Sick of it! Just announce the minimum already

I read and interview with a Disney executive yesterday that said non-park, non-resort will open first. So, expect Disney Springs to open ahead of everything else. Realistically, that's pretty easy to do because a lot of it is retail stores, which can regulate how many people are in the store at a time to maintain social distancing. The restaurants need a lot more time, especially since their staff may be enjoying making more money in unemployment due to the federal subsidy and may not want to come back.
If tracing is in place (not sure it is in central FL), should be easy enough to determine if any spike is due to visiting DTD area
There will be a resurgence of the virus when they start opening up. It is inevitable, this shut down was to slow down the virus until we were ready medically for it. It was not to stop it. Nothing will close down again after this, the economy cannot handle it. People will either have to protect themselves or take their chances.
Yes, there will be those hammering at the gates to get in...as my southern friends would say “bless their hearts”.

Somebody has to go first, but hope it happens well before my upcoming August trip.
Polling suggests that 2/3 the country isn’t comfortable getting out there right now. I fear the economy won’t rebound quickly due to this. And if there is a rebound in the places opening back up that is going to be an even bigger fear trigger and disaster. So I guess I’m more conservative.
People here don’t have the same view point on WDW as 2/3rds of the country. Probably more in line eager to revisit, same as many locals who consider the parks their home turf
Or, it will take XYZ to happen and then 5 weeks for us to be ready to open. The only "hissy fits' will be the continuation of no news or false opening dates.
Yes, i had read somewhere a guesstimate that sounded right. Perhaps Tom bricker’s newsletter? As to the advance time CMs would receive to report back to work. I assume support staff first to physically get the park ready, followed by training for in park & resorts.
If you go back in time with China getting hit first, Shanghai Disneyland closed in January due to the virus, 2 months before the US parks. In late March, Shanghai Disneyland opened their resort and the small shopping/eating park outside of their Disneyland theme park to limited guests. Now they are opening the actual park approximately 2 months later.

I have to think Disney execs will be watching the opening at Shanghai Disneyland with tremendous interest. With significant capacity restrictions, socially distanced queues, what amounts to a virtual queue reservation system just to enter the park, mask requirements, sanitation requirements etc - it will be important to see how successful they are at that park.
I’ve been wishing on that 2 1/2 to 3 month star but thinking MK won’t be open until after the 4th of July at the earliest. Just a gut feeling. Hey, if the President can have them, why not me? :)
Shanghai Disneyland is the approximate size of the Magic Kingdom. Similar attractions, similar crowds. And I could easily see similar restrictions. I think it's a very simple comparison - and the only thing of Disney's making a step forward at this time.
Two things that are different, they have elements in their arsenal that we don’t: great testing & a QR health code system in place.

I’m aware that this board is Disney fanatics and will likely go. This board and folks registered to it that have trips booked are likely not enough to put the parks into the positive contribution area as the Disney exec said yesterday. And I’ve seen even the fanatics on this board say they need to see how things look before they fully commit. Between people nervous about virus, people with less disposable income. and potential limited experience it may not be the slam dunk some think it will be.

Well, this presents a problem.... He probably should not have said that, in a semi-open forum.

"Thomas Mazloum, Senior Vice President of Walt Disney World Resorts and Transportation Operations, stated that although reservations were being accepted for June 1st, Walt Disney World may not open on June 1st."

You see, later, this could be used in a FRAUD lawsuit - accepting any money for a product that one knows can not be delivered :(. This is a good time to let the WDW LAWYERS speak - with everyone else silent :(.
It’s only fraud if he knew for a fact that they wouldn’t be open. That isn’t the case so it’s not fraud.

We’re four days in to the outbreak? It would be more likely that we’re in the second peak if this was directly applicable, which it is not.

The lesson from 1918 is that we should not let our guard down just because we think it is over. 1918 was a strain of influenza, not a coronavirus and therefore it’s not a direct analogy for what will happen with COVID.

Okey dokey 👍🏻 Never said it was, but alrighty then. Thanks for mansplaining it 👍🏻

You just posted a picture with no explanation whatsoever with an arrow pointing four days in to the 1918 outbreak. What else could that mean?
I am not responding to you after this post but knock yourself out. Did you actually read the post I was responding to? It was a response to the “nothing will shut down again” bit. I found it premature given how other pandemics have historically performed. You saw the graph, but you didn’t bother to see what I was responding to. You saw the graph. You ignored everything else and assumed I needed to be corrected.
Here’s what you missed:

That doesn’t change anything. The poster you replied to is correct about the reason for the lockdown and I think it is very unlikely that we’re going to lock down again with the leadership we have in place in this country.
