained .8 of a pound but lost all but .2 of it the next day. You really have to be so careful. But we are learning to eat out in a more healthy, controlled way. Off to my bike ride before it gets too hot!

A little late, but here it is:

QOTD for Monday:

Something fun to start the week: If you could be transported to a Disney Park of your choice right now for one ride only - which ride would you choose?

Ooh, I like this question. Expedition Everest front row for me. I love that ride. The ride plus all my screaming wakes me right up, fills me with energy for the day, and I can't keep the smile off my face.

How about.... Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Yep. That's my ride. DHS isn't my favorite park, but RnR, I think, would suit me just perfectly right now.
