Just looking for info on the silhouettes you can get made on main street. I would love to get one of DS3 but I know he wouldn't hold still for very long. Does anyone know how long a person needs to sit there for? Or can I bring in a picture of him for them to use instead? Also, does anyone know the price?

They only sit there for a few minutes - it doesn't take long at all. My daughter is fidgety and we've never had a problem and we get on each year. She has the child sit in a chair and face the street which keeps them entertained as well as a wall display of disney stickers.

Okay, that sounds like it might be possible for DS, maybe. He's had a long medical history so he's a little leery of being made to do things when it involves someone he doesn't know since he never knows when someone is going to poke him or do some other awful thing. I would like to try it sometime though. I have a silouette of me when I was little (not from DL) so i thought it would be fun to have one of DS. What a great idea to get one done every year!

How much is it?

oooh...what a wonderful idea! i'm going to have to put this on my list of things to do while we are there in may.

does anyone have the price???

It's only something like $9 and you get two copies of it. You can also buy special frames that are actually quite a good deal...which you figure out when you don't buy them, get home and try to find good little frames, and realize that it's nearly impossible, LOL.

And it only takes what feels like moments. The little wall of stickers already mentioned is brilliant...the artist talks to your kid about fave characters, etc, all the while cutting the paper...it's absolutely amazing. And then its done before you really realize it's started.

Just to let you know they can also work from photographs. My Mom was talking about doing one of her dog and they said yes, you just have to take a good profile shot.

I talked to one of the woman last year, they are amazing! They make it look so easy! I want to get one of DH and I to go with the one from when I was a child.

I have them of all my children who are now adults and as soon as I can get my grandchildren out here I am getting ones of them done.

oh that seems so neat, i wonder if you can do 1 picture of all 4 of my kids, i think if they do i would pay 2 times so i get 4

We had our 2-year old's silhouette done in September, and I want to say it was $11. It's possible the price went up a bit, or I could be misremembering. I think the woman cutting the silhoutte was done in under a minute, and my daughter wasn't really sitting that still at all. I was amazed!

We put it in a regular frame and gave one to grandma for Xmas. She loved it.

We had one done of our girls, we have it framed and it's surrounded by the Disney Silhouette pin series. :) It's so neat!!!! By far my absolute fave of our pin sets. :) When we were there we saw the Lady & Tramp with spaghetti in the store and we asked about it, the lady doing ours (she has worked there for ever and she was fast!) said we could bring in pictures of our doggies and they could do them for us. :) I do agree about getting a frame there, we didn't because it wouldn't work for what we wanted to do but I wish I'd bought one for the extra one we gave to my Mom.

Thanks for all the info everyone! :goodvibes I'll have to see if we can do this next time we go. If DS screams his head off than I'll just have to try getting a good side-view picture for them to work off of.

I had my first silhouette done when I was 14 years old. I'm 43 now. When we went back last year in July, I walked in and an older woman was doing the silhouettes that day. They have either 3 or 4 people is all that do this work. After talking to her for a while, she was so curious to wonder if she was the person who did my first one when I was 14. She said if she could look at it, she would be able to tell.

I was amazed that it only took less then a minute to complete. It took longer to put the silhouette on the cardboard and ring me up then it did for her to complete it.

They don't even need to sit for a minute! We did five of our GK las may. They sat on a parent's lap, looked at a Disney picture for a couple seconds and the amazing lady snipped away. You really get 2 of the silhouettes..and it was 7.00 each..best cheap souvenier out there.

I bought a bunch of their frames once at the disney outlet stores..here is a link to their store listing:

You could call them and see if they have any black, oval frames before you drive out to the store. If one is not close to you maybe they could ship them to you? I bought quite a few for only a few dollars once and am still using them!

I got my DD's first silhoutte in March 2003-she was 3-1/2. princess: I asked the artist to date it. She also signed it. Then I had her 2nd one in May 2005. Artist also signed and dated it. When I went to finally frame them I realized that they were done by the same artist, Sylivia. :goodvibes So, since the frame I used was for 3 pictures I got her next one done in July 2007. I asked at the store (over a few visits) when Sylvia would be in and they told me... so I was able to get her to do the 3rd one as well! They look so cool in the frame, you can see the difference in DD's profile (and hair length) as she aged. Sylvia has been there for years.

I'm planning on having her silhoutte done again this year, and I will looking for Sylvia. I went back and looked in my records and the ones done in July 07 cost $7.54 inc. tax. That was 1-1/2 years ago, so I'm sure it's gone up a little.

Here's how I display it-

<-----------Check out my pic!

The silhouettes are the best souvie! My 4 year old screamed the whole time and they still turned out adorable. Truly a lost art! They cut so fast and use their memory, it will blow your mind. They can get really busy, tho, so try to find a time there isn't a line. We stopped by at 11 am on a weekday and there was no one there. I have seen lines out the door down Main Street!!

I bought the oval frame and I love it, as my daughter pointed out it has hidden Mickey's on it.:)

OMG these are our fav. souvenier as well We have 2 sets and plan to get one this next time as well  Do you know if you can get a Jack Skellington one done?
