Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, there has been a tremendous loss to the DIS. Fantastic posters that made you challenge yourself, made you laugh, made you question your own opinions, and made things just plain entertaining.

100+ people or whatever the number is now, is a loss. And I firmly believe that they were not all bad. You, (the collective you) are just kidding yourselves if you think otherwise.

No, the DIS is no longer the same. And to me, it's not for the good.

Wow, I didn't know sarcasm wasn't allowed. That's a shame because I really enjoy it, and not as a bullying tool, but as humor. That's why I enjoy sites like the "Onion". It's kind of stupid to have a blanket "no sarcasm" rule.

Again, I think I have only read one name calling post and maybe one person that seemed to think we were all better off without each of those banned DISers. I think we all lost friends or at the very least, people we enjoyed reading on the CB.

The people who are left on the CB have a choice to stay or move on. That is all you can do. A miracle of turning back time before the great Ban of 2008 isn't going to happen. The banned will chose to stay gone or choose a new username and start posting again. If you move on, they say adios and if you stay, you make new friends. Sometimes you make new friends with old friends. Sometimes with old banned friends.

If you stay, you'll never forget. You just won't. I still get ticked when I think of them sending Dan to another board when he cared more about this board and treated it as his own. I still get mad thinking about Snoopy getting banned for saying something lame, I still get mad about MNGoofy getting banned when I have seen far worse (here) after him than he ever did (here), I still get mad about the day I met Pete. But you make a choice to get mad and leave or you stay and make the best of it.

You're "good ol' days" are gone just like mine are gone. And now, if we choose to stay, we make try to make some *new* good ol' days. But it is truly a cycle and people will come in and join and yak, yak, yak and you'll *sigh* and they'll think it is great and then it'll blow up, people will leave, people will lament and the cycle will start again.

When I left yesterday, this thread was on page 11, I think. Now it’s on page 26. I’ve read all of the newest pages and have to say that many others have said essentially the same thing I did, but have done so much more eloquently. Pinnie and LaraK are two such posters that spring to mind, but there have been many others as well.

I have read many viewpoints here from both sides that have seemed to be filled with sincerity and honesty. However the following posts represent as much sincerity and honesty as any I have seen here. I think the lack of an answer to that final question is the answer in itself.

How does a thread like this become all about a couple of people?

But then CR could have also been Carly Roach, who is a different DIS member. . .although, there was intense speculation at one time that one CR was the other CR, because they both use the same initials in their screenname and are both avid DIS supporters. The hunt to prove that the two CRs were indeed the same one CR made the hunt to find the Watergate informant (whose name I can't type, lest it gets me points) look like amateur hour.

Last I heard, it was finally proven the two CRs are indeed two different CRs as they both couldn't be in the same place at the same time. . . Well, they could, but they'd have to break a lot of laws in the space/time continuum.

Don't forget....I was JerseyJanice for a day or two as well, although that turned out to be an Admin error. I feel sorry for the real JerseyJanice because the conspiracy theory that we're the same poster is too delicious for some to resist.

What can I say? Everyone wants to be like me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the above post isn't about the DIS, it's about another board. The board that keeps getting mentioned but is supposed to be off limits to all DIS users.

If people didn't bring it up, I wouldn't be discussing it.

On the bright side, it is one long thread - not multitudes of threads, all saying the same thing, taking up the first page. A definite improvement IMO.

I hate it when there are ten of the same thing on the first page.

We did rescue a pitpull from the pound when I was a teenager, She was the sweetest thing (and gorgeous). She's long gone now. I doubt the English Springer Spaniel I rescued two years ago would elicit quite as much attention.

I bet she's cute though.

I think that's a horrible thing to say. I think if they're loved and treated well, they're fine. I think some may be kind of territorial, but as long as strangers just don't go waltzing up to them there wouldn't be any problems.

Sure they are! You just have to abide by the Terms of Service just like here on the DIS! You cant post under two IP addresses etc, simple things like that. If you are willing to follow the guidelines, it is a very nice place.

And as far as them that were banned from here are concerned, I know for a fact that at least one person who contacted the WM's after being banned was reinstated, so I don't know how anyone can say they just ignore e-mails.

I'm also done with this thread, I have wasted entirely too much time on it already. You know what my views are on that place, so I won't continue to repeat them.

As far as the OP goes, the CB isn't that different. Maybe there's a few less people, but it's generally the same place.

And I know for a fact at least 5 (and probably quite a few more) who emailed multiple times, and were ignored.

Wow you are that special that you would be banned just because I dont think so!

Wow ONE PERSON out of over a 100 people, that is a lot of people they reinstated and I know plenty more who did ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong and had and continue to have their emails ignored, so maybe you should realize you dont know the whole story.
