SIAP: how long is the DVC presentation?

Generally, the actual presentation, which includes a tour of models, takes about a hour and a half. That does not include travel to the preview center and return travel.

I would use your available time prior to your visit to educate yourself on how DVC works, and how the pros and cons would apply to your family. I'd also educate yourself on the resale marketplace (where you can save 20-50%)and financing options if you need to finance. You'll find these DIS DVC boards a very good source of unbiased information from people who are not timeshare salesmen trying to sell you something.

Take your time and do your homework. If you don't have time for a tour, that's a far better outcome than going in knowing nothing and buying a timeshare based on only part of the story.

Good luck!

Just tell your Guide up front how much time you have. The usual meeting takes about an hour and a half.

Please resist the temptation to buy and take some time to become a educated consumer. Selecting your favorite resort can be another challenge.

I learned the hard way and it wasn't cheap.

Since you are local ... with 13 visits this year ... why not wait to tour on a different visit? ;)

this is one of the very few times we are going without the kids. We've been talking about it for years, but never got around to it.

Ah, understand. If you choose to tour this trip, be prepared to make a decision. Incentives for a "buy now" purchase will be offered with a catch that they disappear after 3-days (give or take). You might be at an information-disadvantage if you are asked to "buy now" without having already equipped yourself with knowledge of the home resorts, banking/borrowing policies, where/when/how one may use their points, non-DVC options (DCL, Concierge Collection, RCI, etc.), etc.

Best wishes on your decision to "tour or not to tour."

Honestly, save your time. You'll learn more on this and other forums.
I have to agree. The tour is just a look at model rooms. They're very nice...now, do you know any more?

Gather info first, decide tentatively where to buy and how many points, and THEN if you want to speak to a DVC timeshare salesperson, you can just call them and talk at your convenience without disrupting your trip.

If you go in without much information, you are going to be pushed toward a decision you are not ready to make.

I have found Disney to be pretty low pressure. They will show you around and you can leave whenever you would like (at least when we went through it) Marriot kept us captive for almost 2 hours...it was terrible,

If you're going into the parks and go on rides, then time shouldn't really be an issue. They usually will give you some VIP fast passes to attend. The hour and half for the tour is more than covered by not having to stand in line for 3 busy rides.

IMHO , depending on your family make up , until you've actually seen the room sizes/layouts it's often difficult to know exactly how many points you actually need. I agree with the advice to get as much information as you can prior to the next trip, but if this is the best trip to take a look , make it a priority. Otherwise you'll still be talking about it in another 5 years. If you ask most members if they have one main regret about DVC what is it, it is that they didn't look into it earlier. You can gather a lot of info on these boards in a just a few hours of digging, however in my experience, most people can't make a fully educated decision until after they have been through the rooms and imagined what their vacations would be like with their families in those accommodations.

Make time, it will be worth it.

Thanks all...We decided not to tour this last weekend. We will be looking into it in June for sure.
