I empower dh to make decisions that involve the kids. Really, he should be doing more and I want him to. They are his kids too and he is a great father!

If you want DH to be more involved...let him! Does he have less say than you? Do you trust him with his children? Do you always agree on everything?
Does he have a problem with nail polish or his sister cleaning DS's ears?

Don't sweat, the small stuff, there are bigger battles to fight...trust me.
And, please, do not think, I'm beating up on you. I'm not, just trying to give a different perspective.
