My question is a little silly I suppose, but there is something that seriously annoys me. (though it probably shouldn't)

:teeth:

Why do ppl put "gg" at the end of everything they say? Why would you say "good going" or "good game" at the end of each sentence? :confused3

I've only seen "gg" at the end of games - especially at the end of the Fireworks Game.

Oh, wait...some people say "gg" when they see me (my title).

thats odd. im never seen anyone do that outside of the mini-games.

I think people say gg bc they want you to think they feel bad that u lost a game but they dont. It bothers me to but I say it anyway.

Are you sure it's not a bug? Sometimes VMK will add non sense to titles, descriptions and phrases people including NPCs say.

I think that's called a typo. :confused3

I've never seen it outside mini-games either, but it just feels weird when people say it after fireworks.

To the OP, I've never seen it outside a game either, eh?
I will say gg after each round of ghosts...unless it was "really" a good game, then i'll actually type it out. I never say it after fireworks as I'm really not playing against the other players, just myself....and until I break 7k, I'm not havin' a good game! LOL!

Me either, I have not see this other than coot or boot and pirates...just in games...lol!

I say it after a pirate game not because I want someone to think I feel bad that my opponent lost, but moreso just as a sort of "hand shake" after a match. For example, at the end of a tennis game, players will meet at the net and shake. To me, this is "gg" back on the pirate dock. Also, to my teammates it's sort of a "high five!" after a good game. I think it's just good etiquette.

I say it after the Pirates and the Mansion games. It's just a little courtesy, plus it's hard to type 'good game' when your busy shooting ships, or catiching ghosts.

Regardless of whether or not people say "gg" to try to demean others, it can't be worse than what people used to (and probably still do) say after they would beat you in a game of Starcraft... "easy vic." Talk about demeaning. lol

Again, I was referencing comments made outside of games. ;)

But, I asked several of the ppl I saw doing it why they say "gg" after every sentence and they said it means the same thing as a "smile" or "giggles" as opposed to using a simple :). Perhaps it is something widely used in other countries? :confused3 One of the ppl who I know that does it all the time if from a European country (no UK).

I don't know, but I wish they would use a simple smile instead of "gg" because it only confuses me. :rotfl:

There are many many things on vmk that are misused and/or misinterpreted. I'm not surprised that a number of people would see others saying "gg" and think it meant something else. "gg" is standard terminology for Good Game - it's used in many online games, not just vmk. ;)

Agreed!! :thumbsup2

Kind of along the same lines as people think that DH, DS and DD only means Disney Husband, Disney Son & Disney Daughter when in fact the "D" references "dear" or "darling." ;)
