Silly Question-SSR Balcony

One bedroom, SSR. The balcony.

Since this will be our first stay in a DVC (or anything other than a moderate, for that matter), I'm wondering about the balcony.

Are there chairs? I would assume there are or that there are at least chairs that can be taken from the room to the balcony. What I really want to know is is there a table at a suitable height to hold a laptop and work comfortably. I like sitting outside and doing my morning work (I still have work I have to do via a VPN each morning, even on vacation) and having a cup of coffee without the discomfort of having to hold my laptop in my lap. :lmao:

Is there a suitable table out there, weather permitting, of course?

Thanks. I'm sure I'll have a hundred more specific questions in the next 9 days that will seem silly to many of you so I'll try to confine them to this thread if that's OK. :)

Anyone have some links to REAL pics of the studios and one BRs at SSR?

Thanks in advance!

I am sure the table was the same height as the seat of the chair so not very high almost like a foot stool! The chairs and tables were all green plastic patio furniture.

Claire ;)

Thank you Claire!

Not exactly the answer I wanted but the one I was expecting to hear, nonetheless. The picture puts it all in perspective. Forget the laptop! Work? What work?!? :rotfl2:

Just an FYI for future stays...OKW is the only DVC resort at WDW with full-sized table and chairs on the balcony. It's a large table with 4 chairs, like a patio set, and you could easily do your work at it. They are on the balconies of all 1BR, 2BR and GV units.

Wow. That's good information. I would have never guessed that. Thanks.

If I remember correctly (and I may not be lol), when I was at SSR last time (last January) they were replacing the green plastic chairs with something much better.

Can anyone confirm that has stayed there more recently?

The tables have recently been upgraded to tile-top tables, but this photo gives you an idea of what the OKW balcony is like.

The Grand Villas at AKV and the SSR Treehouses will also have full-size table and chairs.

Here are some photos of the newer chairs including those at SSR:

If you look at the BoardWalk chair photo on that page, in the background you'll see the type of small side table provided at most resorts. Not much to look at, eh? ;)

One other thing to keep in mind though is that you'll need to bring a LONG ethernet cord. The rooms are not WIFI accessible, so unless you have your own WIFI card/adapter to connect to and you plan to use the resort's hi speed access you'll need a long cord to stretch out to the balcony.

Here are a few shots from our past trip of our studio (sorry a bit messy-we were checking out that morning)-I'll have to dig out some of a 1 bedroom villa tomorrow...

Looking from the entrance toward the balcony, there's a queen bed and a pull-out (full-sized) sofa bed

Kitchenette area (on the right side after you walk into the room)-the fridge did have a small freezer which was great because I was able to fit all of my cold packs in them and they stayed frozen for our trip home so we were able to bring perishables home with us

Looking toward the door, the connecting door to the side goes to the villa next door. It was a good place to keep our clothes without unpacking;-)

Bathroom sink area-just one sink but lots of counter space-closet is to the right of the sink.

We were in the Grandstand section which was a nice change, we usually prefer Congress Park but we had a nice view of the golf course on the first floor level. We could see the buses as they came up the road and we'd have enough time to leave the room and walk out (fast) to catch them...

We also had a little bunny friend hangin out in the bushes by our room. He is tough to see in the photo but he was there.

Thanks. I'm a SE by trade so I'll probably have my wireless access point/router set up before we get unpacked. I typically do. :lmao:

I can't wait to actually have something other than a hotel room (9 days and counting)! I needed an excuse to carry two laptops instead of one! My wife loves that we're driving for the first time ever next Sat. :rotfl2:
