The price just keeps going up! So last night I pulled out my bread machine and found a new and easy recipe on the internet to try. My family ate it for breakfast this morning and every single person (from the little ones to my dh) made a point of saying how tasty they thought it was.
I bought the big 50# bag of bread flour at Costco a while back for around $10 I think. At 3 cups per loaf we'll be eating bread for pennies on the dollar.
Here's the recipe:
1 cup warm water
2 1/4 tsp. yeast
2 TBLS sugar
pour these into bread machine and let sit and foam for 10 minutes
Add:
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 cups bread flour
1 tsp. salt
I set the machine for a 1.5 pound loaf, medium crust, and started it right away (due to yeast and water already mixing). Turned out great! Next time I'm going to sub in 1/2 cup whole wheat flour for the same amount of bread flour for a little extra crunch (as someone on the website recommended).
