If tracing is in place (not sure it is in central FL), should be easy enough to determine if any spike is due to visiting DTD areaI read and interview with a Disney executive yesterday that said non-park, non-resort will open first. So, expect Disney Springs to open ahead of everything else. Realistically, that's pretty easy to do because a lot of it is retail stores, which can regulate how many people are in the store at a time to maintain social distancing. The restaurants need a lot more time, especially since their staff may be enjoying making more money in unemployment due to the federal subsidy and may not want to come back.
Yes, there will be those hammering at the gates to get in...as my southern friends would say “bless their hearts”.There will be a resurgence of the virus when they start opening up. It is inevitable, this shut down was to slow down the virus until we were ready medically for it. It was not to stop it. Nothing will close down again after this, the economy cannot handle it. People will either have to protect themselves or take their chances.
Somebody has to go first, but hope it happens well before my upcoming August trip.
People here don’t have the same view point on WDW as 2/3rds of the country. Probably more in line eager to revisit, same as many locals who consider the parks their home turfPolling suggests that 2/3 the country isn’t comfortable getting out there right now. I fear the economy won’t rebound quickly due to this. And if there is a rebound in the places opening back up that is going to be an even bigger fear trigger and disaster. So I guess I’m more conservative.
Yes, i had read somewhere a guesstimate that sounded right. Perhaps Tom bricker’s newsletter? As to the advance time CMs would receive to report back to work. I assume support staff first to physically get the park ready, followed by training for in park & resorts.Or, it will take XYZ to happen and then 5 weeks for us to be ready to open. The only "hissy fits' will be the continuation of no news or false opening dates.
I’ve been wishing on that 2 1/2 to 3 month star but thinking MK won’t be open until after the 4th of July at the earliest. Just a gut feeling. Hey, if the President can have them, why not me?If you go back in time with China getting hit first, Shanghai Disneyland closed in January due to the virus, 2 months before the US parks. In late March, Shanghai Disneyland opened their resort and the small shopping/eating park outside of their Disneyland theme park to limited guests. Now they are opening the actual park approximately 2 months later.
I have to think Disney execs will be watching the opening at Shanghai Disneyland with tremendous interest. With significant capacity restrictions, socially distanced queues, what amounts to a virtual queue reservation system just to enter the park, mask requirements, sanitation requirements etc - it will be important to see how successful they are at that park.

Two things that are different, they have elements in their arsenal that we don’t: great testing & a QR health code system in place.Shanghai Disneyland is the approximate size of the Magic Kingdom. Similar attractions, similar crowds. And I could easily see similar restrictions. I think it's a very simple comparison - and the only thing of Disney's making a step forward at this time.
