Silhouettes anyone?

When we were at WDW in 1989, we had silhouettes made of our 2 DD's. He did a terrific job, and I can look at it today and picture them as they were then -- it was such a good likeness. Then we had one made at DL and it was just ok -- it didn't really capture their personalities as well. With our third DD, we had one made a couple of years ago at WDW and I was not real impressed.

We'll be back in a week and a half, and DD3 wants to have another silhouette made. Has anyone done this lately and had good results? Is there a particular artist that I should look for? I'd like to have a good one of her too.

Thanks

We had one of our DD the week before her 2nd birthday, May of 2004. It is adorable. When I look at it I can see her sitting there. It captured her spunky personality. We had it done right across from Ye Old Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square. It was a middle aged woman. Sorry I don't know her name.
We will be getting both DD now 4 and DS 18 mo done in April! :cool1:

Good luck! Our silhouettes are old, the one of dh and I was done in 1985, our first trip ever to WDW and then we had our 2 dds done 1988. Both are fantastic likenesses and I love em! :)

You will find the artists in each of the parks as well as Downtown Disney. I'm guessing all of them are terrific. The ones we had done in December are a real treasure.

It's amazing how the really good ones can capture so much personality in just 2 dimensions and one color! We'll try it again with her; she's turning 4 while we're there and it is a nice souvenir.

We had one done with all 7 of us in the picture(me dh and 5 kids) 3 of my kids and my dh wear glasses---the mid-age woman at the liberty tree place did ours and everyone comments on the details and how it looks like all of us---i bought both views and have them hanging paired on either side of another piece of art!--my guests comment more on the sils than the art!!! :rotfl2:

We did a silhouette of our 1 year old at the stand in Liberty Square, which turned out OK. You get two (one facing in each direction) for less than $10

Wow, I thought, for some strange reason that they had stopped doing that at WDW. My Dad still has one of me sitting on his office shelf. I think I was 9 years old when it was done...kinda weird for me to look at since I am 30 yrs old now.

In October 1 Granddaughter had her silhouette done near the Christmas shop. It only takes a few minutes. Everytime 2 years she get a silhouette done.

The other Granddaughter got a charcoal done. The charcoal took about 1/2 hour to complete.

Both came out very good.
