Silly question: Lightsaber on plane

My son is going to be Anakin Skywalker for Halloween and needs to bring his lightsaber on the plane . It is still in the packaging. Will they give me a problem with security when I am at the airport? I was going to put it in checked baggage. Thanks

Just tell him not to use the force while the plane is in motion.

Almost 29 years ago, we went to Canada to visit my dad who was there on business for a few months. We visited a castle in Toronto and bought plastic swords. It was our very first time on an airplane, and it was just my mom, who was only like 27 at the time, me 7, and my sister age 5. Wouldn't you know the airport screeners took the plastic swords out of our bags?!?! We were separated and qestioned by Canadian airport security. They held up the departure of the plane. My mom cried at the time.

Now, it is kind of a funny family story. Who in their right mind would think that a young woman with two small girls would highjack a plane plastic swords?
