Hello everyone. My husband and I are planning a budget trip in May without the children  . I was able to get a 1 bedroom at Silver Lake Resort-Silver Points through Sky Auction for the great price of $274 for a week tax included. We got one with a full kitchen. I just have a few questions about the room. Are there washer/dryer units in the one bedrooms? What about a Jacuzzi bathtub? Shampoo, hair dryer ,washing powder, and dish soap? I think that about covers it for now. Thanks for your help. DISBOARDS has been such a wealth of information to me in my planning. You guys are great. :Pinkbounc

We just traded into this exact same option. From all I could find it does have it's own washer/dryer and the units are about 735 square feet. I know they have smaller studios, but with a full kitchen this is what you should be getting. We go in June, so please post when you return. We've stayed at SL several times before, but always in a 2 bedroom. This year that option did not come up (we were very late in deciding), but it's only the 3 of us this year and before we had 4-6. Hope you have a wonderful trip and let us know how you like it.

Yes I saw the descriptions on the website for Silver Lake but they make no mention of a studio size so I didn't know if the site was accurate or not about the sizes of the 1 bedroom's. Thought maybe they had added smaller one bedrooms since that may not include the extra amenities or lockout units of the 3 bedrooms. We are very excited to try Silver Lake but are a little nervous because it will be our first time off-site. But we are easy to please as long as its clean. And you can't beat a week for under $300. I'll let you know how the unit was when we return.

There are two styles of one bedroom units. Both have a washer and dryer.

The differences:

One unit is the one bedroom half of a two bedroom condo. The bedroom is a bit small (IMHO) but the bathroom is huge. There is a large walk in shower and huge jacuzzi tub for two. The washer/dryer is in the bathroom. Next to the bedroom/bath side is the full kitchen and living room.

The other is the one bedroom lockoff unit that combines to make a three bedroom condo. These units are on the ends of the newer, taller buildings. The kitchen is a smaller galley type that leads into a small living room area. The washer/dryer unit is in the kitchen. The bathroom is a standard size with a jacuzzi tub/shower combo unit that fits one person. This room type is a bit smaller than the other type but is just fine. Both units have screened porches.

In the older section, there are tiny one bedroom units with kitchenettes. If they stick you in one of these, ask to be moved. I doubt if they will if your paperwork says you get a full kitchen.

I just love Silver Lake. It is an easy, short, traffic free drive to the parks.

A few other notes: They don't provide shampoo but do provide soap. There is usually one small box of laundry detergent. I bring my own (along with stain removal treatment). There is dish soap. I think all the units have hair dryers, but I bring my own just in case.

The tile floors can be a bit dirty but other than that, I have always been impressed with the maintenance at Silver Lake (I've stayed there about 8 times). The decorating is minimal and the sheets a bit scratchy (I bring my own high thread count sheets and down comforter). The resort is still under construction so the grounds are not finished. If you are willing to overlook these shortcomings, it can be a great, affordable place to stay very close to the parks.

Have a great time!
