Signature Dining

I just want to put in a vote for Cali Grill - of the two Sig restaurants I've had a chance to try, that was my favorite.

Now the one I'm most excited about trying has to be Narscisci's (Sp?) at the GF, for surf and turf!

I am wondering if you could jpick just two signature dining to go while at Disney, which two would you choose. My DH and I are going this December and would like to eat at two of the Signature Dining. However, no we are having a hard time to choosing. I would love to go to California Grill but not sure about this rest. My DH wants to go to Jiko's, Flying Fish, and Yachtsman Steakhouse. So I need some advice from the experts. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!!

On the other hand special occasions are more likely to get MK views - and that can be breathtakingly romantic (esp if you get the table during the fireworks).

Jiko and Yachtsmans! There will be good steak, there will be new things to try, there will be romance and good food. I think these are both much more relaxing choices when compared to the Cali Grill... that place gets a little hectic sometimes.

That Deck is very narrow - don't wait for the Fireworks to start if you want to be in front, go out about 10 to 15 minutes early, weather permitted.

For me, personally, the noise level isn't that bad. It's a big, open room, so all the conversations do seem to resonate in the air, but I've never noticed it so badly that I was needing to scream to my DH. Definitely wouldn't be able to whisper to each other, but you could have a normal conversation level. But you should definitely request the wine room if you choose to go there, because noise will not be an issue at all. And no matter where you're seated (wine room included), you are able to go out onto the observation deck when the fireworks start and watch them from there. They will hold your next course for you so it's brought out right when you are getting back to your table - they time everything perfectly there.

And don't worry about the planning for a Dec trip now - I do the same thing! DH used to think it was 'weird' but then he saw how much fun I had planning everything and now he does it to. He'll come home saying, 'I think we should eat HERE on the next trip.'

We've eaten at California Grill, Narcoossee's, Artist Point, and Yachtsman's Steakhouse.

We would go back to any of them, but CG and Narcoossee's are our faves, by far.

(Look forward to trying Jiko some day, based on all the reviews!)

Of all the signature dining spots, I've only been to Narcoossees. It was delicious! Everything there was sooo good. I would love to try Jiko and CG also, but would not mind going back to Narcoossees at all.

Are you going to be on a dining plan? If not, I would pick Bistro de Paris as one of the two. It's excellent and very adult, romantic.

If not, then I would pick JIKO first and then Flying Fish or Ca Grill second. We've eaten at all of the signatures on many occasions and these are consistently better than the others IMO.

As usual I will be the lone voice speaking against AP.

If you like a setting that looks like you stepped right into a fancy dining room in the TV show Bonanza - the setting will work for you (it didn't for us)

Also our service was horrible, he made it very clear that he didn't think we were good enough to be eating in such a "fine" establishment - it was the only place on grounds we had any trouble at all.

We liked the atmosphere at Narcoosee's and Brown Derby, but we love the two I listed above.

Still haven't tried Artist Point or California Grill though....

Just have to chime in here. We've eaten at a lot of WDW restaurants but not all of them. The Yachtsman is one where I've never eaten (I understand it's good) so my response and others is limited to the restaurants we've actually eaten in. Just pointing that out for what it's worth.

Well-we've been to 'em all multiple times and all are good restaurants. Because kids are everywhere at WDW, none of them may be as quiet or romantic as you might really want. Even the Wine Room at CG can be noisy if you happen to get a table full of kids right next to you--as we did one evening when we were in the Wine Room.
I happen to agree w/ fey_spirit about Artist Point--although I'd use the term Lewis and Clark-ish to describe the setting The food is good though.
Just having to pick 2, I'd go with California Grill and Flying Fish.
