OKAY -- I HAVE to book this week and I cannot decide between Silver Lake and Vacation Village at Parkway..!! I have read good (and bad) reviews for both properties. Is there anything that stands out in either that would be cause to choose one over the other?? I really like the location of Silver Lake..we normally rent a house on the south side of Irlo Bronson in the same area so, we are very familiar with everything and it doesn't take long to get to WDW from there. I just want a nice place to stay -- nicely decorated and CLEAN...! Also -- how is the parking at Silver Lake?? A lot of nights we don't come back until after the fireworks are over and I wouldn't want to walk forever to get back to the building. Pool area is a plus but, not a really huge deal b/c we usually spend all of our time at the parks. I don't know what to choose... HELP!!!!!!!

One thing that would drive me nuts at Silver Lake, if you get one of the units that backs up to Sherbeth you'll lose any and all privacy and hear cars and trucks cruising by all hours of the day and night.

I've never stayed there, but as I've driven by on Sherbeth, I've always though that I'd be very unhappy to have one of those rooms.

Well...I just checked the listing again b/c I have read about differences between Silver Lake and Silver Points. It seems that they are not offering any 2 bedroom at Silver Points during the dates we are going -- we will have to go with the regular Silver Lake which I think is the older section?? Can anyone tell me for sure about this?? Also...I read that the only building that has road noise is number 400. I thought I could call and request building 1000but, I don't know if this is a "points" building or a standard building!! Argh...I hate making decisions!

Soooo...knowing all of this, would Vacation Village be better??

I like the layout of the units at Vacation Village, and although I've never personally stayed there, I've sent many clients there and they've all loved it.
I think you are 5 min. from the parks.

I just looked up some pictures of the "standard" two bedroom villas for Silver Lake (not Silver points -- they are considered deluxe units). I don't think I can deal with all of the mirrors...!!! Does anyone know if they will guarantee you a specific building before you check in? If there is a chance I might get stuck with the mirror walls..I will HAVE to go somewhere else.

Does anyone know if you can prop the adjoining suite door open for the two bedroom at Vacation Villages??????

I stay at Silver Lake a lot, but would choose VVat Parkway over it any day. With either resort, bring two door stops with you.

At Silver Lake, the building you get depends upon the day you check in. There are exceptions, but generally buildings 800, 900, 1000, 1800 and 1700 are for Friday and Sunday checkins. If you check in on Saturday, chances are you will be in one of the older buildings, including the dreaded building 4 that backs up to Sherbeth Rd..

It is risky to accept a one bedroom at Silver Lake. They can put you in the smaller one bedroom lockoff that combines with a two bedroom to make a three bedroom unit. There is no large tub or dishwasher in these.

The larger A units at VVaP are all very nice and a sure thing compared to Silver Lake, but Silver Lake is closer and an easier drive. I would never book only a B unit at VVaP.
