I feel kind of selfish...but good hearted all at the same time...Let me explain...
I've been collecting Disney Dollars and have told people that if they want to give us $$$ for anything (birthdays, holidays etc) to do so in currency of Disney Dollars...
Here is my question...
Can you give disney dollars as a tip? Are CM able to turn them in somewhere in the world to get actual cash? Or do they have to play by the same rules as everyone else (IE you have to have a reciept in order to turn them in for american currancy) I know many have said to stash low bills but I wondered if this was an option. Its important to me to make sure that the CM's are well taken care of-after all they are all part of the magic!

In the olden days when I was a cast member, we could not use Disney Dollars any differently than the general public. However, most CM's do spend a few bucks at the resorts now and then. The CM's would prefer US currency as tips but would find a use for the Disney Dollars eventually. It would be like tipping someone with a gift certificate.

Since you asked...

I also think the CMs prefer to be tipped in US currency over Disney dollars because it gives them the greatest flexibility. When I tip someone for good service, I don't like to give them any hassles in return.

I follow the same mind set about tipping w/casino chips & coin at casino resorts, etc.

Have a great time at WDW! :)

fair enough-they how much $$$ did you bring in small bills?

At the risk of sounding stupid... how much is an appropriate tip for maid service?

Depends....How many people in the room, how sloppy you are. DH is a neat freak so we tipped for a family of 4 $5 a day. Be sure to tip daily since you wont know when your maid has a day off. And someone on the DIS has a place where you can download envelope templates that have Disney character on them for leaving tips. Of course when I tried the link I have it didnt work.
