How is the condition of the rooms in AB? Considering booking a 5th sleeper, but concerned about the condition of the rooms after reading some reviews.

Excellent. They were fully refurbished immediately before the 18-month COVID closure in 2020-2021, so they actually look pretty new.

Our very first time at POR was in building 25. I booked a king room and we were given a king room, corner room, with a pool view. We were about as close to the quiet pool as you can get. It was a really nice room. But I kept getting lost trying to find my way to and from the main building.

It was the first time we had stayed at a moderate resort and we were impressed. The AB room reminded me of Wilderness Lodge. POR has become one of our favorite resorts.

I am very excited to stay in AB. My DD and I watched a video tour, and she thinks it is so cute and especially liked the shower curtain (ha ha).

We stayed in the 5th sleeper and it was great! I love it because 5th sleeper thingy when it's not folded down is perfect for storing luggage! The toilet/shower area doesn't look brand new but the rest of the rooms looked clean and fresh! I stayed one night of my trip in a Royal Room and it was TIRED. AB is a breath of fresh compared to that!

Reaching out to see how busy the quiet pools get. DD does not like pools with lots of people and we have booked a 5th sleeper to make sure we are in Alligator Bayou/quieter area. This will be last week of February (we are from VT so it'll seem warm enough to swim for us). Thank you!

We found the quiet pools on the bayou side much quieter than one on the magnolia side. In August 2024, we were almost always alone in the pool or with 1 other family max.

We've never been on the bayou side. Magnolia side we were usually alone, and never had more than two other people in the pool with us.

Standard ought to do it. Avoid 5th Sleeper, and also avoid Preferred Location as in 2026 that could put you in either section. Royal Room would also guarantee that you won't get an old room by then, but their refurbs probably won't be complete by Feb so you are unlikely to be able to book that anyway.

Very likely. The current booking block-out for Royal Rooms is only until 5th April, so clearly they expect them to be completed at least by then.

Another refurbishment question, apologies in advance. Booked a 5th sleeper, standard view for WDW Marathon Weekend, January 6th - 13th 2026. Reading on Reddit and here it sounds like there could be rooms that are not refurbished yet in this category for my trip? I have read conflicting answers so I thought 'why not ask.'

A friend book the room with their CM discount and this was the only room category available at Port Orleans. Is that a good indicator that it will be a non-refurbished room?

None of the 5th Sleeper rooms are included in the current round of refurbishments, they will probably get round to doing them again sometime next year I guess. But honestly, they were last refurbed in 2019, so with the 18 month COVID closure they're pretty much as good as new anyway.
