Siblings or multiples in the same class...a question

I am the class mother for my DDs Pre K playgroup held at the local HS and is a wonderful learning experience for the kids. This program is free and accepts kids from three towns which are mostly mid to upper income families. My question is I have two families in the class with siblings, one has 3 girls, 5 yo twins and a 3 1/2 yo. The other family has 2 boys ages 4 and 5. The HS teacher that runs this program is just the sweetest, and the big kids are great as well. So here lies the problem, the teacher gives me the list for things she needs for the Halloween Party, I pass the list around for sign ups and the families with the multiples only sign up for one thing. Now the list has the 12 items on it, presumably because there are 12 kids. So I am short on sign ups for three things. Do you think the families that have more than one kid should provide something for each child to bring in? I am confused on this. Last year was a problem with a mom of triplets not wanting to chip in X3 for the christmas gifts.

My thoughts are if the children were in different classes, they would have to bring in something each, also being this is a free program, don't be so cheap.

As the mother of multiples, it wouldn't bother me if I was asked nicely to bring in more than one thing. I would probably say that it didn't occur to the parents to sign up for more than one thing. Perhaps you can add something on the next sign up sheet saying one item per child ?

I agree with you.

I am a twin, and I was never in the same group/program as my brother except for two years of youth soccer. My mom had to pay the registration fees twice, fundraiser requirements twice, etc. At school, same thing, expected to send in twice as much or pay the fee twice.

The only time we didn't do something twice was if we were both invited to the same b-day party (didn't happen often as he was a boy, and I a girl). We always gave one present, but it was usually cost more than a gift if just one of us would have attended.

I have two DD's in K this year, and I would happily sign up for two items. I would like it to be two of the same thing, or two things alike, so that I didn't have to go to two different places to get them.

Edited to add: Maybe you should revise the sign up sheet to list each child's name, beside the name, the parent can write in what he / she will bring.

I always signed up for things for each child so with the twins I would sign up for two things. Maybe when you send a note around for something like this put in the heading "please sign up for something for each child" then parents would know it isn't a family thing OR you could sign the family with multiple children up for a more expensive thing to bring like paper plates, napkins, cups and juice and then have 9 things on the list, not 12.

I agree, if they were in seperate classes they would have to buy something for each class. I would politely point out that there are 12 things on the list b/c there are 12 children and you need them to sign up for something additional. I think they will understand after an explanation.

::yes:: I agree EACH child should bring in something... If they were in different classes they would each need to bring something in so why not..

maybe you can explain it to them the way you did here.. there are 12 children and you have 12 items that need to be donated.. 1 per child..

I have twins & would sign up to bring 2 items. It's the same as when they were/are invited to b-day parties. They either bring 2 gifts or they bring one gift card that is twice the amount I wouldn't have gotten if just one child was going.

My 3 kids are all in the same preschool class. I bring in the supplies/ item per each child. I agree with the suggestion of putting the child's name next to the item he/she is to bring in. HTh
