Sick and tired of 2000 ribbon dancer pins on lanyards check this out.

They are maked as 2004 on them. Apparantly all of the leftovers were sold in bulk, probably by Kodak.

If someone wants to buy 500 pins that will be very difficult to trade, that is their choice.
I think the point is that the person that purchased these pins will used them to trade for lanyard pins and that all 500 will be on WDW lanyards in the near future.

Anybody been to the parks lately to know if the Dancer pins are still on all the CM lanyards? Hopefully they are starting to die out!!!! Have the Kodak pins replaced the Dancers in "popularity

Everyone in my shop has at least 1 of the two styles of these pins on their lanyard. I have both styles (the square pin and the wavy one). Someone tried to trade me the other day and give me one, but I had to say no, since I already have it on there (she gave me a different pin instead).

we just got back and my little girl traded for a mystery pin close to the pooh ride on a cm.. well.. it was a KODAK pin.. think about how boring for a cute little princess.... she said Mom why is that a mystery and what is it?? I was disappointed for her but we traded it as soon as we found someone that didn't have it....

We had a ball!

Just got back and my dd5 traded for both the 2000 dancer pin AND the Kodak 2004 pin! She picked the 2000 pin because she was born in 2000 -- the cm she traded with was shocked and kept asking if she was sure that was the one she wanted. I have no idea why she picked the Kodak one (only saw a handful of these pins -- dancer pins are still on every lanyard). She also picked up about 1/2 dozen sedesma pins and a few propins. Lanyard and LE pins were slim pickings this trip but dd5 and dd7 were happy with the ones they got (Dh and I don't trade or colllect). dd7 also one a AP pin at the Contemporary pin trading night and she had a good time. She even traded with a few of the non cm's there with books and everyone was very nice. (Well, there was one rude older woman who actually pushed my dd7 out of the way because she wanted to trade from the book my dd7 was looking at. dd7 had already asked if she could look at the book and the owner said yes. )

Not only that, but it's very discouraging for people who are new to pin trading, and think they're getting a deal, but really they're just getting a whole lot of pins they'll never be able to trade.

I bought 30 of those pins this spring, completely clueless about the fact that they were everywhere. I didn't really think of myself as a pin-trader at the time; my son had about 30 pins total, and I had maybe 10, after a couple visits when we were pin-trading. So, I knew enough to know the 2000 pins were technically tradeable, but not enough to know how incredibly undesirable they were! Since buying those 30, I've spent 2 days each at DL and DLRP, and I've still got 13 of the 2000 pins left. And now I cringe on the odd occasion when I actually can trade one, since I know it means another one of these pins on the poor CM's lanyard, and yet another person knowing they can't trade their 2000 pin.

Plenty of pin-traders don't read any message boards, don't track ebay well enough to see that there are multiple huge lots of these pins, and just think they're getting a bargain, but ultimately are getting ripped off. :(

But one small bit of joy: One time I saw somebody posting about how their DS really wanted a 2000 pin and couldn't wait to get to the parks and trade for one, and I dropped one in the mail to him so he wouldn't have to wait. It felt good to at least be able to spread a little pixie dust. :wizard:

And maybe someday, oh, like in the year 2020, these pins will be tradeable again. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Plus . . . truthfully, with some of the problems in this world, I'm grateful that I have the luxury of complaining about problems like this.

Oh man, posting again because I finally looked at the ebay entry that started this thread and it's cracking me up.

"Rare"

"Tradable and highly sought after!"

"Pin lot worth over $3250.00 ($6.50 a pin estimate if just a retail value, worth more in aftermarket)"

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

All kidding aside, and I do enjoy reading the stuff you guys come up with....where does an ebayer come up with 200+ of the same pin? Does Disney sell the excess pins somewhere? I would be leary of someone having that many of one pin. It somehow seems illegal or wrong, at best.

Funny you should ask where these come from..But Disney wholesales them out to companies that have the highest bid offer. You just need to know how and when the sales are in order to buy these up..I know a few companies that is all they do from Disney and make a small fortune..sometimes they get pins, other times luggage tags and bed sheets..all depends on what they have to sell and how much they ask for it...Just like any other business that has a huge surplus of outdated materials..Disney sells it off and someone buys it...

I do believe Disney has learned after 2000 that they need to really limit how much of a pin they make because this is really coming back to haunt them now with the Millenium dancers pins..Young and dumb in the hobby..Mark it up to the experience for them because now people are dumping these off for pins that disney actually paid to have made(ie the Lanyard series) nd can not recoup the costs..So if they sold 3000 of the Dancer to a wholesaler and they got $100 dollars, Thats 3000 lanyard pins that will disappear for a heck of a deal to some traders.

I also know that everyone had a huge cry when they clearence out pins to CM during the holidays and the CM pin Parties but those are just a cold compared to this epidemic....I would rather get a state Rack pin instead of a Dancers pin any day...
