Silliest question/comment you've heard about Disney?

Before I left to go last week, a co worker said "what are you going for again?!" I explained that each time we go we do our favorite things AND we do new things. Also that we were staying at Animal Kingdom Kidani Village and have never stayed there before. I felt like asking him "why do you golf at the same place week after week?!" LOL


While at EPCOT, I heard someone say "I thought future world was that big ball". LOL! I also heard a family joking about being told they needed to be by the big white ball. As they stood by the fountain with the big white ball right in view, they joked about not being able to find it. That wasn't anyone on this thread was it? (This was Sunday, 10/7)

Sitting in the Dawa Bar area in AK during the thunderstorm: We struck up conversation with an older obviously well-off gentleman. He told us that he was shocked at how deteriorated AK was -- cracked pavements, pealing paint, everything looked so worn. I told him that this was how it was supposed to look. He was in shock. "They paid money to make it look this bad?"


A friend from church going on their first trip to WDW, a Christmas family gathering arranged by dmil: "We don't need ADRs. Her travel agent said everything would be just fine without them." A few weeks before the trip they were scrambling to make ADRs. (They did not have a great trip.)

My memory could be playing tricks on me, but at one time wasn't there a third party ticket called the Orlando Flex Pass or something that was good at different parks (Disney, USF, SW, BG)?

edit: I just looked it up. It includes most everything EXCEPT Disney.

Is that the Flexticket you're talking about? It's very popular in the UK. I believe Virgin Holidays does sell a package/ ticket that includes admission to universal and Disney. But not sure if you even have Virgin holidays in the US.

Have you ever seen this US Disney combo ticket?

On another thread someone pointed to a "Combo" sold by a Ticket Discounter in the UK. I looked at the fine print and it states that you will get two tickets, a 14 day WDW ticket and a 2 park ticket for US both good for 14 days.

As far as I know there are no tickets you can buy that will work in both Disney and US turnstiles. Now in California they do sell a Disney US ticket since they market the park differently there.

At DLR they know that most people only stay 2 or 3 days so they team up with US to make it a weeks worth of vacation. No need to do that in Florida.

2. When I offered to bring lunch with us into the park she insisted that it would just be easier and cheaper to eat at the park. "We can get waited on" She didn't believe me when I said that if we ate in the park it'd be strictly counter service.

Am I missing something here? I mean... you can most definitely eat at a sit down restaurant and be waited on in the park... It's not just counter service.

Well, I know that it is hard to get to specific restaurants... But I've never heard that there are times, other than Christmas week, where you can't get any table service..

It is very difficult to get MOST table service restaurants without an ADR. You might be able to find a few each day, but only if you are willing to leave your park to go to another or go to a resort. Even during slow times the majority of TS restaurants are booked in advance. I've gone twice, solo, during slow weeks and not been able to get a walk-in to any TS that I wanted to. I didn't really mind though, since I actually prefer CS.

Best way to find out is to go on the dining website right now and see what's available for tomorrow. I bet it's more than you think it would be.

It's always interesting to me how two guests experiences could be so polar opposite! We were there this past August, during a slow week, and walked into numerous restaurants without ADRs and there were 3 in our party. The only place we couldn't eat at was Teppan Edo... But were seated, after a minimal wait, at Tokyo Dining.

I would qualify that - it is very difficult to get TS restaurants in MK and DHS. It's very difficult to get most character meals and some really popular places in Epcot. Few resort restaurants are booked that full. And several of the restaurants in EPcot take walk-ups any day.
