Signature restaurant in park clothes?

We always dress for dinner, even at Hoop Dee Doo. We dress for dinner on cruises too. Still, I never notice what others are wearing, it doesn't bother me in the least, I could care less. My dining experience is not affected by what others are wearing.

I'm with you on this Becca. I like to dress a little nicer to go out to dinner, but I never understood why it's so important to some people how other people dress at a restaurant.

OP - Not sure how you dress in the parks, but if it makes you feel better, you can always bring a nicer shirt/shorts or what not with you to the park, stow it in a locker, and switch outfits before going to Artist Point.

i ate there about two weeks ago and there were people in all sorts of clothing.there were two young ladies at a table in hats which we thought was rude but since they were children i dont think the CMs wanted to butt in. the only people who we saw questioned about being there was this odd family that came in, stood in the middle of the dining room, and discussed the painting on the wall. it was for like 20 minutes and the staff asked them what they were doing. enjoy the meal, the menu is amazing.

I wish I had read this post a week ago. We had reservations at JIKO at the AKL and when I made the ADR they told me the dress code was 'no flip flops or swimwear, however, T-Shirts ARE now allowed'. Frankly, that means nothing to me, since when I dress up, half of the dress shoes I own are flip flops. *shrug* The day it was scheduled for we decided not to go since we didn't want to waste time going back to our resort, freshening up, and transferring to AKL. THEN we decided that we did want to go, but didn't have time to go to our resort at all and we would have to go in our park clothes. DH was very skeptical about going in our park clothes (even though we did not look grungy at all, I was wearing a plain Pink fitted T-shirt and White capri pants with clean tennis shoes and DH was wearing Jeans, and a White T-shirt with a simple logo on the front). We asked 4 Cast Members if they thought it would be OK, since the 'dress code' wasn't very specific in the first place and they all looked at me like I was crazy and they said we looked just fine.
We went and saw a fair share in khakis and polos, some heels, and dress shirts, but no formal wear to any degree. On the other note, we saw people in jeans and T-shirts AND we even saw some people in sports shorts and dirtier T-shirts. However, I would have felt more comfortable in black pants and heels. Plus, for what you pay for the experience, it is nice to look the part heh.

In June 2009, DH and I had a night out from the kids at Artist Pointe. I told him about the dress code and made him wear Khaki's and a polo while I wore a sundress.

At signature restaurants I think people should dress up but since Disney isn't enforcing it, you'll probably blend right in wearing your park clothes.

.... DH wasn't happy and spent the dinner griping about me making him "dress up", effectively ruining the evening to the point that I don't know if I'll book another signature restaurant again. .

I guess I just don't understand the big deal about putting on a polo shirt and a clean pair of pants (shorts are no problem). Sorry to hear your DH ruined the evening for you, but his attitude seems a bit immature.

The hour or two of park time you lose to freshen-up for a meal that's going to cost you almost $100 a person seems to be a fair trade. I guess if you are on the DP or FD plan, then it doesn't matter.

How many folks walk into church or a wedding dressed in dirty t-shirts and cut-offs? If you are from the South, you are excused. :goodvibes

I know we are all on vacation, and what someone wears shouldn't have any impact on anyone else's dining experience. However it does when you drag in an exhausted child straight from a rope drop to closing day in the parks. A little down time to freshen-up probably makes everyone feel better.

Despite the seeming double standard, I believe it is not a breach of etiquette for women to wear hats at table, but it is for men. in fact, one of the stated dress code rules for signature restaurants is no hats on men - females can keep the hats. I do believe that isn't enforced most places. The only thing I've seen enforced lately was no holey jeans.

I am sure you will be absolutely fine in any Disney signature if you go in wearing anything other than a swimsuit, cutoffs, or torn clothing.

Apparently you haven't been to many churches in the south. Dressing on Sunday is a tradition in the south. SEC schools also dress for football games. Yes, sorority and fraternity members stand around in sundresses and ties to attend home games. This comment is rude, over generalized and derogatory.

There is no dress code. I don't know why Disney continues to pretend that there is. Park wear is fine at any place other than V&A. They say no tank tops on men and no swim suits. Other than that, anything goes and we've seen it all. Frankly, I don't think they'd stop a woman in swimwear as long as she has a cover up.

The night we dined at Citricos, many patrons were going to Mickey's Halloween Party. They seated a woman dressed in the sexiest devil girl get-up I've ever seen. She had the body for it, but a swimsuit would have provided more coverage!

Relax. It's anything goes at the signature restaurants!

Last year, I made the kids dress up for our dinner at Narcooses during the Christmas holiday. DS wore a suit, and the girls wore very nice dresses. Boy were they mad at me when we walked in and they saw other diners wearing jeans and shorts. :rotfl:

I told them it's very rare that we dress for dinner, and tonight we were doing it! :snooty:

What I've always wondered is -

If you can't wear swim suits, flip flops, torn or ripped clothing, tank tops, etc to a signature restaurant, is there no problem wearing them to a non signature restaurant?

Can I show up to Chef Mickey's in my bathing suit and flip flops and be served?

I kind of always assumed the "no shirt, no shoes, no service" rule (pants a la Donald, are optional).

Nah, I'm from the deep south, and I didn't find it offensive. It actually made me giggle, because I have seen it all. You haven't lived until you go to a wedding reception at a fire station where people are wheeling in their ice chests because the reception is BYOB, set-ups provided, as stated ON THE INVITATION! lol!

BTW frat boys wear their uniform to games, button down Ralph Lauren polo shirts with the sleeves rolled up, kaki shorts, brown belt, and Sperry's with no socks. Girls do wear sundresses though. I'm at every LSU home game (in the Stadium Club natch).
