Ok, here's a disclaimer, I know to talk to my doctor, but my doctor knows all about it and doesn't have any suggestions.
So, I'm asking you all intelligent people.
I'm sick, with one thing or another more often than not. What are some suggestions on how to boost my immunity, or on how to win the lottery, so I never have to go out in public again?

I'll be seeing an allergist now that I've been off antihistamines for 2 weeks. So, that may help me figure it out.

Do I have to become germophobic? And how to do pay the bills and not have any contact with anyone?

Serena, are you taking any other medications that may lower your resistance?
If not, be aware that antihistamines can have a rebound effect when you stop taking them. It sometimes gets worse before it gets better.

Hey Serena, I will hire Marcus from Big Brother 4, he was germaholic cleaning nut using Alcohol! Next we will have some techie expert come in and set up web cams in your home! You can charge people to watch you DIS! :rotfl: :rotfl:

OK I figured you could use a good laugh for starter's. I honestly hope that you get to feeling better soon. There is nothing worse than not feeling well and not know what is causing it! I am sure you are thinking of everything from animal allergie's to mold, to cleaning product's, to dust mites!

:grouphug: for you to feel better, and :wizard: to hoping the Dr.'s can help you!

vitamin C
vitamin E (nuts, vegetable oils, and whole grains)
garlic (also a natural antibiotic)
zinc - I read somewhere not to exceed 50mg/day
selenium (chicken, whole grains, tuna, red snapper, lobster, shrimp, garlic, egg yolks, sunflower seeds, brown rice)
carotenoids (carrots, yams)
omega-3 fatty acids (nuts, salmon, tuna, mackerel, flaxseed oil)
Homemade chicken soup!
Some swear by green tea properties, but I read you have to drink a LOT of it to have healing properties.
Limit caffeine
Read about and consider CoQ10 supplements (pretty convicing to take it if there is a history of heart disease in your family)

Wash your hands frequently
Try not to touch your face
Consider yoga (amazing!) daily practice for stress management and exercise
Keep hydrated
Live in a healthy environment that has fresh air or take steps to be in ventilated situations, with clean air free from pollution

Reduce sugar and breads that are not whole grains :)

My computer is acting funny, I'll be back as soon as I can.

thanks :)

:badpc: :badpc: :badpc: There, that should take care of it. ;)

I would suggest going to a natural foods store and speaking with some of the people there. They know alot about supplements to boost the immune system. I had a friend who swore by blue algae. Yep, blue algae. Some health food store girl told him about it when he was constantly getting sick. He was convinced that helped him. :)

Have no medical advice - BUT - I can help you find a way to earn $$$$ without having contact with people - 900 PHONE LINE!!!

They would never need to know that you are actually curled up on the couch in your robe and jammies and painting your toenails as you say in a breathy voice, "You'll never guess what I'm doing right now!!!" :rotfl:

Well - I think it would be a good line of work.....

Do you take echinacea? I find it really helps build my immunity, which is compromised because I have lupus.

I was going to say almost everything RobinMarie said.

Also, it's a great idea to try to completely eliminate artificial ingredients from your diet, including hydrogenated oils and MSG. Try to eat a wide variety of foods as close to their natural state as possible.

Chiropractic care can help. It certainly won't hurt.

Taking care of your mental health is also important.

Could it be stress? I know when I am under a lot of stress, my health will sometimes suffer. Maybe you need some old-fashioned TLC?!?!?!?! Lots of extra sleep, chicken soup, hot tea.....

We drink Noni juice, found at our local natural food store. It tastes like crap, but it is good for your system. They recommend 2Tbs/day. :)

Of course I agree with Kermit about Chiropractic care. :)

Lots of water. Water cleans out your system. Add lemon juice for some extra vitiman C. Fresh fruits and veggies. You can take a supplimnet but your body expells what it doesn't need.

Eliminate anti-bacterial products as much as you can. Get lots of sleep too.

I would recommend seeing a Naturopathic doctor. Some are also MD's. Usually if they are both, they can bill your insurance, otherwise this will be out of pocket.

I would recommend have them do blood work. Understand that everyone is different. I discovered I am allergic to night shades. I love night shades. Many people with low tolerences are allergic to them.

"One thing that I'm unclear about is nightshade vegetables. When I was vegetarian, spinach, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, and potatoes were often my staples. What is it that makes these veggies unfavorable?"

"Nightshades are very yin because of how fast, when and where they grow, structure, and the time of their activity. They contain toxins that destroy red blood cells and have been connected with a long laundry list of other problems; kidney stones, ulcers, rheumatoid arthritis, breathing problems, digestive problems, skin problems, nerve problems/paralysis, and energy problems are some of the negatives."

Just because I am though, does not mean you are. The testing can look at what you are reacting too, and help you work your way off of it.

Naturopathy doesn't work overnight, and isn't easy, but I have been amazed.

Snoopy, I've read and been told that people with autoimmune disease should NOT take echinacea...boosting our immune system is exactly what we should not do.
