shuttles to WDW--how do these work?

has anyone used them? We are staying at the Hampton Inn Maingate West the week before Easter. This is our first time offsite. Our hotel offers a shuttle, but when I asked about it the gal said they don't actually run the shuttle service and didn't seem too sure how it worked. I'm wondering how early they start? how often do they run? where do they drop you off and pick you up? Are these the people I have seen standing in a bunch out in the middle of the parking lot at EPCOT?

We will have a car, just wondering if the shuttle would be something that would work for us.

I question that too. You also need to check how many hotels it stops at prior to going to park. I'm thinking I'll just pay the parking and go early.
