My family and I are going home to the World in a couple of weeks. My family hasn't been on a plane in years. I've flown a few times in the past few years, but always with carry-on luggage. So....my silly question is this......flying out of JFK on Jetblue, checking our luggage....how early do we have to get there to check luggage and go through security? Is there still curbside check in or do we have to go into the terminal and stand on line to check the bags? So rusty in this dept. any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Diane

I've never noticed if Jetblue has curb-side check-in, but I always use the self check-in kiosk, which allows you to stand in a much shorter line to just turn in your bag.

Allow yourself a firm 90 minutes to get through security and get to the gate. Sometimes you zip through quickly and sometimes you don't... If possible, have everyone wear slip-on shoes and hide non-metal belts, or put belts in carryons - if security sees a belt of any kind, they make you take it off.

Generally security lines get longer as the day goes on...

Hope that helps!

I flew out of JFK to WDW Nov 07. I flew continental and dropped my family at the curbside drop off point and used curbside check in. I then parked the car and took the air train to the terminal. I was mostly unfamiliar with JFK since I mostly fly out of Newark so I did some online research. I would call Jet Blue and make sure they have curbside check in. As far as the airport, being that it is JFK I would probably allow an hour and a half just in case to get through security but it would probably depend on whether you are flying peak hours or not. I would always rather be a little early then get stressed out running through the airport to make a flight especially since I have small kids. I'm guessing they move your question to another category.

Remember at JFK you should be heading to Jetblue's new terminal. I haven't seen it yet, get our first chance in Feb.

The new termninal is great, we flew Jet Blue to St. Maarten out of JFK in November, parked the car and took the Airtrain over to the airport, got off at the terminal, did self check in and off we went, cleared security in no time. Even if we had bags to check, it would have been quick, we scanned our passports, punched in the info and that was it, if you check bags, you then take your bags to the counter, it was maybe 4 deep if that and this was the Sunday after thanksgiving. We are flying them again 2/16, hope it will be as easy as it was!

We are flying out of the new JFK terminal in 2 weeks- woohoo. Anyway in the old terminal they did offer curb side so i would assume in the new one they will as well.

We love JetBlue and fly them every time we go to WDW. Last year, they had curb-side check in and it went very smoothly. I can only guess that the new terminal has curb-side, as well. Have a great trip!

FYI-
It is $2 a bag (tipping optional) to do curbside check-in at JFK as well as Orlando on the return.

By the way, JetBlue is awesome for its roomy leather seats, friendly staff, individual satellite TV and free yummy snacks (Dunkin donuts coffee, etc.). $1 for earphones. Single plug earphones work fine if you want to bring your own.
