Microban is in LOTS of products. Products that children place in their mouths. That's why Microban is in those products. Since Silestone is the one saying its in their product, I don't really see it as a kiss of death. Its not a secret afterall. Its marketed as a plus....just like all other products that add Microban.
Microban is in the disinfectant category. Kills growth of germs / bacteria. I hardly think they'll be taking disinfectants off the market. People aren't scared of them.
I think you are just scared of the word pesticide for some reason.
We fabricate & sell the Quartz products. .
Whether or not the OP is afraid of pesticides, she sells a competitor for Silestone.
We have seen many products come & go. All the Stone sites are in shock Silestone started this lawsuit,it was a dumb move. It is very hard to recover from this type of negative image of your product. The rest of the industry will jump on it & slam them.
It not like Silestone is the only Quartz out there. Zodiaq is just recovering from the manufaturing problems they had years ago.
Cambria & Avanza have the greengaurd label now. IMO that is the way the industry will go.
I don't think that most people who are redoing their counter tops will notice or care. They will care about appearance, price and durability.
I can't believe anyone cares this much about countertops. Personally, I wouldn't give a rat's buttinksi.
Microban = Good. Agent Orange = Bad. Killing germs, good. Killing the vegetables on the countertop, bad.

LYSOL is a registered pesticide too. That doesn't scare people either.
To me, any talk from competitors sounds like they are the ones trying to drum up a negative image for Silestone. But it doesn't sound like the consumers are worried about it at all.
I googled "silestone pesticide". Know what came up? The article you linked & this thread. So it doesn't seem like its a big deal to consumers or in the industry.
I agree with what Dawn said on some level. I have Silestone (with Microban). But we looked at all the stone products....all the granites & all the quartz. We did pick quartz because of its properties, Silestone because of its color & the Microban.
Now knowing its a pesticide doesn't change my opinion of Microban. We knew it killed bacteria....no matter what you call it.
Again, it sounds like Silestones competitors trying to spin the story into something bad when its not.
This thread has over 300 views. And not one post of "omg....its a pesticide".
Don't worry about it. I really don't think its going to affect your business or theirs much.
