Silly question, Halloween at DVC: trick or treat?

Arriving at Disney's HHI ON Halloween and wondering if the kids go around to the villas for treats? I just want to be prepared if they do!:teeth:

I think that is a great idea. I have never been that time of year so I can't answer the question. But imagine how fun it would be if all DISers put a sign on their door that they belonged. That way the kiddos would feel comfy about knocking and trick or treating.

Oops, just realized you were asking about HH. Oh well, it could apply to any DVC resort, right?? ::yes::

You can certainly get something started along these lines for people who want to hang something on their door to indicate participation. Be aware, however, that there's potential for noise-making and for kids being uncareful about which doors they knock on that could wake sleepers or babies, and disturb other people's vacations. The "trick" aspect of trick-or-treat is not welcome in a resort.

Of course, you can always buy tickets to MNSSHP, where there's plenty of trick-or-treating!

At the WDW resorts they had activities for the kids and passed out candy at Downtown Disney. They may have something similar there.

What about if everyone who wants to participate agrees to go down to a particular area in the DVC resort at a certain time - say between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm? Then it would be easy for the parents to keep an eye on the people who are giving kids candy, it would be fun for the "givers" to see all of the costumed kids together, and no one who doesn't want to be disturbed would be. Our neighborhood always has a little parade on Halloween. Maybe people could station themselves along a small route and pass out candy that way. ::MinnieMo

We arrive at Hilton Head on 10/30 for three nights. Last December the CMs described what the resort does for Halloween, and my kids decided to go to HH instead of Disney for 10/31 especially when they heard Shadow even participates. The CMs dress up and have stations around the resort to pass out candy. At least that is what they told my kids. The idea about going from room to room also sounds good. Hope to see you there.

Last year my parents were at Marriott's Grande Ocean at HH and said they were given something to hang on the outside of the door to indicate is they wanted to participate in Trick or Treating or not. They really enjoyed doing this for the kids there.

I could just see all of the kids in costume running around OKW trick or treating. I think it would be a great idea to start something like this.

What fun!! May have to look into going "home" for Halloween. Really could start a fun tradition, not only at HH but at all the dvc resorts. Only thing is, I want to got trick or treating with my daughter, so who is gonna pass out the goodies?:D

The OP is going to Hilton Head, no MNSSHP there.

Not sure about logistics, but since so many DVC'ers either drive or rent a car, maybe a central parking lot could be used for a "Trunk or Treat". Several neighborhoods that have a lot of distance between houses are starting this tradition in church parking lots, fire stations, etc. One parent stays at the car and hands out treats while the other walks the kids from car to car to receive the goodies. (All parked with engines turned off, of course!)

I would just wonder how many members would actually be in their villa when this event would be conducted. Most would probably be in the parks or at the MNSSHP.
