Hi! We sail Friday on the Dream and I've always joined a group that has put together a mixology for us. However, this year we booked the cruise about 2 weeks ago so we didn't look into any of the cruise groups here on the boards. Anyway--can anyone tell me how to sign up for Mixology once onboard? I know we will want to sign up right away as it fills up quickly. I checked a Navigator but couldn't tell.

Thanks!

There is usually a location listed in the Navigator to sign up, but you can also sign up at guest services.

We always just go to Guest Services as soon as we board and ask what tastings are available and then book. You may get directed to one of the bars or lounges in the Navigator too. I find that on the Magic it's best just to go to Guest Services but the Dream (and presumably the Fantasy) to go to the appropriate lounge as mentioned in the Navigator.

On the June 4 Fantasy cruise, I originally went to Guest Services. There, I was told I needed to go to La Piazza to sign up. The good news was I did not need to wait too long before finding out I was in the wrong place. In La Piazza, they had 'menus' of all the different classes and tastings and the costs for each one. The bartender at La Piazza was the one who signed everyone up and printed the tickets. Based on the set up, I would think that this is where they always do the sign ups on day 1 on the Fantasy. But as DISNEY FANTASY showed on the Navigator, they list where you should go. I just (incorrectly) assumed I needed to go to Guest Services.

Following! Interesting you can't sign up online with everything else?
The tastings classes are very dependent on who's on that sailing that can give the class, as well as whether many large groups have prearranged their own classes. There's no way to know until the actual day of the cruise what, if any will be offered.

Unlike the character meet & greets (which were just recently added to pre booking). Those can be set up since they know what characters are onboard beforehand. And schedule them accordingly.

When booking some ticketed events was offered online pre-cruise, I wondered if I could predict the tasting times using posted navigators from recent cruises to detect a pattern (so my selected princess meet and greet time wouldn't conflict with say, Champagne tasting)...so I embarked on a research project that flopped...I found little predictability even on the same itinery

The online system is developing and mixology will be added soon as well.......

Many bar staff are trained on it.

Yes DCL do put on the navigator where to go, the one posted is from the current Disney Magic cruise. Whilst GS can do it, - if you are directed to a set location, you should follow that, and if you want expect help in selecting the nominated place is the correct place to go.

Would you recommend this for a couple celebrating an anniversary and birthdays? Trying to find some cool stuff to do on board too.

Definitely. It's a great way to try things you never would normally, you learn a lot and you may find out that there are things you didn't think you would like but now do. Having done tastings for wine (twice), tequila (twice), beer, champagne, chocolate and liquor, mixology (twice), martini, whiskey, and cognac, we've discovered new items that we now buy at home and, particularly in the summer, will sit outside on the deck after work or on the weekend enjoying a glass together.

Thanks so much

But some are consistently offered late. For instance, I've only seen cognac late at night as opposed to during the day. You know the late night ones won't conflict, but others do seem to vary quite a lot.

Yes, the cognac and whiskey were both at 10 pm. On our Northern European cruise last year, there was both a high-end whiskey and high-end cognac tasting offered which we didn't see until too late that I would like to have done. They were both at 10 pm or possibly even later.

Also wanted to mention that, even if you don't get tickets for the tasting on the first day, do check back. Sometimes there are cancellations, sometimes they just don't get a lot of demand (we got the chocolate and liquor one a day before it was offered and it was amazing) and sometimes you can basically show up and ask if there's room. Initially for the cognac one we were the only ones signed up but a group of six who were travelling together heard about it at the last minute and joined us.

Thanks! Went to guest services on the Dream after embarkation and had no problem signing up. It was listed in the navigator as the place to go. Once again a highlight of our trip!

How much were the classes?
