Traffic is a BEAR on launch days cause everyone heads that way..so they end up getting near the gates and are sitting in a huge traffic jam. Get close to the gates finally and the lady tells them they're too late!! Sorry..your tickets are not valid, you're late!!
Ouch..waste of tickets, time and $$! So..their advice to us was to leave to get there WAY early on launch day if you want to catch it!
If you have KSC viewing tickets (of any kind) they are very strict about arrival time. The parking pass tells you when you have to be there and states that if you are not there at that time you will be denied access. 2 hours before launch is way to late. When the launch was set for 4:30pm we were required to be there BY 8am no later.

How long should we allow to get from Orlando to Kennedy? We have to arrive at KSC for 12.45 for lunch with an astronaut!
Not sure on the camera, it's my hubbies, I will ask him tonight and get back to you.
As far as what time to leave... We live about 20 minutes west of Disney, and we left about 2 hours early just to be safe. It takes about 45 to an hour to get there without traffic. Going out we very rarely hit traffic, but you still want to leave yourself time. Coming home though, that is another story. For Discovery our drive home took 4 hours, for Atlantis it took 1 hour and 20 minutes. The return trip is unpredictable, be prepared for a long time and cross your fingers that it doesn't happen.
