Hey all,

I hope this does not sound stupid, but can you leave the resort for a day while there. For example say day 2 of 6 days there, we need something at walmart (or wherever) outside if Disney, is there any problems leaving and returning?? I may have misread somewhere it said something about that...so could you clarify any doubts or concerns I may have. I know we may have to make a run to walmart for diapers or meds (I hope not, but just in case we do)

You're allowed to leave property. Is that what you're asking? You'll need a car to go offsite though. You can use you're own, rental, or have your hotel call a cab.

Yes you can. It's just like any hotel. However, you would need to take your own vehicle or call a taxi as Disney does not offer rides except to the various parks. (If i'm wrong in any of this, or if I wasn't clear, feel free to elaborate.)

You're not jailed at Disney, you can leave any time you want without problem. You'll need your transportation of course, but you can rent a car or take a cab if you aren't driving to Disney to begin with. As far as problems getting on disney property, I've never had any even if not staying on property guest come to visit Disney properties all the time so it's no big thing coming and going.

Hopefully that helps, unless I totally missed the point of your question. If so, I apologize!

I'm sorry if I'm being mean, but you did call this one correctly ... it IS a silly question!:lmao:

I can't imagine there's a hotel in the free world that will not permit you to leave the hotel's property.

PrincessMom4:

Don't worry about sounding stupid. We've all had some questions that sound silly to Disboard vets and newbies.

Like the previous posters have said, you will be allowed to go in and out of your Disney resort.

I thought I would give you some helpful info. It sounds like you will be driving your own car. If that's the case, when you approach the guard gate (upon your initial arrival) at your resort, you will be asked to show your driver's license and state your name. They will then check their list for your name. You will be directed to the check in facilities at your resort.

When you check in at the front desk, you will be given a piece of paper (about the size of a 5x7 photo) that states your resort name and when you will be checking out. You will need to keep this on the dash of your car.

You won't be required to show any kind of identification when you leave your resort but when you come back into your resort, you will need to have your parking pass paper to show the guard gate.

It's a simple process so I wouldn't fret too much!

Hope this helps, Lisa

The only circumstances when I can imagine Disney discouraging guests from leaving property would be if there was an iminent hurricane, and then it would be a safety thing more than anything else. It's convenient to not have to leave, but you are most certainly allowed to. I've made trips to the beach, to the store, to church, to friend's houses, back home (sometimes you forget things), to the gas station, or even just to eat or shop off property.

The only time I hate to leave mid-trip is if I've scored a really great parking space. Parking can be a premium commodity if you're at a convention resort and there's a big group in house. I can remember circling the CR parking lot again, and again, and again . . . .

Oh, and to add to the previous post, you will also need your resort ID in addition to the parking permit. At least I have the past few times I've stayed there.

Many of the resorts have a separate lane at the resort entrance where you use your key to open the gate to get back in.

Yes you can leave. They are certain you're going to return cuz you left stuff there. I remember one time my brother insisted on taking us back to CSR after Illuminations and missed the exit and we got off property. I made a joke that I was not ready to return to reality yet and get me back to Fantasyland ASAP. :rotfl:

See I read one posting somewhere and I must have misread it, but t hatnks for the reassurance. That all sounds too easy... I am definitely doing my happy dance now... Man I feel stupid for asking..
